Chapter 12

When I woke up I was laying on my sofa and Anna and Noah were sitting beside me. Steph, Tessa and Camellia were sitting on the dining and Amelia and Steve were not there.

I got up to sit, Anna gave me some support.

"Are you ok Maya?" Noah asked.

"You and Anna knew about it. Right?"

"No. Maya I just lied yesterday that it was Steve's plan and Anna didn't even knew about it." Noah explained.

"Anna did u knew about it?"

"Obviously not. But I knew him well that's why I warned you."

"Where is Steve? I need to talk to him."

"He's outside in the garden. I'll call him" Noah went outside to call Steve.

He came in and there was a expression of guilt on his face. Everyone else left the room and went upstairs.

"Why Steve? Why me?"

"I'm very sorry Maya. It was not intentional. Like I knew Amelia since a very long time and I had a crush on her long back and now when i meet her things happened automatically."

"Really. Whom do you consider as a fool? Me or yourself? Nothing happens automatically. You fucked up. You cheated on me, with my best friend, on my fucking birthday."

"And I'm sorry."

"Shut the fuck up Steve. And where is Amelia?"

"She's gone home crying. She was really upset. Please don't be upset from her it's not her mistake."

"You think I'm an idiot. She was not drunk or drugged. Whatever she did, she did it in all her conscious. And I don't wanna see her face again. "

"Maya I think you are overreacting."

"Seriously. First you and my bestie cheated on me that too on my birthday and you think now I'm overreacting. Have you totally lost it or what? "

"Sorry."

"Shut up. And get the fuck out of my house. Get out. " I should so loudly that Anna and Noah came running down.

"Steve I think you should go." Anna shouted.

"What the fuck Anna. You were my best friend. You should be on my side."

"Not when you fuck someone's life. "

"What the fuck is wrong with you. Noah at least you come with me." Steve said as he kept his hand on Noah's shoulder.

"Back off man. Maya is my friend and what you did is not right so it would be better if you maintain the distance from her."

"Seriously dude. Ok fine. I know I fucked up but it doesn't means that all of you will leave me."

"Just give it some time Steve. But now please leave." Noah told him firmly.

After Steve left I was no longer in a state to even speak to someone. I directly went upstairs and crawled inside my bed. I don't know when everyone left. Anna and Noah stayed at my place. Tears flooded from my eyes. And all the memories I had with Amelia and Steve kept on flashing on my mind.

When I got up Anna was downstairs. She was reading the newspaper.

"Good morning Maya. Are you better now?"

"Umm.. I don't know. Where's Noah?"

"He's gone. He has a match today. And I'll advise you to put some makeup today, your eyes look as if you haven't slept since weeks."

"I have to."

"And if you want you can miss today's classes."

"No, I can't. My parents are coming back today."

"Oh. It's fine. I'll be there with you."

I smiled at her and went back upstairs to have shower. I couldn't stop my tears when ever I thought about him. And he was stuck in my mind.

I dressed up and applied some makeup to look fresh.

When me and Anna reached to the school everyone was staring at me. I couldn't get it. By that time Camellia came running to me. She showed me her phone. There was a rumor spread in a whole school about me having sex talk with the boys. It was so humiliating and insulting.

"Who did that?" Anna asked.

"Steve." Camellia answered.

I was shocked. Till yesterday he was so sorry and now he's taking this some sought of revenge but humiliating me.

Steve walked down through the corridor.

"What the fuck Steve." I shouted.

"Why are you always shouting Maya. And it's true right. That's why it was so easy to get you." Steve said laughing and walked away.

I was numb and was left speechless. I walked out of the school crying. I booked the cab and went back to my house. Before I could take out my keys my mom opened the door.

"Maya you are back so early today?" I immediately wiped my face.

"Oh yes mom. I wasn't feeling well so that's why I took a leave."

"Maya you are back?" dad asked.

"Yes dad. I was feeling feverish."

"Must have partied hard yesterday. So, how was your party?"

I went back to the thoughts of yesterday's party. And my heart ached. My dad shook my shoulder and I was back to the reality.

"The party was good dad. When did both of you came back?"

"It's been half an hour."

"Mom, dad actually I need to say something."

"What?" Both of them said together.

"I wanna move to Brooklyn. It's nearby like a few mile and I will change my branch and anyways you and mom are moving to India so it won't be a problem."

"What happened Maya? Is everything OK?"

"Yeahs absolutely dad. It's just that I've heard that my highschools branch is much better in Brooklyn."

"Ok. As it is we are moving to India. So we can rent this house and can buy a house in there. Will that be good?" Dad said.

"Yeah. And one more thing. I even want a new phone and even a new. SIM."

"Why?"

"No questions dad. Please."

"Ok fine. I'll get you a SIM tomorrow and I'll transfer you some money so you can buy a phone of your choice."

"Thanks dad."

For the whole day I did nothing but laid on my bed thinking about everything. And I dozed off lying.

When I woke up it was 10:30 so quickly dressed up and took the car keys from dad. He gave me my new SIM and the money. I directly drove to Brooklyn. It was a week day and I stood on the Brooklyn Bridge staring at the river. I took out my old phone. There were a lot of messages and voice mails from my friends and even from Steve. I didn't opened any of them. Tears came out flooding and I tossed my phone into the river.
