CHAPTER 14 – Yato's daily life

On an afternoon with an orange dusk sky, Yato walked home leisurely, after buying a Strawberry shortcake from Iori bakery. Because it's time to go home from work. Many people walked to their respective homes.

After a few minutes of walking, Yato finally arrived at the gate of his house. Yato didn't see his father's car in the garage. That means his father is back in his office. Although Yato was sure that his mother would still be at home taking care of Karen.

After passing through the gate of the house, Yato opened the door of the house and entered his house.

"I am home."

After closing the door, Yato then took off his shoes and arranged his shoes in the shoe rack. When Yato straightened his shoes, Karen who heard Yato's return came out of the living room.

"Welcome…"

"Hmm, are you feeling better? You don't have to wait for me, you know. You should rest again Karen."

Yato was surprised to see Karen who appeared to greet him and told her to go back to rest. After all, Karen had been through a bad day this afternoon. Even though there are no physical injuries, that doesn't mean there won't be mental injuries or trauma. And Yato didn't want that to happen.

"I-I'm fine, the doctor also confirmed it earlier. And I'm not waiting for you. It was just a coincidence…" Karen said in a soft voice.

'Looks like she doesn't call me Onii-chan again. Although, Karen doesn't speak coldly anymore.' Yato thought after hearing Karen's answer.

"Why are you taking so long? Where have you been?" Karen asked in a very small voice.

'Has Karen gotten softer? or just my imagination.'

Hearing Karen's question, Yato thought that Karen had become more tender with him today. Maybe because of something bad that happened this afternoon or maybe because of something else. However, Karen spoke in a softer tone to Yato today.

"I took a slight detour to buy this." Yato said while holding up a package containing five boxes "A gift for you." and gave it to Karen.

"What is this?" asked Karen curiously.

"Strawberry Shortcake." Yato said while walking towards the stairs to the second floor.

"Is it true?!"

Karen who followed behind Yato was surprised and happy with the gift that Yato brought for her. Karen immediately ran to hug Yato from behind.

"Huh?!" Yato was taken aback by his little sister's sudden hug.

"Thank you, Onii-chan." Karen said as she hugged Yato.

After that, Karen immediately rushed to the kitchen without hearing Yato's answer. Karen walked into the kitchen and saw her mother cooking dinner.

"Hoho, what's wrong Karen?" Her mother asked when she saw Karen who came in with a small smile, looking happy.

"N-Nothing. This is Onii-chan carrying it." Karen who became embarrassed averted her eyes and handed the shortcake to her mother.

"Oh, what is this?" Her curious mother took the package and checked its contents. "hoh, shortcake and this is your favorite strawberry, so you're happy because of the present from your Onii-chan, Fu fu." Her mother continued while teasing Karen.

"Mom!" Karen becomes embarrassed at being teased by her mother. Seeing Karen's cute reaction her mother just laughed softly with a smile and started saying things like "youth". Unfortunately, Yato wasn't downstairs to see Karen's cute reaction.

"Alright, shortcake will be dessert tonight." Said Mrs. Kamiya while cooking dinner in the kitchen.

After all, Mrs. Kamiya is a professional cooking researcher. That means the cooking is professional and delicious, however, it's also very strict when it comes to diet. That's why all the food in this house is arranged by Mrs. Karen.

"Could you help mom prepare dinner Karen?"

"Un."

In the evening before dinner, Kamiya's father came home. The entire Kamiya family had dinner together in harmony and with Strawberry shortcake as dessert.

After dinner, Yato walked back to his room and relaxed while reading a light novel on his bed. And beside Yato's bed was a Japanese Tatami Floor Sofa, which Karen was sitting on who was reading a book too.

When Yato returned to his room, Karen suddenly came into Yato's room and asked if it was okay to read in his room. Yato who didn't mind that had no reason to refuse.

Yato's room is not too spacious and can be called minimalist with a room that only contains a bed, wardrobe, study table, floor sofa, and circle floor table.

Even though Kamiya's family is quite wealthy, his family has a principle of not overdoing it. So, the Kamiya family home was just a modern two-story house that was different from other rich families who chose to build mansions.

After finishing reading, Yato put away his things and got ready for bed.

"It's late, let's go to bed, Karen." Yato said as he stood up and planned to brush his teeth.

"Un." Karen who heard it nodded and followed behind Yato.

After the two of them finished brushing their teeth, they walked back to their respective rooms. Karen's room was right next to Yato's.

After Yato entered his room, he immediately turned off the light and lay down on his bed. However, before Yato could even fall asleep. The Yato door opened slowly. Yato with his skills realized that it was Karen who opened the door to his room.

"O-Onii-chan." Karen who entered Yato's room while hugging her pillow called out to Yato nervously.

"Hmm, what's wrong Karen?" Yato who saw it immediately sat down and asked Karen.

"Can I sleep here?" Karen answered in a very small voice. Karen's voice was so small she couldn't be heard except by herself. But Yato is different, with his physical and skills, Yato can hear what Karen is saying clearly.

When Yato heard Karen's answer, Yato was slightly surprised. However, after thinking about Karen's circumstances, Yato didn't really matter. 'Maybe she's still scared by today's event.' That was what Yato thought.

"No problem, come here." Yato answered softly.

Yato had no reason to refuse and even Yato was quite happy with Karen's attitude today. Although the sharp-mouthed Tsundere Karen is quite cute, this soft and adorable Karen is even cuter.

After Karen heard Yato's positive answer, Karen was relieved and moved towards Yato's bed from the side. Karen then got into the blanket and slept beside Yato hugging her pillow.

'Cute.' Yato who saw it just smiled and thought inwardly.

"Are you still afraid Karen?"

"Um."

"It's okay, don't worry. As long as I'm alive, no one will be able to hurt you again." Yato said softly.

"Un." Karen nodded and little smiled.

Yato, who couldn't stand Karen's cuteness anymore, reached out and stroked Karen's head gently. Karen's body shook when she felt Yato's hand on her head, but Karen didn't refuse and just closed her eyes.

"Thank you… Onii…chan." mumbled Karen in a small voice.

Maybe because of fatigue or maybe because of comfort, Karen fell asleep quickly.

"Mm, good night Karen." Yato said while stroking her smooth hair.

Although this was a pleasant situation for Yato, it was also a difficult situation for Yato. Yato is in trouble now.

Yato who saw Karen sleeping in front of him became troubled. Her delicate face, her soft breath, her cute little lips. Maybe because of being a teenager again, Yato's hormones became unstable. But, Yato didn't want to take action that would make him regret it.

Even though Yato knew that Karen liked him, there was no way Yato would attack her while she was sleeping. Also, Karen is 14 years old.

As a result, Yato had difficulty holding back and made him unable to sleep. He even forgot his skills.

Yato was having breakfast with a meal, salad, and coffee as usual. He was sitting at the dining table with his family. Last night Yato didn't sleep at all, although it wasn't a problem with the Demi-God's body and his various skills.

"I will go." Yato said.

After finishing his breakfast, Yato took his school bag and went to put on his shoes.

"Be careful Yato!" His mother shouted from the kitchen while she was cleaning the plates. While his father was still drinking coffee while reading the newspaper at the dining table.

When Yato finished putting on his shoes, he opened the door of the house to go to his school.

But before Yato went outside the door, he heard a voice from behind his back. It was Karen's voice who seemed to be ushering herself away. Seeing his sister standing in the hallway and bidding him farewell.

Yato was taken aback for a moment and smiled gently, answering-

"Mm, I'm leaving, Karen."

POV Yato

I started walking to my school alone. Unfortunately, I'm just walking alone today. I kept walking while thinking about Karen's change in attitude towards me.

Although Karen always said cold and had a sharp tongue. I know deep down Karen is a good girl. She doesn't even like hurting other people. Maybe because she was in her early teens or because she was too shy around me. Karen always spoke cruelly to me.

But after yesterday's incident, Karen has become softer? Or maybe be more open and more honest with her feelings.

Honestly, I like the way she is now. I hope she won't go back to being a cold girl with a sharp tongue when facing me. Even if she comes back, I will still love her.

I've made Rouga look after Karen at home. Previously I felt that the defensive magic I cast was enough to protect her. But I was wrong.

While Kamaishi who looked surprised? greeted me with a stutter. What surprised her. Although I'm getting used to the behavior of these two girls. Sometimes, I can't understand them at the same time.

After that the class went on, as usual, the class teacher who came in when the bell rang. Komi and Kamaishi were focused on the lesson the teacher gave in front of the class. I slept at the classroom table until lunch.

It's just another normal day.

Even though at lunch Kamaishi started saying things I had a hard time understanding. She started saying things like "I don't want to lose to a man."

After having lunch on the school roof and enjoying the adorable expression of the two cute girls. We returned to class and continued the afternoon class. As usual, I'm just going to sleep. I'm sleep-deprived today because of last night. I just remembered it in the morning, I can use my skills to make it easier for me to fall asleep. I'm a fool for forgetting it.

Although I don't regret it because I can see Karen's cute face. Even in the middle of the night Karen throws her pillow away and hugs my hand. Although it made it hard for me to contain myself, but it was a pleasant experience.

After finishing the afternoon class, it was time to go home. I woke up when there was no one else in the class, except for the two girls shaking me. Seems to be trying to wake me up.

Then I just kept my belongings and heard the complaints from the two girls as usual. After I finished, I lifted my bag and walked out of the school accompanied by two beautiful girls. First I escorted Komi to the front of her house and then took Kamaishi. Even though I ended up taking a detour, it didn't really matter.

I want to use a car, but I'm not 18 yet. Even though there is one unused car in the house that actually belongs to my mother. Because my mom works with my dad so they go to work in my dad's car.

Passing Iori bakery, I continued walking while reading the group chat from my smartphone. After walking for a while in the twilight. I arrived in front of my house and I saw that my father's car was not in the garage. That means my parents aren't home yet.

I opened the door to the house and saw Karen holding a silver-grey little dog in the hall waiting for me. Somehow this has become a habit for her. Because Karen's school is closed for a week, so Karen is at home alone. Well, not alone either, because there was Rouga with her.

Then I started walking to my room to put down my school bag. After that, I went to the bathroom and started cleaning myself.

After I finished showering, I relaxed in front of the television and watched random news. Meanwhile, Karen is currently preparing dinner.

Because my mom and dad always come home late at night because of their work. Dinner is always made by Karen, except when my mother is home at night. But it's rare.

Usually, dinner is always made by Karen. Because my mother is a professional expert in the field of food and graduated from a certain cooking school in Japan. Surely my mother had taught Karen to cook since childhood. Well, even though I was trained by my mother, but I find it troublesome.

In my previous life, I used to cook my own food. But, here in this world, I don't have to do that anymore. Because someone will do it for me. Like that, the three of us, me, Karen, and Rouga had dinner together at the dining table. By the way, Rouga even got a seat at the dining table, because my parents thought Rouga was very smart.

After dinner, I just relax while reading a novel in my room with Karen and Rouga. When it's ten o'clock at night, Karen and I get ready for bed. This is the best time to sleep so that it doesn't hinder growth as a teenager, especially Karen.

Tonight, Karen decided to sleep in my room again. It was just that she didn't hug her pillow this time, but instead, she hugged Rouga. Of course, I have no reason to refuse.

So the three of us slept together tonight and this time I didn't forget my skill which allowed me to sleep easily.

That's my daily life. Kamiya Yato's daily life.

The night passed quietly.

The next morning I wake up with Karen who uses my right hand as a pillow as she hugs Rouga. My hands are cramping, but I'm not complaining.

Like that, I started the day again.
