CHAPTER 58

Y/N'S POV

As usual, I couldn't enjoy a normal breakfast and had to grab the first thing I saw before running off in the direction of the Pentagon for the meeting. There I met with Enid and the rest, they all seemed to have very serious faces so I was worried about what the director was going to say. I kept quiet enjoying the apple I had picked, until Duncan picked up a microphone and started his speech.

-Ducan: Students and teachers, welcome to this extraordinary meeting - she cleared his throat - After the dance of the day yesterday I would have liked to give you good news and share the experience of having one more edition of the Raven. However, we have not met to comment on the good time we had. As you can see, the gym has been charred, and not only that, remains have also been found inside - she made a face of total disgust - The police have been investigating it all night and luckily there have been no fatalities of any of ours.

Everyone around me started whispering about what the director had just told them, while I was looking for Wednesday. When she was in my field of vision she gave me a nod to keep calm, I nodded by way of response. I looked away and started looking for the other person involved in the fire, Mr. Wilson. I couldn't see him anywhere. Where had he gotten himself into?

- Duncan: Silence, please - she caught everyone's attention - The fire was arson, but luckily they have already found the person responsible and he is currently being questioned at the sheriff's station - she sighed - I know I shouldn't give names, but you will notice the absence of our janitor Wilson just the same. According to him, he set fire to the gymnasium to rescue two of our students who were assaulted by a group of mercenaries.

Had Mr. Wilson testified to cover us up? I looked for Wednesday, but this time she was the one who walked in my direction and stood next to me. She motioned for us to continue listening to Duncan, as it seemed that she still had several things to comment on.

-Duncan: According to the sheriff, the mercenaries called themselves Hunters and are people who are dedicated to hunting supernatural beings like everyone here - she sighed - I would like to say that everything has been left in a fright and that we are no longer in danger, but unfortunately there are several hunters and staying in Nevermore is no longer a safe option - she remained silent before continuing - With that said, we have contacted each and every one of your families to return home until further notice. As the most responsible for all of you, I have to ensure your safety and until the police take care of ending the Hunters, classes will be suspended. Your parents will start arriving from tomorrow, so start collecting your things and I'm really sorry, no one wanted the school year to happen this way.

I swallowed hard after listening to the principal's speech and watching as all the students walked away to start packing. How were we going to leave Nevermore? Home? The police had nothing to do against the hunters, they needed our skills to deal with them. I started to panic when I realized that the suspension of classes meant I stopped seeing Enid. How could I go home and stay without seeing her? Had we gone crazy or what?

-Wednesday: It seems that Wilson has taken the blame by way of redemption - she commented - He's actually not a bad guy, although it leaves a bad taste in my mouth to have stuck with the role of "victims" - she looked at me - You look paler than usual, Y/N.

-Y/N: We can't leave - I said looking at her seriously - The sheriff won't be able to win against that riffraff, and you know it. We almost didn't tell it ourselves, imagine some simple humans.

-Wednesday: Being only two, it's not like we can do much either - she shrugged her shoulders - We should leave the case to the police until further notice, we can't act without thinking. Enid will kill us both if we risk our lives again.

-Y/N: That's another one! How am I going to go home knowing that Enid is going to San Francisco? !! - I frowned - I've gotten used to having her with me, I don't know if I'll be able to stand being away from her.

-Wednesday: Please don't be dramatic - she rolled her eyes - The hard way you can go to visit her and stay a few days with her.

-Y/N: Since when do foxes live with wolves?

-Wednesday: You've lived with scorpions so far and nothing has happened to you, I don't think you'll die or anything like that if suddenly one day you howl at the moon with Enid - she said sarcastically - Let's go back to our rooms.

-Y/N: Uhm, you go ahead... I'm going to Jericho to visit Wilson, it would be ugly to leave without saying goodbye. Don't you think?

- Wednesday: That man almost killed us with his stupid revenge. Why are you so weak-hearted? You've softened too much since you've been with the blonde - she sighed - But anyway, go if you want. You tell him that I thank him for covering up for us about the fire, it wouldn't have been nice to end the year in a juvenile correctional facility with you.

I left Nevermore and took the first bus in the direction of Jericho, I still didn't believe the fact that I had to leave the academy because of that stupid anti-supernatural organization. What harm did the excluded lost on the mountain do? Absolutely none! I was frustrated and helpless that I couldn't do anything to prevent our departure. I arrived at the sheriff's station and asked to see Wilson, at first I was denied access but finally they allowed me to see him when I told them that he had saved my life.

-Y/N: Hey, old curmudgeon - I greeted him friendly.

- Wilson: What are you doing here? Go away and study! - he made a gesture with his hand for me to move away.

-Y/N: You always have that annoying hangup of asking me to leave, you will end up alone if you always try to push away anyone who approaches you - I approached the bars - Luckily, I am too stubborn to be intimidated by you - I smiled - I know that you are still resentful for what happened to your daughter, and although what you did when you called the hunters was very serious, I wanted to thank you for your help during the dance. If it weren't for you, my cousin and I would be headed to a juvenile correctional facility.

- Wilson: - he turned to look at me - I don't need a puppy to thank me, I just did it because I thought it was convenient - He shook his head - I was accused of having killed innocent humans in the fire, although it is simply an excuse to cover up the mismanagement of the police with the anti-supernaturalists - he sighed - Someone had to pay the price for what happened last night, it seems fair that the same person who started it all should pay - he made another listless gesture with his hand - So don't think I did it for you or the viper with braids, I don't mind you in the least.

-Y/N: Mr. Wilson, don't overload your head by thinking that we hate you - I smiled slightly - When you love someone so much, love drives us to do the greatest crazy things without thinking about the consequences. It's something I've learned over the months I've spent in Nevermore, so I understand your thirst for revenge just as I understand the guilt you must be feeling now.

-Wilson: - he looked at me and gave me a slight smile for the first time - Maybe you weren't as stupid as I thought, you're getting to understand a little better about life, huh.

-Y/N: Well, I'm a kitsune - I said proudly - Wisdom characterizes us, so I need to tan myself based on mistakes from which to learn. You were a mistake that has helped me empathize, thanks for the lesson - I lowered my gaze to the floor - I hope you will still be here when I return.

- Wilson: Are you leaving? - he asked surprised.

-Y/N: The Hunters organization is still lurking, we just finished with a few of them - I took a breath and released it slowly in a sigh - So the director thinks that the academy is no longer a safe place and they will send us back home.

- Wilson: Oh - you could see the disappointment on his face - Meh, better... More peace of mind for the people without such a troublemaker as you - he tried to encourage me - If you remember the old Wilson from time to time and everything you've learned, that's enough. Just get out of here! Here we will work to recover a safe space for you - he said looking into my eyes.

-Y/N: - I smiled slightly - Thank you, I won't ever forget about you - I said before leaving back to the academy.
