Chapter Five

We strolled along the edge of the Bear Lake at the edge of the city. It was nice and quiet, yet there was something about her that made it seem like time was stopping just for us. We could walk forever under the clear night sky.

I walked her to her apartment two years later. It was our second anniversary. I got down on one knee and pulled out the $1,705 ring.

"Amber, for several years before we started dating I've been asking the same question, but ever since I met you I've known the answer to that question. That question has always been, is love real? Please answer this new question I have, will you marry me?" Her eyes were filled with tears. She smiled.

"Jasper, I waited five years to date you. You were the first man that I held hands with, kissed, and loved. I waited two years for you to ask me to be your wife." She was crying hard now. "How could I say no?"

We got married two months later and have been married for 25 years. She still answers the question that I've had in my heart for as long as I can remember. Now I know, that love is real.
