1 The Beginning

In a remote mountainous region, a baby's cries echoed in the night starry sky.

The cries went on for a while until their sound was dampened by a heavy downpour of rain.

.

A silvery white wolf, a rank-1 demonic beast trotted through the forests with her two little cubs who followed closely by her sides. Being overprotective as she was, the cubs didn't really get a chance to venture outside their den.

But today was a lucky day for them as they could finally go out and experience the world outside!

Admist their walk, the night skies suddenly thundered followed by a heavy rainfall. With the sudden change in the weather, the wolf brought in her little ones hastily inside a hollow tree to take cover from the rain.

Only upon reaching inside the hollow tree did the wolf realize that one of her cubs didn't come in with her.

Panicked, the wolf rushed out and looked about for her cub. It howled out many times but didn't receive any reply. But the wolf didn't give up, although it was already drenched by the rain, it still covered her remaining cub in her embrace and prevented the cub from being drenched in the cold rainfall.

As the wolf was about to keep looking, she heard a soft whimper coming from the foot of the nearby mountain.

The wolf's eyes sparkled as she was all too familiar with this sound!

She grabbed onto the cub that lay softly in her embrace by her mouth and immediately ran towards the foot of the mountain.

.

At the foot of the mountain, one could see a small drenched wolf cub standing confused as it looked lost. Originally it was very curious and chased about the falling water droplets in the rain and within a few minutes it got lost and somehow ended up near the foot of a mountain.

The cub continuously shivered due to the cold rain and continuously howled out for its mother which proved as a wasted effort as the rain dampened down his howls.

The cold rain made the cub feel light headed and at same time feel insecure, after letting out its final whimper the cub was about to faint as it felt immensely light-headed.

Just as it was about to blackout, it found itself being lifted up from the ground and dragged inside into a dilapidated old temple that was nearby at the foot of the mountain.

Once inside the temple, the drenched cub felt a warm presence beside himself and it finally regained some energy and opened its curious black beady eyes.

What greeted the cub was an angry stare from the silver wolf that continuously howled at the drenched cub.

*Uuuwaaah Uuuwaaahhh...*

The wolf's howls were interrupted as cries of a baby rang about in the old temple.

The silver wolf became alert and moved slowly towards the source of the sound, her two cubs sticking closely behind.

The old temple wasn't too large and soon the wolf came inside the praying hall of the temple and saw a fair human-baby brawling its voice out.

The baby was covered with rags and inside a small basket.

It was coincidentally placed near the statue that was in the praying hall.

The praying hall was quite wide and had only one statue which was probably some deity with six-arms and it sat in a cross-legged position.

Time had made its mark on the statue as even the facial features of the statue were hard to make out and cracks ran rampantly across the statue but it nevertheless stood firm.

.

The wolf came up to the basket and sniffed the human baby, its action at once stopped the cries of the baby.

Although the baby was seemingly just one or two days-old, It could already move about as it lifted its small arm and touched the wolf's snout.

The wolf merely snorted and made its way beside the statue and laid down to get some rest.

.

It hadn't been long since the wolf closed her eyes to get some sleep when the sounds of the baby's cries rang out once again through the temple.

Annoyed, the wolf stood up but before she could react further the scene before her stupefied her.

Her usually 'well-behaved' cubs had suddenly become a pair of naughty bullies as they continuously nudged at the baby in the basket.

One cub was continuously licking the baby's face which greatly disturbed the baby whereas the other cub, the curious one that had previously gotten itself drenched was trying to push the baby into the corner of the basket as it tried to get inside the basket.
