Grimly night

The same night.

It was eleven in the evening – I think, when I decided to take a walk through the familiar route in the forest. I recently discovered that there’s some group of punks hanging around here, and when I saw that there some guys make their way like a sneaky rat in here, it’s already confirmed. That is why I’m gonna barge in, for a vampire-like me, who am I to pass a free buffet? Nah, just kidding, I’m not like any other vampires who suck the blood out of lust, I have a code, I still value my morality, unlike any other vamps who turn off their humanity to make things easier.

To clarify, I’m here to investigate, there are reports mysterious incidents about people who horrifically snuff out their soul along with the trace of bite marks. You may probably be thinking why I am doing this, no? Well, my family is one of the founders of this city during the 1700s. A sense of responsibility you would say, though my family on the current generation does not welcome me, though they still allowed me to get home most of them left here to another place, not after what happened during the purge.

A few minutes passed, I finally found them. At first, I thought it was just a dissipating fire but then it grew bigger and as I came closer, I can see the shadowy figures of those people. A bonfire? These kids are really in trouble if the sheriff caught them.

I swiftly move in the shadows concealing my presence, then with sheer strength, I jumped on the branch of a tree hopping onto another strong branch, carefully as possible without making any noise. When I finally set up in a high enough, I stare down at them, observing them drinking alcohol. The guy that has a weird combination of hair color pulls out a cigarette, sharing the other pieces to his friends.

I noticed a couple at the back of their car, kissing. The boy laid his hands between her thighs, the woman reaches him too. The two is currently caught up in heat suddenly a chill strikes the spine of the man, he let go of her, his eyes continued altering, she notices the bothered man.

“What’s the matter?” She asked.

He shrugs, “Nothing.”

I didn’t feel anything weird, nor could hear any kind of whiskers or unnatural around the perimeter. Another ten minutes passed, I was beginning to give up but then, a sudden change of atmosphere, a chill environment, like literally, it was then followed by haze filling up the entire place.

One of the gangs stands up, questioning in the cause of sudden changes “Guys, what the hell? Am I hallucinating?”

“Flunk off, Brandon. It’s just the effect of the---” The woman was unable to continue the sentence as she passed out.

“Seriously?” The Brandon guy hissed as he sluggishly walks closer to wood just near to the car and just in front of me, taking a leak. After that, he went to enter the car disturbing the two couples.

“Guys? Are anyone of you seeing this?” Brandon questioned, tapping the man sleeping beside the girl.

"What?" His friend asks and his eyes finally saw the thick fog covering the field.

"What the hell?!" He wakes up the woman, “Hey, hey, we need to get off here now.”

But before he could wake up the others, he was attacked by an unknown figure, it was fast, even I couldn’t catch a glimpse.

“Hey?” Brandon who is still high, asked. “Where the f—”

And then there was a heavy thump and the odd thing is that I could smell blood. He turns around walking aimlessly to the darkness when nearly trips over by something. He turns on the flashlight and sees the horrified body of his friend. He squeaks, accidentally fell in the ground as he losses strength.

“Guys! Guys!” He shouted at them.

“What the hell bruh?”

“We need to get out of here!”

They were about to confront him but stopped as the woman whom he slept with screams in horror seeing the horrified face of his boyfriend. They came closer and saw their friend, dead as he lays in the ground.

They ran panicking inside the car as they saw a shadowy figure passing by in front of them.

I pulled out my cellphone calling the cops.

Locking the door, Brandon rattlingly finds his keys at one of the compartments of the car.

“Hurry!” She yelled.

Finally, he found it and when he turns on the light of the car, the bonfire suddenly blazes stronger. When he finally hits it, the car finally sets into course but that’s not the end of the story because the unknown monster they’re afraid of suddenly jumped in front of the car, stopping it into motion.

“What in the actual fuck?!”

The hood of the car is damaged, and the light is flickering but no monster is there. “Make it work! I don’t want to die in this shitty place!” The lady demanded, just like what a normal person would daresay.

“I know, I know, calm down will ya?!” Brandon yelled the other guy shouted, “We’re gonna die, aren’t we?”

“Shit, shit! What the hell happened back there?!”

When he finally makes it work, the light stops flickering, but then again, this is where the horror starts.

They weren’t sure what is the true form of the shadowy figure, they could only see its outline and its red eyes glaring at them, but they knew that it is not something they could handle and add the fact the haze isn’t gone yet, and this adds tension.

I could hear their hearts racing faster than normal, their movement froze and in a second, the monster vanished in thin air, but all I could see is the fast movements of it. Brandon observes, his eyes looking side to side, anxious.

“Just pump it! That thing is gonna kill us!”

Snapped out, Brandon pumps the gas, but he stopped in motion, his face turns pale, his lips turn grey and his eyes are narrowing steady, they didn’t even realize that Brandon is already dead. With no driver, the car crashes at the near tree. They don’t even have the chance to react.

I cut off a branch of a tree – making two stakes: holding on both of my hands. I don’t think I can rationalize this monster, giving the fact that he murdered one of them. With the car crashing, there’s no way that they could quickly run away from that monster.

They woke up, they get out of the car that is currently smoking. The girl, coughing – looks at the front seat he looks at Brandon at the mirror and sees him dead. She screams and fell to her knees, his two friends that manage to get out of the car gets closer to her helping her to stand up.

They walk sluggishly holding each other’s shoulder, but little do they know the monster is walking beside them, pretentiously rested on someone’s shoulder. As he checks on him, dark dole eyes widened and instantly pushed him away. They two looked at him, disbelief for it is the woman’s boyfriend, but the one they’ve known could no longer trace on his current grim appearance.

His skin is pale, the lips are grey and seemingly the blood on his strained veins could no longer be traced. He slowly gets up, and walks, almost running, but they couldn’t take any chance as he gets closer to him. They run not minding at each other, only wants to get away from this nightmare.

The monster was about to catch up with the woman, but I struck the stake on the monster’s stomach.

“Oh no, you don’t. It’s just gonna be you—” I said also looking behind, talking to the monster who causes this “, and you and me.” With that, a smirk was written on my face

I pulled out the stake and kicks his torso.

“Hello there.”

The monster growls as he spread his wings, but not like the wings on the holistic scriptures, the monster’s wings a devilish one, dark wings, skins stretched by the bones like a bat.

“What do we have here? You have a devilish wing.” I amusedly said.

The moon makes a stripling light against the tall trees as it set down at the west. With the provided light, the monster’s true appearance settled on my mind. The blood drenches from the flesh on his mouth slowly chewing by his strong teeth, streaming down to its bulky front with the ribcage outlines could be seen beneath the burnt skin, eyes were red as blood, the twisted devilish horns from its forehead grew longer with the root widened, not hurting it seems from the stretching skin and his grim claws ready to cut down anything blocking its path.

“You’ve gotta be kidding me,” I muttered. I am not amused by the change of tide. There’s no way I could take on this guy. Maybe, probably, depends on the plot armor.

The monster snarls, his tongue showing an excessive secretion of saliva. “You kiss your mother with that tongue?”

The monster charges, I evaded quickly, in an explicable speed I aimed at its torso, but it was not deep enough. He growls and quickly flaps his wings with my vision disturbs as I use my arm to protect my eyes.

He lunges towards me with its claws and again, one of the perks of being a vampire, super speed, I managed to evade with the cost of scraping my shirt.

He stops, his eyes altered - realizing that I – his prey is already gone. This time, he growls in distress.

“Shit just got real.”

His eyes are furious as he launches towards me again but this time, he's using his full strength. I couldn’t catch up with its movements and I was momentarily dragged by the monster. I tried to free myself from his grip by stabbing his arm. Leaving no choice, he throws me. My back landed at the tree; I stretched my arms as I properly stand up, blood drips on my mouth.

“Shit.”

He landed in front of me.

“Now, I’m not happy.” I hissed and quickly get behind him but this time I couldn’t care less, I need to put a distance and carefully chose my next move. The first thing that I should do is to reduce the probability of being at a disadvantage, the obvious thing that put me at a disadvantage is the fact that he has wings and that’s what I’m aiming for now.

He tried to catch me with his claws but lucky bastard as I am, I quickly change my pace, confused by my movements, I find an opening, I throw my stake onto its wings, I succeeded though, succeeded on pissing him off.

He grabs me in the neck, this monster thinks I care if I couldn’t breathe, I’m undead, you can’t kill by choking me, you’ll need to stake my heart to do that. I was confident, not until he did something unusual, his mouth opened wide closed to my face, his breath stinks, but that’s not all of it. His eyes began to emit light, the same happens to his mouth and with that, I could something twitched inside of me. Not knowing what will happens next scares me, so with all strength, I’ve got I use it to put a stake on his jaw – piercing through its brain.

I didn’t bother to look back as I tried to regain my balance. I ran, not because of the monster, it’s because of the strength that is slowly vanishing.

“Not, c-c-cool.”

I run and stopped then run again – trying to hold myself together. I know that I somehow killed the monster, but then again, the devil’s luck is on his side, as could hear the familiar growl enough for me to hear in such far distance.

I’m sure any moment now, it will be dawn. And my destination is nearby.
