Chapter 37 Video Exposé

The deposit was paid to Grand Entertainment after all and had nothing to do with Yan Wen.

And that was the end of the groundbreaking press conference. The most exciting thing was that Yan Wen's speech was uploaded in its entirety online.

Her photogenic face and composure won the approval of the masses.

In the car, Xia clung on to Yan Wen, hot tears rolling down her face. "The day has finally come, Yan Wen, it's been a hard road!"

Only she knew how hard it had been for Yan Wen, through all the bullying and side glances. Scum like Bai Zhexuan would get his dues sooner or later.

Xia had already started crying when Yan Wen announced her comeback. She had always believed that Yan Wen would be able to rise back to the top.

"You must do even better, they're going to be so angry. I bet Jiang Lingyun is getting Bai Zhexuan to threaten you with the contract."

Chen Yu nodded in agreement. "Based on Jiang Lingyun's temper, this is definitely a possibility."

"But, we haven't even shown our full hand yet."

Yan Wen smiled and said, "Let's go, I'm hungry. Let's find a nice place and have a good meal."

But before that, she did not forget to send a message to her Mr. Jiang. "Problem solved."

"Has Bai Zhexuan returned to the office?" Chen Yu nodded."The directors have followed him. They want President Bai to pay them and they're saying that this incident has affected their company's reputation. If Grand Entertainment doesn't issue a public apology, they're going to sue."

Yan Wen half closed her eyes in thought. They would not actually sue Grand Entertainment, and this incident was not actually that harmful to Bai Zhexuan. What would he do next?

The online fury turned to Grand Entertainment.

"What trashy company forces their artistes to do such activities?"

"Yan Wen, hang in there, we'll support you forever!"

"I can't wait for Yan Wen to leave Grand Entertainment. Her future is being destroyed by this lousy company!"

Bai Zhexuan took a deep breath and pointed towards the door. "Go, get out of here immediately. Tell your Director Zhang that I'm not going to pay a cent. l'm going to report that your company makes counterfeit goods and is deceíving the public!"

He could only latch on to that point for the interest of the company. Otherwise, if everyone found out that they had done this to Yan Wen on purpose, the reputation they had managed to get back would be gone as well.

The company representative left angrily, brushing past Jiang Lingyun as she hurried in.

Jiang Lingyun was very good at reading the room. Sensing Bai Zhexuan's displeasure, she said nothing, but quietly locked the office door and sat down with two glasses of water.

"Why are you here?" Bai Zhexuan spared her a glance and then sat next to her on the sofa. "Didn't I tell you to rest at home?"

The last thing he wanted was for Jiang Lingyun to give him more problems.

"I was worried about you... Yan Wen pulling out last minute, saying those awful things about the company, not caring about your past feelings. Aren't you disappointed?"

She smiled softly and hugged Bai Zhexuan.

"Ugh, I never thought Yan Wen could be so ruthless. She went against my word completely. She would never do this before. Have I been too harsh with her?" Bai Zhexuan frowned hard, thinking back on Yan Wen's words.

"It's not your fault. Yan Wen must already have been thinking about making a comeback, so she used this opportunity. You know how good her acting is, she purposely acted like a victim to garner everyone's support. Think about it. Your feelings have fizzled out over the years, how could the break up be completely your fault? It's not like you were already married, you have nothing to be ashamed of!"

Bai Zhexuan nodded.

Jiang Lingyun took to opportunity to continue. "Now that everyone is focused on Yan Wen, this is the best opportunity for us. The company can announce that Yan Wen did all this in order to make a comeback. She took on the advertisement on false pretenses and then declined it. This constitutes a breach of contract and the company will be following up on the legal options!"

"Should it really come to that?"

It even said that Yan Wen had been stirring up trouble within the company in the past few years, and was not on good terms with many artistes in the company. At Bai Zhexuan's behest, artistes seeking a quick road to celebrity made up bald-faced lies. All of them accused Yan Wen of using her status as an acclaimed actress to bully them. There were even audio recordings.

"I didn't know anything when I first entered the Company. She made me iron her clothes every single day and everything was luxury brands. I don't know who gave them to her. She didn't have any income when she retired, I think she has a sugar daddy."

"I had several chances to make my debut, but she discouraged me every time. She's just jealous of the chances that we young ones have..."
