To the library

Mariya's pov

I watched the clouds roll by the library window as I waited. I was sitting about 15 feet away from the window at a big rectanglur table. The sun shined through the window just enough to cover half the table. I turned my head away because the reflection on the wood was starting to hurt my eyes.

Rebecca was bouncing her knee beside me as she read her book. Becca had insisted on coming with me to the library. Something about helping me make new friends. Which was ridiculous I could do that fine on my own.

I narrowed my eyes at her. She was totally trying to be match maker for me. "I bet she is scheming about it right now." I thought.

I don't even see how Joey and I could end up together. I am literally just helping him with notes it's nothing romantic. I thought about it for a moment. Well it may not be romantic but lonely people tend to fall fast for anyone who give them attention. I had longtime friend I started dating because of it. He ended up being the only guy I've ever dated.

The thought of Joey liking me rang in my head and I just sighed. I was afraid of the thought. Joey and that old friend were very similar. I try to avoid being to openly nice to guys. I'm not mean or anything if someone needs something I'll do my best to help but I'm not overly friendly. I don't want to come off like I'm being nice because I like them. It's kind of a stupid thing to worry about but I don't want to deal with it if I don't have to.

A noise distracted me from my thoughts I looked up to see Joey walking with some guy I didn't recognize. He was about 6'3 dirty blonde with blue eyes. The guy had a strong build and wore a dark green letterman jacket over a white shirt and jeans. Joey saw me and started making his way over.

"Hey Mariya I brought my Roommate Collin with me if that's okay. He came to just chill and get out of the dorm. Do you mind if he sits with us?" Joey asked. Collin gave me a small wave and a big smile.

"yeah that's fine I don't mind. Oh and uh this is my sister Rebecca but I guess you've seen her with me before." I said as the boys sat down.

"Ah nice to meet you I'm Joey." he said nodding to Becca. She smiled back before mouthing to me. "So cute!"

I rolled my eyes. "okay let's get started what notes do you have left?"

Ten minutes prior

Joey's pov

My phone buzzed in my pocket on the way to the library. I pulled it out to see a message from Collin.

"hey can I plz come with you.🥺" -C

"why" -J

"2 hang out " -C

"k fine just don't do anything stupid. 😒" -J

"Okay!" I heard behind me. Collin was about 10 feet away from me. "What how did you get here so quickly?

"Oh I left before I texted but I thought it would be nicer to ask." Collin smiled. "Now!" Collin put his hands on his hips. "TO THE LIBRARY I SHALL ACCOMPANY YOU AND BE THE VERY BEST WING MAN!!" he yelled like he was commanding an army.

"Thanks." I said sarcastically and started walking towards the library. Collin jogged to catch up. "SoOOoooo tell me about her."

"What about her?" I asked raising an eyebrow.

"Anything about her like just her name if you don't want to share. You didn't really say much when you texted me. All you said was "hey I met a girl I'll be in the library with her after class." he hummed.

"Oh" I said. I forgot I didn't tell him much.

"uh well she is a short brunette and I think she is mixed. She also has a twin sister but they have very different styles." I shrugged

"Oh She is a twin how can you tell the difference?" Collin asked.

"I think Mariya wears blue and the other wears like red or something. I'm pretty sure they also have different personalities too but I only talked with Mariya a minute or so." I responded honestly.

Collin nodded "Wouldn't it be funny if you got with one twin and I got with the other." he joked.

"This isn't a fairy tale you can't magically make her twin like you." I laughed

"I know but could you imagine like by some chance it did happen it would be perfect. I mean think about all the double dates!" Collin smiled probably day dreaming about it.

"I'm also supposed to help you find a girlfriend remember I'm your wing man. Do you even like this Maya girl?" Collin asked.

"Mariya" I corrected.

"and I generally like her she is pretty and is nice as far as I can tell but I'm not in love or anything." I said.

Which was the truth if you meant like physically like her than yes she is attractive. You could say I have a crush if you meant just because of looks. She acts cute too but I'm not fully sold on her. I don't really know her yet so I can't really say I like her yet. Even if I kinda already do. She seems polite but you can't base love or a relationship off of general kindness. The world doesn't work like that.

Like imagine "hmm la la la having a normal day. Oo0H NOoo0Oo My HoME wOrK! My day has been ruined what ever shall I do!?"

-"ah I'm sorry about that I didn't see you there I'll just give you my copy."

-"Ooh My gOo0Osh that was the MOST romantic and AmAZinGLY kind thing anybody has EVER done for me! We should get married and have 50 kids."

-"Oh HeCk YeAh DUde SuRE THinG!! I've always dreamed of this CoOo0NnECtIoN I will ChEriSH OuR LOvE FoREveR!"

Yeah no definitely not how that works.

"How did you get this her to hang out with you anyways?" Collin asked.

"She spilled her milkshake on most of my notes and offered to help rewrite them after class." I said showing him the brown stain on my binder.

"Wait you didn't tell me you sat beside a girl in class you said you were by yourself." Collin said looking confused.

"That's because she doesn't sit next to me. She sits like half way across the room in business." I said

"How in the world did she mess up your notes then?" he asked. We were almost at the library now.

"We ran into each other in the hall and we both dropped our stuff." I sighed

"So that's the trick to sweeping a girl off her feet." he said. "You have to knock her over first."

"Well no brick head she ran into me. She was just running around the corner." I said opening the library doors.

"Ooooooooooh that makes more sense. Hey do you think Mariya's sister will be with her?" Collin asked.

"Maybe I don't know." I shrugged. "Why do you ask?" I said walking down the main aisle. Collin sounded like he already had a crush on her and they hadn't even met yet.

"I wanted someone I could talk with sense you and Mariya will be busy." he mumbled.

"Well if she is not there you can check out that romance novel you wanted to read. What was it called uh trapping the Moon or something." I said searching the study area.

I saw Mariya and her sister at a table near the far back and started walking over.

"Hey Mariya I brought my Roommate Collin with me if that's okay. He came to just chill and get out of the dorm. Do you mind if he sits with us?" I asked. Collin smiled and gave her a small wave.

"yeah that's fine I don't mind. Oh and uh this is my sister Rebecca but I guess you've seen her with me before." she said as I sat the next to her. Collin took a seat across the table infront of Rebecca.

"Ah nice to meet you I'm Joey." I said making note to remember her name. Rebecca just smiled back.

"okay let's get started what notes do you have left?"
