Throughout his journey, Evan kept thinking about how he could return to the current situation.

"This left eye..." he mumbled.

The mysterious left eye with black pupils and white cornea. Evan glanced back at Alicia and thought to himself, "It seems like she's not aware of this."

Evan continued walking in his worn-out and dirty academy uniform through the wilderness until he saw sunlight in the distance. He and Alicia kept moving forward and ended up facing a high cliff.

From the top, they saw a village, or perhaps more accurately, it was too big to be called a village.

Alicia took a slow step and looked down at the tall cliff, then said, "How do we get down?"

The place was unique, surrounded only by cliffs that enclosed the settlement, like it was trapped.

"Just jump," Evan quipped.

"What?!" exclaimed Alicia.

Without hesitation, Evan leaped down without knowing how high it was, followed hesitantly by Alicia. Evan landed softly like silk due to his wind magic, while Alicia landed gracefully, gliding in the air using her ice magic before gently touching down.

Evan looked at Alicia and thought, "Not bad."

After reaching the bottom of the settlement, Evan saw a gate right in front of them, making him think that—

"Move aside! You're blocking the way! Let His Majesty pass!" someone shouted from behind them.

They stepped aside and saw a procession of soldiers and nobles passing by.

"His Majesty," said the soldier, probably referring to a king?

Evan didn't care at all.

"Demon! There's a demon here!" one of the soldiers yelled.

They pointed their swords and spears at Alicia. Evan finally realized it, but once again, he didn't care because it was Alicia's choice to follow him.

The soldier continued to press Alicia backward, preventing her from moving. Until at one point, they heard a soft, gentle male voice saying, "Stop!" The man stepped forward and halted the soldier's movement to corner Alicia.

"B-but Your Highness!" one of the soldiers exclaimed.

"Lower your weapons. She hasn't raised hers," he said.

"Your Highness, she's a demon! We can't just let her be! The city might be in danger!" another one shouted.

"Silence," he commanded.

As soon as those words left his mouth, everyone felt a drastic change in the atmosphere, causing them all to lower their weapons without exception. Even Alicia herself was surprised, sensing a greater threat than the others, except for Feliciel.

The blue-haired King smiled as he looked at Alicia and asked, "Forgive me, young girl. What brought you to this land?"

"I-i...." Alicia stammered nervously.

She was extremely anxious.

"She's my friend," Evan interjected.

Evan closed his left eye, hoping no one would notice that part of his genetic makeup had changed.

The King then turned to Evan and asked again, "Friend? How can a human be friends with a demon?"

Evan didn't answer the question and continued to stare at him with his left eye closed and a sharp gaze.

They remained silent for a while. After a few seconds, the King said, "Fine. But on one condition."

Evan remained silent, prompting the King to answer his own statement.

"If anything happens, be it small or big trouble, this girl will be killed on the spot. The same goes for you, young man," he said.

His gaze remained as sharp as ever, and then he suddenly smiled and turned back to enter his golden carriage.

The procession continued on, passing by the two of them into the kingdom.

"Thank you," Alicia said.

With a cynical look, Evan replied, "I didn't do this for you. Besides, if you die, it's actually good for me."

Evan turned around and headed toward the gate. Alicia hesitated for a moment, then forced herself to walk alongside Evan.

Inside the city, all the residents looked at them. Some felt disgusted, fearful, or threatened by the presence of a demon there. The merchants even threw spoiled vegetables and fruits at Alicia. The moment finally ended when Evan arrived at his destination, the Adventurer's Guild.

As Evan tried to open the door, suddenly someone else opened it from the inside, making them face each other at once.

The man is extraordinarily big, evident from his muscles. He looks down at Evan since he's naturally very tall.

"Hello, little boy," he said.

Evan remains silent, not looking at the man.

"What's wrong? Am I too big for you to get through?" he said again.

Evan slowly looks up, smirks, and replies, "No, I'm just thinking about how small your 'tool' must be compared to your massive body."

With that sarcastic remark, any man would get angry. The big man gets furious, and he immediately tries to punch Evan's face. But as the punch comes, Evan easily stops it and lets his hand loosen.

"I'm new here, so please cooperate, sir," he says sarcastically.

Evan removes his hand and enters with Alicia behind him.

Inside, all the adventurers look at Alicia with displeasure. Some even grip their swords.

"Welcome to the Adventurer Guild, how can I assist you?" says the beautiful sisterly receptionist behind the desk.

She's quite beautiful, older than Evan, but her red hair can easily captivate anyone. However, Evan doesn't seem interested; maybe he likes someone else?

"I want to become adventurer," Evan answers shortly.

"Alright, place your hand on this device," she says.

The device is a shiny black rectangular stone. As Evan places his hand on it, a card slowly forms and hovers above the table.

The card takes shape with its characteristic golden color. What surprises the receptionist is the data written on the card.

Name: Evan

Class: All round

Race: Human

Ranking: S?

"Done?" asks Evan.

Nervously, the receptionist replies, "Y-yes, it's done, M-Mr. Evan."

Confused, Evan takes the card and asks, "Mr.?"

"I'm only 17 years old," Evan continued.

The red-haired sister is even more surprised. It's impossible for someone as young as Evan to easily achieve an S rank.

"Go-good luck!" she stammers.

Perplexed by her reaction, Evan puts the card into his pants pocket. When everything is settled, he heads to the quest board to earn some money.

Without hesitation, he chooses the highest-level quest, according to his current rank. Not because of his high rank, but simply because he doesn't care.

"Report!" someone suddenly shouts as they burst through the door.

"A Hybrid Black Panther has been killed by a mysterious person!" he exclaims.

The person doesn't seem like an adventurer; they appear to be an ordinary individual.

"Hey, hey, hey, are you serious?" asks one of the adventurers at the dining table.

At the same time, another group enters, carrying a cart with the body of the panther, which is decapitated.

"No head?!"

"Tail cut off?!"

"Hey hey... Seriously?"

"No one accepted that quest..."

"This creature is more dangerous than any other S-rank quest!!!"

Evan remains unfazed and continues to walk towards the reception desk, bringing the quest paper with him.

"What?!"

The receptionist is also shocked by Evan's quest choice, as it's even crazier than the panther quest. It says, "Kill the Hydra blocking the trade route between two kingdoms. This quest is directly issued by King Neviella."

"Are you sure, sir? It's very dangerous! Even the King has requested assistance from the Ethor Kingdom!" she exclaims.

"Why haven't they arrived yet, then?" Evan asks directly.

She just remained silent, as did Alicia. Both women couldn't comprehend what's on Evan's mind right now.

Suddenly, a loud roar echoed outside, followed by people screaming.

"We're doomed..." said the receptionist kneeling weakly.

Evan stepped outside, followed by Alicia and other adventurers. They saw a massive shadow flying above them. As they looked up, everyone started running to save themselves, except for Evan. Although Alicia didn't run either, she trembled with fear.

The sound of galloping horses was heard, and someone shouted, "Save yourselves! Forget your belongings! Leave your homes! Your lives are more valuable than riches!"

Everyone ran following the King's command. Evan still stood there, gazing at the three-headed dragon flying.

"Both of you, leave this place!" he barked at Evan and Alicia.

"And what about you?" Evan asked seriously.

The King hesitated for a moment, then drew his sword and said, "As a King, it's my responsibility to protect this land."

"What about your soldiers?" Evan asked again.

"They are my people too. I allowed them to leave while directed others for evacuation," he replied.

"Hmmm...." Evan looked at the man eagerly.

"I've accepted the quest. You'll pay me once that dragon is dead, right?" Evan quipped.

"What?" interrupted the King.

Without hesitation, Evan immediately shot a regular fireball to lure the dragon towards him. "Where's the open space in this city?" Evan asked.

"Uh – yes, straight ahead is the town square," the King answered.

"I'm coming along!" Alicia shouted.

"Your call, if you die, it's your own fault," Evan replied.

Evan ran directly, luring the dragon with him to the center of the city, followed by Alicia.

Once they arrived at the town square, the dragon landed and unleashed an incredibly powerful roar, shattering the nearby house windows.

Evan slowly opened his left eye, and a sword appeared in his hand. It was the same sword he once used to split darkness, but now it looked sleeker. The pressure emitted by Evan caused the surrounding air to blow chaotically.

"Come on, ugly three-headed dragon," he said defiantly."
