The First Day (1 January)

~The best place in the world is the place where you're arround~

As the morning came, the sun's shine reached the rooftop of a villa. A girl, who was sleeping on the rooftop, woke up due to the rays. Beside her, a boy was sleeping on his sleeping bag. Yes, they were spending the new year's night together on the rooftop.

"Ughh…" She stretched her body, then with half-opened eyes, she grabbed her phone. "Ah, it's a new day and first day in 2022 indeed," she smiled gratefully that she could make it to 2022.

Not long after that, the boy also woke up from his sleep. "Morning, Eve," he said as he rubbed his eyes. "Happy new year."

Eve, the girl, smiled at him. "Happy new year to you too."

Both of them were silent for a moment, gathering all their strength to actually start their day. The bright and beautiful morning sky with a cool breeze raised their mood.

The boy slowly took some leftover snacks from yesterday's movie night and ate them while watching the sky.

"Is it still edible? I will make some breakfast," Eve stopped the boy from eating. She was worried since it was leftover.

On the contrary, the boy showed no problem with the snack. "Yes, it is. But, your food will be better."

"Alright, I'll cook some," Eve stood up and went downstairs to cook something.

Meanwhile, the boy was busy tidying up the mess from the party. There were several leftover snacks, plastic bags, plates, a laptop, and two sleeping bags. It was a really fun new year movie night party.

When he was done, he went downstairs to get Eve. "Oh, you come at the right time, Vict. Breakfast is ready!" Eve welcomed him with two plates of toast with a sausage in each of them. "Here."

"Thank you so much Eve. Your cooking is the best!" Vict, as the boy was called, ate his breakfast.

Eve also did the same, sitting in front of Vict and eating her breakfast. "Ah, I almost forgot that we have to go shopping on our way later. We have to buy something for your sister and friends," Eve clasped her hands.

"Got it," said Vict before he took another bite. "Now, we still have plenty of time to be spent here. Think about what you want to do before we leave."

"I'm not sure about it. We watched fireworks, movies, and ate snacks. What should we do next?" Eve rubbed her chin. "Well, the last thing I want to do is shopping. I think…" She wasn't sure.

Vict chuckled. "You really have no way to have some fun, huh?" He messed up Eve's hair. "Come on, think about something that you like to do! It's a new year."

Eve really didn't have any idea about what to do before she left the villa. "You also don't have any idea what to do, right? That's why you asked me," she pouted her cheek.

"Well, yeah. I like to do something that you like. I'm that simple."

Having no idea of what to do, both of them ended up staying at the rooftop, enjoying the scenery that was so different from the hectic city. "Where do you want to go next?" Vict asked.

"I don't have any particular place in mind. Even just to stay at home and do something fun will do," Eve smiled. 'To be honest, next to you is the best place ever,' she couldn't say that.

"Then, what do you want to do?"

"There are some projects I want to try. That tutoring program and the programming as well. Ah, they're some self projects I want to do too."

Vict's eyes widened, as Eve mentioned everything she wanted to try and have to do. "You really have a lot to do, even on a holiday like this. Just like our previous holiday."

"How about you? I'm sure you also have things you want to do. At least for this year."

Vict nodded. "Since both of us have a lot of things we want, do you want to write it as our target?"

Eve nodded, agreed with Vict. He then stood up and walked to his room to pick up a4 paper and two pens. "Let's write it. This side is yours, and this is mine."

"Okay."

Both of them wrote their target. Eve wrote all the projects she wanted to do. The writings, tutorings, and programming. Not only that, there were several things she wanted to learn.

Vict, he had something he wanted to do as well. He wrote the classes he wanted to take for the next semester, journals he wanted to learn and explore, and his plan about practical classes at the hospital.

"Woah, you really wrote that! Such a hard learner!" Eve read Vict's target.

"Well, I want to be a good doctor." Vict smiled, thinking about the girl she liked the most. Although he became a medical student on his own, that girl became the reason why he studied harder. Such a fortunate girl

"Well, well, everyone wants to be good at their field. So let's do our best for this year as well."

Eve took her pen and wrote two words on the paper.

She wrote their name above their targets."Both of us will surely achieve these targets!"

That was how the new year went for this couple-like friend. Spending their time together at a villa, refreshing their mind. Because once the first day ended, they would go back to their hectic life.

Victor would be busy with his study and research, maybe it would include practice for practical class. While Eve, during the holiday she was focused more on projects, and assisting Victor when he practiced his medical skill. She used to be his 'patient'; a win-win solution for them: Victor could practice and Eve had a 'personal doctor'.
