Chapter 14
It was one of the best evenings in my life. I was happy that everyone was enjoying the party. The hot tub was finally ready, Jess and Alex were already into it. Otis was sitting outside with Jason, Zach's best friend. I was too drunk to go inside a hot tub but since Zach wanted to go in I couldn't deny. I went upstairs and changed into my bikini. We all were relaxing in that. Even Otis and Jason joined us. Jessica's skin was hot red so she jumped out and dragged Alex with her. Otis went out too as he wanted to grab some snake. It was just me, Zach and Jason chilling. Both of them were telling me their childhood stories and about the fun they had together. While listening to that I passed out, as I was heavily drunk.
When I got up in the morning I was fresh and there were no signs of hangover. But I was lying naked inside my blanket. I panicked and and rushed to get dressed. I immediately ran downstairs, where Jessica and Alex were in a deep sleep. Otis was lying listing to music and Zach was making breakfast.
"Good morning sweetheart." Zach kissed on my forehead.
"Zach I need to talk to you."
"Yes. But first you need to need to have the breakfast."
"It's about yesterday and it's urgent."
"Ok fine. Tell."
"Did something happened yesterday? Like between us?"
"You are talking about sex? So what do think might have happened?"
"I'm fucking serious."
"No. Nothing happened. I never wanted you in your unconscious state."
I just smiled at him. I didn't have words to express how good he is, like he is such a gentlemen.
"But Maya I need you to take this pill."
"Why?"
"Because I don't want your head to ache because of drinking last night."
He passed me the pill and a glass of water.
"Thanks."
I woke up Jess and Alex and we all sat down to have our breakfast. And Otis told us about the fair tonight in the community ground. And we all decided to go there. It was near the Brooklyn Bridge which is hardly far away from New York. I knew that my friends from there might be coming but this time I didn't wanted to stop myself because of them. I was tempted to meet Anna, Noah, Tessa, Steph and Camellia but I wanted to stay away from everything that was somewhere related to Steve.
In the evening we all got ready and Jason was going to pick us today as he had a big car and all of us enjoyed his company. But apart from all this happening there was something that was going on. Everyone since morning was acting weird as if they've killed someone. But I didn't really paid any attention to it.
We all went to the fair and it was so beautiful over there. Zach told me that he wanted to ride on the Ferris Wheel. I accompanied him. I was sitting on the Ferris wheel like after decades. It was so fun in there. Our couch stopped at top and Zach sat down on in knees in that little space. He had proposed me before but it was very indirect and this time it was perfect.
"So Maya I'm doing this properly this time as I really don't wanna lose you. So will you be my girlfriend like officially."
"Of course Zach. It's all just so perfect. Thank you so much for all this."
He kissed me there and it all felt like a movie. I was never expecting all this from him. But I think I've never said this but you know Zach always did things which were not expected.
The Ferris wheel was fun. After that we all went to a shop to get some cotton candy. I was having my cotton candy when someone pulled me from behind and hugged me.
"It's been so long we haven't meet." It was Anna's voice. I turned behind and my whole past group was standing there including Steve and Amelia. My heart was in my mouth as I didn't expected to see Steve at all.
"Hi guys." I finally managed to say.
"What the fuck Maya. Where were you?" Tessa asked.
"I actually shifted to Brooklyn. And by the way these are my friends Jessica, Otis, Alex and Jason. And the one standing near the parking spot in the blue jacket is my boyfriend Zach."
"Moved on aye." Steph smirked.
"You don't even have the idea how much me and Anna have missed you man." Noah said hugging me tightly.
"I missed you all too."
"How are you Maya." Amelia asked removing Steve's hand from her shoulder. I felt like beating the shit out of her but I tried to be clam.
"I'm good. What about you and Steve?"
"We both are good." Steve answered.
He smiled at me. That smile was so good it was one of the reason I had fallen for him once.
"What you guys doing?" Zach came finally.
"Umm.. These are Maya's friends from the other branch." Otis answered.
"Oh.. So whose Steve?" Zach asked.
"I'm Steve." Steve answered firmly.
"Heard a lot about you man." Zach said in a taunting way and smirked at him.
"Why don't you guys join us for dinner." Noah asked.
"No." I shouted.
"Yes." Zach said.
We both said it together. I stared at him so that he could understand that I'm not interested in going. But then everyone agreed. So I had to go with them. And it sucked.
I sat with all the girls and the boys took another table. It was dam irritating as I had to sit with a girl who used to be my best friend and then she betrayed me and cheated on me with my boyfriend and that too on my birthday.
I literally tried my best to ignore Amelia and talked more with others expect her. I was really pissed off with my current group because they fucking agreed for the dinner. As soon as everyone finished I rushed to go back. Anna took my new number so that she and Noah can at least be in touch. Even Steph and Tessa took my number and even planned for a meet.
Jason got the car from the parking lot and I jumped inside as fast as I could as I couldn't bear anything now. Everyone else said as proper good bye to each other and then they too sat inside the car.
"What the fuck was wrong with you Zach?" I busted out on him.
"I was just been friendly." he replied in a clam tone.
"Friendly with whom? To the people who fucked up my life. You know it was not easy for me to leave everyone and everything but still you don't understand any of that."
He didn't replied and their was a tension in the atmosphere. No one spoke until we reached my house. Jess and Alex came with me as Alex was staying over at Jessica's. Zach came out and gave me a good bye hug but I ignored him as I was pissed off.
I opened my house and it was dark and empty. No friends, no parents. I went upstairs to my room and jumped into my bed and felt asleep in a few minutes.
