Your One and Only

Her dream was to become a famous dancer. However, fate had other plans for her. Pearl Sanchez owed a favour to an old friend from the academy. With no restrictions, she was summoned to another kingdom beyond the mountains. There, she was supposed to manage all possessions from his older brother, the fallen hero, Berthold Zoltan. But how would she fulfill her promise when the man in question would kill whoever knocked on his door? He had become a war hero. However, one single mistake was enough for him to lose everything. Berthold Zoltan lost his sight in his last battle, forever trapped in a world full of darkness. No matter what riches he owned or how many lands belonged to his name, nothing mattered if he couldn't see them. That was when his brother decided to revive the once powerful hero and called for the help of an old friend, secretary Pearl Sanchez. But how would any of their efforts help him? *SNEAK PEEK* "Your Majesty, you mustn't punish the Marquis," Pearl humbly touched her head on the floor. "He is still a war hero, who recently recovered his dignity and honour. People won't sit still if you were to raise your hand against him." "How dare you tell your King what to do?" the man hit his palm against the throne as his raged voice echoed in the empty hall. "Berthold Zoltan betrayed his people and conspired against his own nation! He must pay it with his life." "I beg you, your Majesty," she tightly closed her trembling hands. "The Marquis committed no such crime. He simply wishes to aid you from the shadows, nothing more. He isn't a threat." Silence followed along with an overwhelming pressure. They were both alone in the throne room, only accompanied by the sounds of birds and the wind against the trees. It was the perfect place for an 'accident'. "Indeed," the King finally spoke, suddenly calmer like a breeze. Pearl, who still had her forehead on the floor, joined her eyebrows at the abrumpt change. Still, she didn't dare move a muscle. However, her instincts yelled once she heard the sound of a step. No, several ones. Then, the unsheathing of a blade. She gasped, raising her head only to find the sharp weapon against her throat. "This only happened after you appeared," the King looked at her from above, narrowing his eyes with a peaceful expression. "Did you think you could hide your origins from me, secretary?" She didn't even have time to explain herself. His Majesty raised his sword, aiming straight at her neck even when she screamed in plight nor when she raised her arms in self-defense. Yet, there was no pain. There was no pain, but the burst of the doors behind her. "What--" the sovereign stepped back, dropping his sword on the floor as he widened his eyes in shock. "What is the meaning of this? How did you enter this place? Marquis!" Pearl didn't even think. As soon as she heard his identity, she turned her head back, tears falling from her eyes as she saw the figure of a tall and proud man entering the chamber. A piece of fabric covered his eyes, but the stains of blood over his clothing showed his lack of vision couldn't stop him. "Berthold," Pearl sighed and immediately stood up, filled with a new strength with his presence. The man stopped right by her side, tranquil as the air outside, yet unmovable like a mountain. Then, he opened his mouth and a chilling sensation invaded the room. "You dared touching my beloved," he removed the fabric from his eyes, revealing a piercing gaze that paralised the one supposed to be his superior as if he could see through him. "And now you must pay with your life."
