Chapter 14

The lawn, like every other lawn, had turned into a mud field. The graveled trail was mostly concealed by water puddles.

“I hate rain.” Gael wrung some drops out of his messy black hair. “I always believed my last night would be in the summer. The air pleasantly warm, people laughing and smelling of sunshine. I miss sunshine.”

“People smell of sunshine?”

Archie shrugged. He didn’t have a clue, but something needing to be found was there, and it was moving.

“I’ll go check.”
