Chapter 2 - I need your help

Kakashi and Hiruzen remained silent for a time as thoughts of that horrid attack came to mind. The Third Hokage sighed and said "Keep watching over Naruto, bring him to my office soon and I will give him an apartment its the least I can do in honor of his parents. I hate I can't do more but the council is against everything to do with him." Kakashi nodded and body flickered away. 'What will you become Kai Ookami, we may have changed your clan name to protect you but I have heard from the matron how hard you pursue becoming a Shinobi. I am glad you decided to reach out to Naruto though' he thought to himself.

After playing all afternoon Kai took out the bento the Matron had prepared for him and gave it to Naruto. Naruto looked at him with tears in his eyes, he hadn't eaten since he was kicked out of the Orphanage. Kai simply smiled at him before he said "don't worry about me I will get food back in the orphanage. "I have to go back now or the matron will be mad but I will see you again tomorrow if you want to play again" he said. Naruto looked sad that his friend was leaving but he nodded and said "I will see you tomorrow then". Kai departed and headed back to the orphanage as Naruto looked down at the bento he was given with a happy smile on his face when an ANBU shunshinned in front of him. "The Hokage wants to see you come with me" he said. Naruto who had fallen on the ground at the sudden appearance of the Ninja in front of him got back to his feet and picked up the bento that had fallen to the ground. The ANBU led him to the Hokage tower as Naruto ate the food on the way. When they arrived the ANBU knocked on the door and the Third Hokage allowed them to enter. When Hiruzen saw the empty bento in Naruto's hands he raised an eyebrow and asked "who gave you the food Naruto". Naruto clutched the empty bento tightly and said "my friend Kai gave it to me". Hiruzen smiled and moved on "so I heard you have no where to live anymore Naruto, I have an apartment for you to stay at for now on, the ANBU will lead you there after we are done talking and I will give you some money every month to buy food and other things". Naruto nodded sadly and asked "Jiji why can't I stay at the orphanage anymore?" Hiruzen sighed and said "there was not enough space there anymore and you were chosen to move out,I am sorry Naruto, if you need anything you can always come see me ok?" Naruto nodded and left with the ANBU.

When Kai returned to the orphanage he was greeted with an angry looking matron. Kai sweatdropped at her expression and said "I am sorry, I am late Kaachan, I saw Naruto alone and played with him". The matrons glare softened at the mention of Naruto and took Kai into her embrace, your a good boy Kai, never change that ok" she said. Kai looked at her in confusion but nodded his head and left towards his room. Once he reached his room he assumed the lotus position and started meditating trying to access his Chakra but yet again it was to no avail. Kai got up grumpily and made his way downstairs for food. After he finished eating he went back to his room and swore to himself 'this time it will work'. After a couple hours of meditating Kai finally felt like he could grasp his chakra and immediately pulled it towards the rest of his body rotating it clockwise. However in his inexperience he pulled almost all his chakra out at once and it immediately pulsed around him. He could feel the chakra running through his body and it was intoxicating feeling it flow through his body. As it burst out around him he collapsed sleepily to the floor with a smile on his face. The matron feeling the chakra surge jumped in surprise and rushed to Kai's room. She was taken aback as she could see the chakra surround him which can only happen when a lot is used at one time. His chakra glowed in a mixture of red white and blue turning a purple hew. The matron was shocked at the scene in front of her as the amount of chakra he released was already high chunnin level and the color suggested affinities with fire lightning and wind. The matron who knew his parents before their deaths immediately realized what that meant. Kai potentially had a Kekkai Tota. As he collapased to the floor the matron body flickered over to him and caught his head before it hit the ground.

Realizing the importance of the potential of a Kekkai Tota was worried. She knew all too well that if Danzo was to find out he would want Kai for himself to turn him into a weapon, as Kai had no clan support he would be easy pickings. The matron refused to let such a fate take her Kai. She thought to herself 'he needs someone to take him in or he will be lost. Thankfully I know who to ask and they owe me a life debt for saving them during the Third Shinobi war.' The matron placed him in his bed and body flickered away arriving at a small apartment. The Matron knocked on the door and was greeted by a girl in her late teens with grey pig tails. The girl was taken aback when she saw the matron but quickly hugged the matron. "It is good to see you Shinko" said the matron. Shinko opened her door and let her in. "What brings you here Matron? she asked". The matron sighed and said "I need your help Shinko, I know you feel you owe me for saving you during the Third Shinobi war and if you do this for me I will consider everything between us equal" with a tone of sadness in her voice. Shinko frowned at the serious expression on the matrons face but nodded at her to continue.

The matron looked her in the eye and said "You are one of the youngest Jonin in Konaha regardless of you retiring from the Shinobi life after the war I know you still train and improve yourself in the case of ever needing to fight again. I need you to adopt an orphan from my care". Shinko was shocked to say the least, that was the last thing she expected but knowing the Matron as well as she does, she knew there must be more to the tale.

(A/N Yes I know Shinko was on Itachis genin team but I aged her up and changed that in this novel as she was never used aside from running a tea shop. God I love Author powers, in a way I am the omnipotent being in regards to my novels)
