23 Chapter 23: Zeta

"Do you want to come with me?" - asked Akira, walking to the cat's cage.

"Nya ~ nya ~ nya ~" - the cat replied, shaking her head.

'She seems to have some intelligence' - thought Akira upon seeing that the cat was able to understand him and began to wonder if it was a good idea to keep her.

"Well, it doesn't matter, since she can't talk right now," Akira mumbled as he approached the cage and decided not to kill the cat since it couldn't speak.

Akira grabbed the bars and bent them easily, allowing him to enter the cage.

Akira slowly walked over to the cat and squatted down. A golden ripple appeared next to it and took out a cat collar.

Akira picked up the cat's collar and put it on the cat's neck, which did nothing but stare at Akira.

"Your name will be..." - said Akira, pausing for a moment to think of a name, but he could only come up with one - "Your name would be Zeta."

Akira didn't know if it was because he was in the world of Kage no jitsuryokusha or because the cat's fur and eyes were similar to Zeta's, but he couldn't get Zeta's name out of his head and didn't care much about why.

As soon as Akira uttered Zeta's name, longing flared up a little and carved Zeta's name on it.

Akira went out into the woods and started walking towards the city to return to the hotel.

"Oh Shin, Alpha, hi guys" - Akira replied naturally which made Shin and Alpha look at him puzzled.

Thanks to Akira's high acting skill, Shin and Alpha were unable to notice something strange, which made them doubt Rimuru's words.

"Master, are you okay?" - asked Alpha worriedly and rushed towards Akira.

"…" - Shin remained silent and stared at Akira because now he could smell the thick blood coming from Akira.

"Master, are you injured?" - asked Alpha worriedly upon seeing the blood on Akira's clothes.

"I'm fine, and this is not my blood, but a huge sneer monster that I killed earlier, and that's why my clothes are full of blood" - Akira replied with a smile and lied as easily as breathing.

"Thank God~" - Alpha sighed with relief knowing that Akira was okay.

Honestly, Alpha didn't know why she was so worried about Akira.

Akira may have saved her from her condition earlier, but she and Akira are just strangers who only met for one day, so she didn't understand why she was so worried about him.

"..." - Shin Bakira stared with narrow eyes and didn't say anything because each of them has a secret of their own that they don't want to tell others.

"Shall we go back now?" - Akira asked, ignoring Shin's piercing stare.

"Let's go back, but Rimuru and Yuki-san went to look for you in the other part of the forest," Shin replied, turning his eyes back on Akira.

"Never mind, I'll try to communicate with him telepathically," said Akira, closing his eyes to communicate with Rimuru.

<Do you hear me, Rimuru>?

< Akira? Where are you now >

<Okay, Yuki-san and I will be back right away>

"Let's go, I've contacted Rimuru" - said Akira and walked back to the hotel with Zeta on his shoulder and Shin and Alpha by his side.
