Chapter Nine

Lu's POV

______

I was in a cage.

What the heck?

Dogs and cats were all in different sized cages around me based on their size.

What type of place is this?

Many humans roamed around looking in each cage and occasionally picking up some of the dogs.

Sometimes they would pick them up and they would never come back with them.

Days went by. I think about four days.

They kept feeding me disgusting dog food, but since I didn't want to die I just sucked it up and ate it.

However, everything seemed to change when a man walked in one night before the place seemed to close.

He had dark brown hair that looked like he just got out of bed, deep brown eyes, a little scruff on his face and a warm smile.

He seemed drawn to me and as I was to him.

I stood up in my cage when I saw him approach. His smell was sweet and luring. He was definitely a human but for some reason there was something more.

He stood right in front of my cage and looked in.

When our eyes met, my heart skipped a beat. Who was this man to make me feel like this? It felt different from Ale yet somewhat more intense.

I probably just mistakened everything from my position in this small cage and from all the stress.

He couldn't possibly be my mate, since Ale was right?

The man got one of the workers,  that seemed to be left in this God forsaken place, to open the cage.

The man picked me up and I instantly felt calm.

"You are beautiful." he whispered looking into my eyes.

I couldn't help but wag my tail.

What the heck is wrong with me?

As we got to the front desk, the man had to fill out a lot of paper and seemed to name me Poa.

Seriously Poa? That's the best name he could come up with? But for some reason it sounds so familiar.

After all the paperwork was done and money was exchanged, the strange man put me in the front seat of an SUV and drove for about two hours.

I'm pretty sure I fell asleep because when I came to, I was in a beautiful mansion.

A huge Chandelier hung above us, when we walked in, and there was a huge stair case straight ahead of us.

As I followed the man into what seemed to be the living room and then into the kitchen, he began to talk about his life in how he had a wife and a kid, but they died in an accident long ago when they went hiking.

"You see...I've been lonely, so I decided to get you." he said glancing.down at me as he seemed to get food ready, "I somehow felt connected to you, so there was no backing out."

I just stared at him. There was nothing I could say anyway.

After he finished making dinner, he sat down at the table and laid my food on a plate on the floor.

A huge steak laid on my plate slightly bleeding. My mouth couldn't help but water.

While eating dinner, I found the man's name was Jack and he became rich because he was a doctor.

I closely examined under my eye lashes, while I ate and found he was a beautiful man.

Not as beautiful as us werewolves or as vampires, no but he was beautiful in a messy type of way.

After I finished, I grabbed my plate in my mouth and walked to the kitchen to put in the sink.

I was use to no one helping me, so I jumped up on the counter and put my plate in the sink, forgetting I was suppose to be a dog.

"Very impressive." Jack said putting his plate in the sink and washing both of them.

He shooed me of the counter and had me follow him to the bedroom.

When I walked in, I found the room to be breathtaking. The room was a royal blue with a rug that had all types of swirls in it. In the middle of the room, there was a king sized bed with blue and white covers and pillows on it. Across from the bed sat a 50" flat screen TV on top of a very nice looking dresser. On the left side of the dresser, an open door stood and showed a private bathroom on the inside. On the right side in the corner there was another dresser that had a gorgeous looking mirror.

"That was my wife's." Jack said seeing me staring at it, "I never had the courage to take it out."

I lowered my head and walked toward the bed.

Do dogs sleep on it?

I waited for him to initiated something, so when he patted the bed I immediately jumped up.

"You are very well trained." Jack said staring at me, "Whoever had you must have been a good master."

I whimpered a little bit. Ha that's laughable.

Jack grabbed my body and snuggled into me. "You are really beautiful." he said glancing into my eyes making my heart skip a beat, "Your eyes make it seem like you know everything I am saying."

I smiled inside my head. If only he knew.

After a little more chatting and me just listening, Jack slowly fell asleep.

"Don't ever leave me." he whispered before finally dosing off.

I snuggled deeper into him and found myself finally falling asleep.

For once in my whole life, I felt completely calm and safe.

At least I thought I did.
