One week later, the anticipation of going home lifted my spirits. Alex was waiting in the hospital room, packing our things, and my mom was on her way. Despite the challenges, Alex had been incredibly supportive, trying to make up for everything. However, the weight of concealing my pregnancy from my parents lingered, and I decided to postpone sharing the news until after my mom's birthday in two weeks.
Alex and I spent most of our time together, reading, eating, and occasionally having Angel around. However, I preferred her not to witness my struggles. She stayed with us most of the time, but I insisted my mom take her away during my difficult moments.
"Hey Julie, are you ready? Your mom is here," Alex called from outside the door.
"Almost ready, just need to pack a few things. Did you see my medication?"
"Yeah, love, I packed them. Come on, everyone is waiting for us at home."
