47 Not part of the family

When Patel woke up the next morning It was six in the morning. She quickly got up and placed the external hearing devices behind her ears before she turned them on and got off the bed, Heading towards the balcony.

She didn't want to miss the bride's morning chirping. It was something that she had read about only in books and always wanted to hear.

Stepping inside the balcony with her bare feet, She sat on the chair and started to enjoy the quietness of the place along with the bride's relaxing chirping.

Somehow her life turned out to be good and she was glad. Three months ago, She hadn't thought that she could escape from her father's prison. Patel spent most of her life alone. She was homeschooled. She didn't have any friends except for Jacob. He was her only true friend.

She had missed him so much. She didn't know when he would be back, But she was sure that he would Because he never broke a promise that he promised her.

Later after breakfast.

"Patel, Are you ready?" Alice asked.

Patel looked at her confused and asked for a signal.

"Why?"

"Oh, Did you forget? Didn't I tell you that we will go shopping today?" Alice reminded her.

Patel faced the expressions of, Oh, Now I remembered.

"Shopping for what?" She asked signaling knowing that Alice could understand her ASL language a little now.

"Oh, I didn't tell you, We have a banquet next week that will be held here in the mansion Since you and I don't have gowns for the banquet to dress.

Patel didn't reply immediately, She wanted to refuse because she is not part of this family so she shouldn't be present there.

Picking the small notebook that Noah had gifted her last week and started to write something on it.

"It's a banquet for the family and I'm not part of it. It's inconvenient to attend it, I apologize but I can't." Patel wrote and showed it to Alice.

Reading what was written, Alice pouted her lips.

"But you are part of the family, Patel, Mam will be so sad when she hears this."Alice pulled out her mother's card knowing how Patel love's her.

Patel started to write something else in the notebook before she showed it to her.

"I'm sorry, But I just don't want to, please don't be sad."

Alice sighed reading what Patel wrote, It seems that she couldn't convince her.

"Okay, I won't pressure you, I will get going now, See you later." Alice said as she stood up and left the mansion.

Ethan, who was coming down the stairs after he finished speaking with his mother, heard his sister talking to Patel and he stopped hiding there to hear the conversation.

To him, It seemed a little suspicious that she didn't want to attend the banquet. Maybe she had something in her mind that she wanted to do while everyone was busy during the banquet.
