Chapter 3: 5 billion worth

Vin was running in her dream. She wore a long dark red robe and it was midnight. The trees were swaying and the moonlight was eerie. But Vin had only one destination in mind. The Imperial Temple. She reached the door and panted.

A shadow appeared out of nowhere and hugged her. Vin didn't see his face but she felt it familiar. Before she could ask something, Vin woke up in cold sweat.

"Master, master, did you have a nightmare? You were thrashing. I couldn't wake you up."

Vin looked at the blue fur and hugged it close to her chest. The dream was so real like it had happened to her before. But it didn't make any sense to her. Vin calmed her breathing and looked at the time. It was five in the morning. She decided to go for a run and clear her mind.

Vin had spent last ten years as a boy. She had a charm placed on her to mask her identity. Vin only remembered that it was done by her parents before they died. The moment she opened her eyes later, she was in a hospital in different country. She didn't remember going there and coming back. Her mind was a mess. But she had to live her life searching for her lost memories and her guardian.

And most importantly she became an orphan. She had no one in her family. But Vin wasn't the one who would step back. She had promised her parents so she would live her life. She started working and founded V group. She was eleven years old. And now she was twenty years old and her company was thriving.

'Master, Mistress had a dream about her past.'

Arya was meditating when he heard this.

'She is remembering her life, then will we also get our memories back?'

'Yes, as soon as she remembers, we will also remember.'

'But why did we forget?'

'It looks like a deep magic spell. Maybe it wasn't good if we knew our past.'

'But master, mistress will be strained trying to remember her past. Her mind will be overloaded.'

'I know, that's why I'll be staying by her side so she wouldn't get herself in danger.'

'What kind of danger, master?'

'Shadow guards, they are still alive. They are scattered all over the world. I think they would want to harm us if they realise that we activated our magic.'

'Like they would dare,' Arya snorted. He would kill every danger before it reached her. He always felt a strong pull towards her from the day he saw her stealing the crystal. He didn't know the reason but he only knew that she was someone he could never live without. He observed her from afar without disturbing her. He knew that she hunted magical criminals. He also knew about the charm that disguised her appearance as a boy. He felt bad that she can't be her real self due to hidden dangers. No matter what, her safety was his utmost priority.

Vini chased the scarred man in the abandoned alley. The cats stared at them and Vini felt annoyed. That stupid guy swindled money using ghosts. It wasn't any offense but then he started killing people. That was unforgivable. Now Vini had to catch him and strip his power. But he was one step ahead, for now.

Vini had enough of this chase. She also had works to do at home. She didn't have to waste her time on these trivial matters. She created a force field twenty feet ahead of the scarred man. He collided with it in a full speed and was thrown back. Vini puffed her cheeks and glared at him.

He sprawled on the broken concrete and looked at Vini with hate filled eyes. Vini ignored him and began her work. Before she could complete the enchantment, the man used his powers to summon ghosts. The translucent figures swarmed Vini. They couldn't harm Vini but they could surely delay her and drain her energy. It was like showering in cold water every time a ghost passed through her. Vini closed her eyes and pulled all the ghosts to her left and enclosed them in the magical field. Then she turned towards the scarred man.

"Sir, you have broken the magic rules. You cannot kill anyone with your powers. But you killed a family. Do you plead guilty?"

The man did not react. Vini knew he wouldn't because the ghosts had corrupted his mind. Ghosts were depressive in nature but some of the spirits were malicious. They only wanted destruction and such ghosts would surely affect anyone's mind. Vini knew that the man wasn't a bad person but he still committed a crime. She could not kill him but removing his power would hurt those malicious spirits attached to him. Those spirits leeched on his life spirit and became addicted. Without his power, their conversion would be gone and this matter would be rest. And he would be living his life in detention centre for the charge of murders.

Vini broke the bridge of magic and his soul and he fainted. She immediately left before the police arrived at the scene. Vini had been working on cases like this for two years. She found many hidden secrets and she never doubted that the world appeared more beautiful than it originally was.

Vini returned to her place and found Ni munching on chocolates. Vini shook her head helplessly and prepared dinner. She ate while watching TV and saw the news. Ni was happily sleeping beside her. Vini checked the magical darknet for jobs and found many interesting jobs.

There was an auction for magical crystals and Vini wanted to check it out. She made plans for the weekend before seeing a new alert. It wasn't anything special but it was a lightning strike to Vini.

"Willing to pay 5 billion to anyone who finds self illuminating blue and pink crystals"

The blue crystal was with her. Which meant someone knew her secret and her life was in danger. But on the bright side she also had a partner in this life threatening situation. She only had to find the owner of her compliment crystal. It wasn't an easy job but Vini wasn't known for doing things in an easy way.
