Chapter 9 - Friends

With a final grin at each other they launched themselves across the arena at faster speeds then they had shown yet. Kai threw a jumping superman punch that Naruto dodged planting his hands on the ground and launched a handstand spin kick. Kai blocked the kick and grabbed his ankle as he threw him across the arena and jumped in the air launching a downward axe kick towards Naruto who rolled out of the way.

Naruto got to his feet and sprinted towards Kai with a jumping high knee which Kai blocked but was pushed back. Naruto followed this up with spinning backhand but Kai caught his arm and pressed all the pressure points in his right arm rendering it useless before sending him back with a palm strike to his chest.

"You got sloppy Naruto, you know better than to leave openings like that" Kai said. Naruto merely grunted in annoyance and ran at Kai again. However now Kai took the initiative as Naruto ran at him Kai slid to the ground under Naruto planting his hand on the ground before sending a high kick to the back of Naruto's head knocking him out and sending him rolling across the ground

Everyone was left in awe at the high level of combat between the two five year olds. Kai took out his bottle of water and threw it in Naruto's face waking him up. That round is my win Naru-chan we are now 272-261 in Taijutsu battles. "Damn it" Naruto shouted as he punched the ground. Kai released the pressure points in Naruto's arm and helped him stand. They performed the seal of reconciliation and returned to their places with the students.

The examiner finally recovered an called an end to the Taijustsu battles. A Hyuga came and used his dojutsu to scan every student to see their chakra levels but was left in shock at the amount of chakra in both Naruto and Kai. The examiner merely shook his head and sighed. "They are arrogant but damn they are so cool for 5 year olds" he muttered to himself cursing the day he wasn't born a prodigy.

He placed each student in their respective classes and both Naruto and Kai were sent to 1-A where all the clan heirs and most talented students would go.

During all this happening Hiruzen had been watching the testing with his crystal ball and was also shocked at the skill level of the two boys. "I guess that should be expected after being raised and trained by the strongest Ninja in the village even if she is retired" he said sighing to himself. He cursed Danzo for making him look like a fool and break the trust of Kai before he even had a chance to get to know him.

Kai and Naruto made their way towards the classroom with a pink haired girl named Sakura Haruno who was also a civilian but proved to be very intelligent even if she lacked any Taijutsu skills. Sakura walked with a blush as she looked at the two next to her. 'They looked so cool when they fought, no wonder my mom said to befriend Kai before I left today' she thought.

They reached the door and entered, all eyes turned towards them taking in the newcomers. Naruto and Kai made their way to the back row smiling and talking amongst themselves. Sakura rushed to her best friend Ino and filled her in on the fights earlier. Ino was shocked and didn't believe they were tht strong as they were civilians but Sakura kept pushing her telling her they were.

Shikamaru met eyes with Kai and saw determination and confidence in his eyes. He looked away and muttered "Troublesome". When Kai and Naruto got to their seats they sat down with Naruto resting his hands on the back of his head and Kai looking out the window.

The black haired boy who sat in front of them got the same feeling from Kai that he got in his brother's presence and instantly knew he was strong. He turned to face them and introduced himself "My name is Sasuke Uchiha, it's good to meet you". Naruto smiled at him and said "My name is Naruto Uzumaki and this is my best friend Kai Ookami it's good to meet you."

(A/N this is pre Uchiha massacre so pre Emo Sasuke, right now he is just a kid who worships his brother and wants to be like him. So when he got the same feeling from Kai he wanted to become his friend. He was a happy kid before the massacre so I see nothing wrong with their interaction.)

The girls in the class looked at the interaction between the three attractive boys and started talking amongst themselves about who was cuter.

(A/N yes they are five I don't care about people saying they are too young to have crushes. Life expectancy is so much shorter in Shinobi world so kids are naturally more mature. They wont start kissing and all that crap already but they can have crushes. If you don't agree thats fine its a fanfiction so please don't blast the comments complaining they are too young for crushes. Also Naruto is not the loud mouth failure in this fanfiction and looks just like Minato who was very popular when he was young so its natural Naruto will be too.)

The Chunin teacher walked in and announced his presence to the class. "My name is Iruka Umino and I will be your teacher for the next 7 years so let's work hard together. Everyone starting from the front row introduce yourselves and something you like" he said.

So the class went and the students introduced themselves, when it got to Sasuke he stood up and said "My name is Sasuke Uchiha, I like training, my brother and tomatoes. I want to be strong like my brother."

Next it came to Kai, he stood up and said "My name is Kai Ookami, I like taijutsu, my Imouto, Naruto and Dango. I want to be the strongest ninja ever and have a family." The girls fawned over his introduction.

It was Naruto's turn next so he stood up and said "My name is Naruto Uzumaki, I like Kai, Ramen and learning cool things. I want to become Hokage some day, Believe It!"

Once he sat down they started class and learned basic things like maths, geography and hand signs. Kai and Naruto had already learned these things with Shinko so they put their heads on the desk and went to sleep. As Kai did so his eyes met Shikamarus and a bond was formed between the two as they knew true camaraderie when they saw it.

Iruka-Sensei was incensed seeing his students act so non-chalant already and threw chalk at the three of them. The chalk hit Shikamaru and he muttered "What a drag" as he raised his head. Naruto however dodged the Chalk and Kai caught it before launching it back at Iruka-Sensei with such speed that Iruka barely dodged it. Kai's eyes went wide that he had attacked his teacher.

He stood and bowed saying "I am sorry Sensei, I didn't mean to attack you it was simply reflex from training with my Imouto." The class and Iruka were in shock at his speed and Sasuke had stars in his eyes as he took out a diary and wrote down 'must train to catch and throw back weapons with Itachi'

Iruka came back to his senses and said "It is fine Kai, it was good reflexes but please listen in class come down here and answer this math problem." Kai made his way to the chalkboard and after a second answered it before heading back to his seat. Iruka was shocked he answered so easily and said "correct" before going back to teaching class.

Lunch arrived and Kai, Naruto and Sasuke made their way down towards Ino and Sakura. Kai said "Hi, if i am not mistaken I have seen you around the playground a lot, My name is Kai Ookami, it is nice to meet you. Can we sit and eat lunch with you?"

Ino looked up in shock that he recognised her as they had never talked before. She blushed and said "Sure, my name is Ino Yamanaka and this is my best friend Sakura Haruno." The three boys sat down and once everyone was introduced started talking amongst themselves.

As they were talking and eating Kai used his chopsticks to snatch a piece of Ino's bento with a playful smirk and said "sorry it just looked so good I had to try some, I hope you don't mind". Ino blushed at his playful attitude and nodded her head that it was okay. Naruto however flicked Kai's head and said "that was rude, If big sister Shinko finds out she will punish you." Kai pouted but felt swear run down his back at his Imouto's punishment.

The five of them finished their food and talked amongst themselves as Shikamaru and Chouji walked over and introduced themselves. They all sat down talking when Naruto saw a blue haired girl blush looking at them. He walked over with a smile and said "My name is Naruto Uzumaki, would you like to join us?"

The girl blushed and stuttered out "My name is Hinata Hyuga, its nice to meet you. I would love to join you." Naruto looked deep in her eyes and said "You have really pretty eyes Dattebayo". Hinata felt all the blood rush to her head and fainted but Naruto caught her before she fell and asked with a voice full of concern "Are you ok?" Hinata came back to her senses and realized she was in his arms and blood trickled out of her nose.

At this point Naruto got really worried and started to panic but Kai came over and slapped him in the back of the head and said "you can't go holding girls like that baka" He took Hinata out of his arms and helped her to a seat where she finally regained her senses.

Hinata was incredibly embarrassed but just as she was about to run away Naruto stood in front of her and bowed "I am sorry I grabbed you please be my friend Datebayo". Hinata relaxed and smiked at him before nodding her head. Together they all sat down and talked.
