1 Chapter 1 : Prologue ( Part 1 )

Aeos Magic Academy

Among the many magic schools around the world, it was one of the best.

Each year, thousands upon thousands of students apply to enrol in this institution, but only a chosen few are allowed the chance to do so.

Students from various walks of life, including some of the most prominent and powerful families as well as common and trashy households, come to study here.

Even though the teachers claim and publicise to the world that they treat everyone here equally regardless of their social background, the children from the highest echelons of society had many perks that others from a poorer background did not.

And working as a janitor in such a school is not a simple job.

Every day, the students from the wealthy families tease me, mock me, and try to make my job more difficult by creating a lot of ugly mess, which I unfortunately have to clean every single time because I am the only janitor present in this entire institution.

Man, sometimes I wish that I had a different job, but beggers can't be choosers, right?

Oh yes, I failed to mention that I am from Earth and not an original native of this world.

The world I am currently in was actually a very popular yandere light novel, which unfortunately dropped because the author died before writing the last volume of the series.

However, unlike other individuals, when they are transmigrated, their souls are transferred inside the bodies of other people, but I was transmigrated here in my original body.

And trust me when I say it wasn't simple to settle down here.

This world has its own language to speak and alphabet to write. Nobody here speaks English, Japanese, or any other Earth language, nor do they use ABCD.

I was in an extremely difficult situation; I was all alone in a world that could be said to be foreign and familiar to me at the same time. I had no idea what to do, nor could I ask anyone for help. Even if I did ask for help, none of them would have understood my words.

But I couldn't just sit idle there; I needed to do something if I was going to survive, so I did the only thing I could in this situation, which I never thought I could have done in my entire life: I became a beggar.

Being from an ultra-rich family, it is difficult for me to adjust to my new lifestyle. I, who used to sleep in expensive soft and fluffy beds and had hundreds of servants at his disposal, now had to sleep on hard and cold ground and would take care of myself.

I used to mock poor people and make fun of them.

I always used to flex my wealth whenever I could, showing off expensive cars and hiring many beautiful women to spend a night in my bed.

But these were now just events of the past, and now I had to focus on the present.

I lived on the local streets for five years, begging for food and trying to learn the language by observing their mouth movements and carefully listening to the words they spoke.

It was a slow start, but I eventually managed to learn some native words and figure out their meanings, which allowed me to have some conversation, albeit broken.

However, I was still unable to write or read the strange letters of this world.

and I would have been if I hadn't met her.

Jeanne, my wife—it's all thanks to her that I was able to read and write the letters of this world.

She was just a beggar like me.

I met her on a hot summer day, when she was sitting in one of my favourite begging spots in the local market. I won't go into too many details; I can only say that we fell in love with each other instantly; it was love at first sight.

We two were known as the beggar couple in the entire local market.

I love spending time with my wife.

We relied on the kindness of strangers while living on the streets, especially those who were nice enough to give us blankets to keep us warm during the chilly nights, so I did have the regretful notion that I wasn't able to provide her with a good life.

If only we were on Earth, I would have given her a life fit for a queen.

Then, one day, an elderly butler arrived and introduced himself to my wife and me. He claimed to be Miss Edriva's personal assistant and had come to offer me a position as janitor at the prestigious Aeos Magic Academy.

And that's how I came to know that I was in a yandere lighnovel. At first, I thought I had been transmigrated to a random world as a form of punishment by God for my bad behaviour towards poor people.

Well, it did surprise me a bit, as I had lived here for five years and never found out about that.

Aeos Magic Academy is one of the top three academies in the Deora Kingdom.

The current head of this academy was Miss Edriva Elaris, whose great-grandfather had founded it. It was one of the many places in this kingdom that I wished to avoid.

Now that I think about it, there haven't been any major incidents in the last five years, so I'm guessing the anime part hasn't yet begun.

Then again, I have been living on the streets, so maybe it did; I don't know about that.

So, where did I leave off?

Oh, yes, I was about to decline the offer, considering what was going to happen in this academy in the future.

But then I remembered my wife and how I didn't want her to be homeless forever. So I accepted the offer, but I did inquire as to why I had been chosen.

"You are the most attractive beggar I have ever seen."

That's exactly what he said.

I was not sure how to respond to his response; it was awkward; I'd never been called "handsome" before, not by men; I was called handsome to women, at least on Earth.

My looks had become a complete mess here.

He then walked away, but not before handing me a piece of paper. I took a piece of paper and read what it said.

According to the paper, he had completed his mistress's last order, so he decided to give me and my wife a small plot of land with a small house and some basic necessities as a parting gift.

I burst into tears on the spot; I couldn't believe what I had just read. Seeing that I was crying suddenly, Jeanne inquired as to why I was crying. When I showed her the paper, she also burst into tears.

We finally had a place to live, and I got a job. We will no longer beg or live on the streets.

So here I am, working, and my wife has begun to farm some vegetables on the small plot of land. We were impoverished but content.

We were happy with our lives; we had our own house, a job, and a small farm. That's enough for us.

Now, I should be cleaning; the break period is over.

When I first arrived in this world, I was an arrogant man who had been stripped of his wealth and power and had lived like a beggar, but now I am a humble poor man, and my goal is to live and work for my wife.

"Hey, Janitor, clean this up!" One of the wealthy students called me.

As I went to clean up the mess, a beautiful blonde female student approached me and poured water on my head.

I knew this girl; her name was Marie Marisa, and she was the second daughter of the Marsia Family, one of the most powerful families in this kingdom.

She was one of many people killed in the monster attack.

"And who will clean up this mess, ha?" She smirked. "I heard you were a former begger who only survives by eating dirt and shit."

The rich students in the cafeteria were all laughing at me.

"Don't worry, I'll clean it as well." I said. "And for the beggar part, people will eat anything to survive and live in the streets."

I didn't feel bad about what she had said or done to me; I just ignored it, as I did every other day.

It was just karma; when I was rich, I also used to do the same thing to others.

Besides, it was pointless to become enraged over insults and mockery, especially from people who are above your class.

If I act, I will be the only one who is at a loss, and I don't want to lose my job; this is the only thing I have.
