Chapter 4 : Magician Stars

James looked cautiously at the bear before slowly approaching him. After confirming that the bear had lost consciousness, James wiped the sweat from him forehead.

"The mana ball is more powerful than I thought, but it can only stun a beast of this size, I have to think about developing something more powerful."

"I'm getting hungry, I should have taken some dried meat with me." He said, caressing his belly before his gaze turned to the entrance of the cave giving off a blue glow.

"Is this a natural phenomenon of phosphorescence?"

Phosphorescence is the phenomenon observed when a material continues to emit light after being illuminated, the term roughly means to illuminate like phosphorus.

Curious James walked to the cave and entered, the interior was dry with animal carcasses and uni-deer all over the floor, but what caught James' eye were stones embedded in the rock of the cave.

"I don't recognize this mineral at all, it is quite translucent and gives off a strong light."

"It doesn't look like calcite or stones like Burmese ruby or Hope blue diamond."

James approached and touched one of the stones but suddenly a very pleasant sensation ran through his body, James felt the stone release an energy similar to blue energy that penetrated his body at full speed, one minute later the stone turned to dust and sank to the ground.

Stunned James clenched his fists.

"The energy in my body kind of doubled, no that's not it!"

"It's the quality of my body that's improved, this stone didn't directly increase my amount of energy but rather the quality and volume of the energy container."

"How is that even possible, it defies the laws of biology, how can a human body be strengthened with pure energy!"

"No, I must be wrong somewhere, but there's no point in thinking about that right now, let's do another experiment."

James' scientific personality woke up again and he continued to absorb the energy from the stones of this cave one by one.

And when he absorbed the tenth stone, he suddenly felt his body bubbling, the blue energy he absorbed wanted to tear his body apart and escape into nature.

"Ouch, damn it hurts, agh!"

James fell to the ground in pain, but that didn't stop him from thinking fast.

"Is it a waste of energy? A side effect? Ouch! Yes the mana must be too volatile, my body must not be adapted to such a large amount of energy, ouch."

Like an overfilled balloon James felt like he was about to explode, but then, on the verge of death, an idea came into his head.

"I have to purge my body of the excess!"

He clenched his teeth and concentrated all of his mana in his left hand, the bones of his hands began to crack as blood oozed from his arm.

"I thought my mana couldn't hurt me damn it! Ouch! AGH!"

Resisting the pain James concentrated his mana to the maximum.

"I control you! You must bend at will!" James screams as he focuses like never before in his life.

But as soon as all his mana entered his arm and was compressed in his hands, the pain disappeared.

All of his mana moved towards his arm and condensed into a small area on his wrist, shining so brightly that its light illuminated the entire cave.

He took a deep breath while his body was covered in sweat, then slowly stood up on the ground and sat with his back to the cave wall while fixing his left arm.

James felt that his mana was communicating with him and asked him to give it a shape.

Unconsciously, the first image that appeared in James' mind was a star.

His mana then calmed down and a piece of skin on his right arm was slightly burned, revealing a black star.

It was then that the world seemed to come to a halt, the birds, animals, humans and all the creatures of this world froze for a moment.

An indescribably frightening and deep voice asked James.

"What name have you chosen for this system of force?"

James was not afraid when he heard this voice, it wasn't that he was brave, but rather that at that very moment he felt no emotion, he was not even in control of his thoughts, he just whispered calmly.

"Magic Stars"

The world returned to normal, James came to his senses with his body trembling and frightened by what had just happened.

"What was that voice, I almost fainted with fear, it was as if a mysterious power was controlling me."

He continued to think for a while and then decided to leave the cave and return to his camp, but before he left, he ripped out more than 34 of the remaining stones in the cave and carried them with the bull skin he was using as a backpack, then cut off one of the bear's paws and decided to bring it back with him, as the bear's entire body was too heavy to lift.

Then he went to his camp following the trees he had marked.
