CHAPTER 67

Y/N'S POV

Wednesday left the cafeteria towards our class while I stayed a while longer watching the clap on the table. It really matched the mark with my claws, but I was worried that I wouldn't remember having done it. At what point did it happen? I was trying to remember but everything ended at the moment when Enid didn't answer my call and I was going to sleep. When did I leave the house? It didn't make sense.

- Sadie: There you are! - she said animatedly approaching where I was - Ufff... Someone wasn't very happy last night - she commented as she watched the clap.

-Y/N: The police say it could have been a wild animal - I looked at her - Maybe the poor animal was just trying to find the exit and return to the forest.

-Sadie: An animal wouldn't have forced its way in by smashing the front door - she stared at me for a few moments - I have a feeling there's something much more interesting behind.

-Y/N: More interesting? Like what? - I crossed my arms expectantly.

-Sadie: I don't know - she reached over to whisper in my ear - You tell me, Y/N.

-Y/N: I support the police theory - I said seriously - We should go to class, it doesn't suit me to be late.

- Sadie: Sure - she smiled.

Sink knew something, I had no proof but also no doubts. And if she had found out, it was only a matter of time before the police and other authorities did. While I was walking through the corridors dodging debris because of my supposed destruction, I dedicated myself looking for Brooke with my eyes. If Sadie had found out about my true identity it was because someone had revealed it to her, and it couldn't be anyone but Duncan.

I hid all morning trying not to make visible the worry and doubts that dwelt in me, I didn't want to look suspicious. But when classes were over and we met on the way home, I took the opportunity to approach Brooke and "kindly" invite her to come with Wedns and I to the house. We took her to our room and there we tied her hands and feet, we needed answers and she had a lot to tell.

- Brooke: Y/N, please... I swear I haven't said anything - he looked at me fearfully - I've kept our promise, I try not to get involved in your affairs.

-Y/N: What do you think, Wedns? Do you think she's telling the truth? - I pulled out my claws.

-Wednesday: Your friend the redhead has been acting very strange around Y/N, she has hinted that she knows our secret - she said seriously - So if I were you, I would admit the guilt so that this wouldn't be too slow and painful.

- Brooke: Sadie? - she asked - I barely see her! She goes to your class, the only times I see her is when we all get together. And you know that I have never brought up the topic of the supernatural - she looked at me - Y/N, I really appreciate what you did to save my father and I still treasure the feelings I had for you, I would never want to expose you to danger.

- Wednesday: She's lying - she held up a knife - She already exposed you to danger by taking you to your mother.

-Y/N: Wait, Wedns - I stopped her - She's telling the truth.

- Wednesday: How can you tell?

-Y/N: Call it kitsune instinct or whatever, but I know she's not lying - I sighed - But that doesn't change that Sadie knows the truth.

- Wednesday: And what do we do then? Do you want us to kidnap Sink too?

-Y/N: It would make us look too suspicious and the police are too active in our area - I commented - How could we approach her and have her alone?

-Brooke: There will be a party, one of the popular guys at school turns eighteen soon - she commented - Sadie loves that kind of events, so does Maddie - she looked at us - You can try by attending the party.

- Wednesday: - she looked at me seriously - Are we really going to a teenage party?

-Y/N: We'll go if we want to find out what the hell happened last night and why those paws match mine - I started to untie Brooke - Why are you helping us?

- Brooke: I don't think it makes sense for you to ask me that question - she said staring at me.

-Y/N: She's afraid of us - I said victoriously looking at Wednesday.

-Wednesday: You sure are an asshole, it's obvious she still has feelings for you - she rolled his eyes - You can leave Duncan, but know that we will be watching you. One wrong step and it will be your end.

- Brooke: Relax, it wouldn't even cross my mind to snitch on an Addams - she took one last look at me - I value my life too much to die in the hands of any of you - she said before leaving.

It was Monday, we just had to wait until Saturday night to question Sadie seriously in search of answers. Until then, we'd have to keep hiding and try to figure out why I snuck into high school and wrecked it. Although first of all, I needed to call Enid and confirm that her transformation had gone well yesterday. I picked up the computer and initiated a zoom call. I was expecting a response but just like the night before, she didn't answer.

-Y/N: Why isn't she answering my calls? - I was staring at the screen confused - Does the Wifi work well?

-Wednesday: Perfectly - she sat down at her desk - Have you tried contacting her by another social network?

-Y/N: Oh sure, I should have done it sooner.

During my stay in Nevermore I installed all kinds of social networks, and more or less I learned to use them all with the help of the wolf. However, it's not that I used them much, I had never needed them during my time in Japan and it's not that I had many friends either. When I got on Instagram the first thing I saw was a picture of Enid with a group of people I didn't know, she looked quite happy so I sighed with relief to see that she was doing good.

-Y/N: I think she's doing good - I commented out loud - She looks happy in the photos.

- Wednesday: And? Have you called her yet?

- Y/N: No... Should I do it? Maybe she's busy with all these friends - I said while still looking at the photos - I wouldn't want to bother her either.

-Wednesday: You're her girlfriend, you've both become each other's torture - she shrugged - It's normal for you to annoy her, call her.

-Y/N: You're right, I should talk to her - I started a video call on Instagram.

Luckily this time there was a response, although it was not what I expected. On the other side of the screen you could see a lot of people and a lot of background noise, the camera wasn't even focused properly. I waited for a few moments until Enid's smiling face appeared, a relief that she was not angry with me for not contacting her the night before.

Y/N: Enid - I smiled - How are things going for San Francisco?

Enid: Y/N? - she looked at the screen confused - Who has answered her? - she asked the people around her and then looked at me seriously - What do you want?

Y/N: What do you mean, what do I want? - I frowned - Talking to you, obviously.

Enid: I don't want to - she said dryly - We seem to be very busy lately, don't we?

Y/N: Hey... If it's because of last night, I'm so sorry - I said terribly regretfully - It was totally my fault, I completely missed that it was a full moon.

Enid: Hush, hush - she made a panicked gesture with her face - Let's talk about that another time, there are too many people right now.

Y/N: - I nodded - I tried to call you later but there was no answer, I was worried about you... I thought something had happened to you.

Enid: Yes, that's what I think when you go more than three days without telling me anything - she pressed her lips - Where were you last week?

Y/N: Uhm... Have I been at home? - I sighed - I don't know, very strange things are happening lately. Could we talk alone sometime?

Enid: Ah I don't know... Will you remember to call me? - she asked ironically.

Y/N: Hey, I've already said I'm sorry - I said seriously - You can call me too, I don't have to do it myself all the time.

Enid: But you don't answer later! - she frowned - I feel like I'm bothering you or something, I hate that feeling. So when you're interested in talking things over seriously, give me a call - she said before hanging up.

I couldn't believe it, I understood that she was upset with me but I hoped that we could talk about it civilly and without getting upset. What was that attitude for? She wasn't like that, she usually had reasons. If she wanted to talk and explanations, she could have excused herself and retired to a private place to talk. Right? I put the computer away and threw myself on my bed upset.

-Wednesday: Oh sweet torture of the lover - she said before receiving a cushion on hrt head - It's your fault, should had paid more attention to her - she shrugged her shoulders.
