Jormungandr

A small beam of light had just entered through a crack in the cave. Dazzled by the light that was projected on their eyelids, Snar and Pril woke up.

After getting out of their makeshift bed, they turned around to see if their egg was okay. Because, in some cases, the egg would be moved by the wind, and one could imagine what would probably happen to the egg - break upon hard impact on the ground. No couple would like to wake up to their child who had died by reason of a mere breeze.

Luckily the egg was not moved, and they could even see that he was full of life. Indeed, the snakes could only see heat, since they have a thermal vision, so they could see a ball of light almost as bright as Helios. He could only be well with this much heat.

"Well, let's go and look for another hiding place because we'll be needing it. I'm not intending to give my skin to those Borigs who will find us by tomorrow."

The Borigs were a group of humanoid monsters with grey skin colour. They looked like the fusion between a wolf and a rat. In fact, one of their ancestors fed on the blood of a wolf, and it had a mutation. During the reproduction of the breed, this gene became dominant. Ever since then, the Borigs existed.

They were pursuing the two snakes, wanting to feed on their blood. Thus, creating a new mutation.

"Why are we running away from them? We are much more powerful than they are, so we can defeat them. We don't have to run away anymore." Pril said.

"You think it's so easy? I thought so too, at first, but when I saw a griffin being eaten by them, I learned to watch out for those little buggers. We have the quality and they have the quantity. Even the strongest of monsters would fall against a lot of little monsters." Snar reasoned his decision, not ceding his argument.

"You're right, let's go. But first, let me do something."

She approached her egg and hid it under a nest of leaves.

"This is pointless." Snar impatiently hissed.

"Maybe for you, but it makes me feel better."

While Pril and Snar were out, Bagir was having a thinking on his own.

'So, I'm still in this place, but what have I done to deserve this? Is it because I wished some bad thing would happen to Lou? No, that's not possible.'

While he was trying to find a reason why he was in that place, Bagir heard a voice in the midst of the darkness.

"Sssssss sssssss ssssss" (Don't panic my child).

'Why am I suddenly hearing a whistle?'

He waited for a few seconds, but nothing happened.

'Now, I'm going crazy.'

Bagir imaginarily shook his head, going against the idea that he was out of his mind.

'You're not crazy. You merely heard a whistle, but you couldn't understand what it meant.' He said as he turned around to look where the noise was coming from.

'Yet another noise, except that this one is understandable. Can you show yourself to me? Because I feel like I'm crazy if nothing appears in front of me.' He waited a minute, yet nothing appeared in front of him.

All of a sudden, a huge snake appeared in front of him. He proceeded to look up and down the newly arrived serpent.

'Are you Jormungandr, the world-eater?'

"You are not even born and you already recognized me. This is what I expected of my descendant." Jormungandr said as he read Bagir's thoughts, raising his head proudly.

He was too shocked to pay attention to what the serpent had just said. Standing in front of him was the one and only Jormugandr. It's incredible for the unborn snake. It looked like his dream had finally come true.

'What do you mean by your descendants?' Bagir asked in his head.

"That means what it means. You're my descendant who had a mutation, and was lucky enough to inherit my bloodline."

He had just received too much information in one fell swoop. So, he assumed that he wasn't dead and was now the descendant of the world eater.

Bagir asked Jormungandr a question that he wanted to be answered, 'Since I have your Bloodline, is it possible I could be like you once I grow to an adult?'

"Yes, that's what it means to inherit my Bloodline, but you won't be like me right away. You'll have to wait because I'm not like the other mythical monsters."

'The other mythical monsters?'

"The world you are in is the world of Urdu. There are all kinds of extraordinary beings who live here."

'Are there humans in Urdu too?' Bagir kept on dishing out questions, ever curious of the new world.

"No, they're not here, but in another world but. In Urdu, some monsters have taken human form."

'Then I could have one too?'

He was really happy because he always wanted to have a human body. He dreamed of all the things he could do with a bipedal body.

"Sorry, that won't be possible." Unfortunately, Jormungandr answer was rather unfortunate.

'What do you mean by that, Why can't I have a human form?' Bagir questioned the serpent, hopeful that there was still a chance.

"If you want, all the other monsters become more powerful by devouring the blood of other monsters. By devouring this blood and absorbing it, all monsters will grow on length."

'Is power related to size?'

"Yes, let's take the case of your parents"

'My parents? I don't even know how they look.'

"You haven't seen your parents yet, I forgot."

'Yes, I didn't even know that I was alive. For me, I was just in the void.'

"No, you are alive. So, your parents are each 12 meters long. If they want to take the human form, they will have to be 100 meters long. are you starting to get it?"

Jormungandr patiently responded to every question that came from the youngling.

'Yes, that's good, but I don't understand why my parents, who are also snakes, have access to a human form and I don't.' Bagir sadly uttered of the unfairness.

"That is because of our Bloodline. Because, if our race would have access to a human form, we would be too powerful."

'We will be too powerful?'

"That's right. After taking a human form, eight doors will appear in your body."

'8 doors?'

"Yes, and when you have opened each door, you will have to complete a test. You will have to fight a heart demon. After you have cleared it, you will gain power, and they're corresponding to each door."

The first door: the door of sloth.

The second door: the door of greed.

The third door: the door of gluttony.

The fourth door: the door of pride.

The fifth door: the door of lust.

The sixth door: the door of anger.

The seventh door: the door of envy.

Finally, the last door: the door of revelation.

"However, the ultimate door could change depending on the character of a person. A very angry person could have the door of anger in the penultimate door. Although, the second to last is always the most dangerous."

'Deadly sins? But why do we have an advantage?'

"What is the name of our race?" Now, Jormungandr was the one to question Bagir.

'World eater.'

"That's why, to break down the doors and pass the tests, we have to absorb the energy around us, but this is too simple."

'But then, how should we face the people who have already opened the doors?'

"With our body, because it grows all the time, the older you are the harder and longer your body will be, and we also have our venom."

'I just have to wait to get stronger?'

"Yes, but I don't advise you to just wait. All the monsters of this world will come to hunt you when they learn the bloodline that you possess."

'How can I get stronger faster?' Bagir asked, hopeful of his fate.

"By feeding on the blood of other species. To help you, I'll give you something."

Jormungandr came up to Bagir and opened his mouth, giving a drop of venom gathered at the end of his fangs and letting it fall on the little snake's eyes.

"What did you do?"

"I've given you a fragment of my soul. This one will help you in your adventures by giving you knowledge on your opponent and on your abilities."

'Thank you.'

"Well, I have to go." Jormungandr said as a farewell.
