Chapter Thirty Four.
JENNA'S POV
Iris helps me to lie down on the bed as the doctor puts on gloves and hangs the stethoscope around his neck. I look at Iris and she looks away almost immediately our eyes met. There is something Raul saw in her that he didn't see in me and I have to find out what. Then I recalled the way she saved me from Nikola's henchman. I involuntarily smiled but immediately she turned her head to face me I rubbed the smile off my face.
"Well, let's do a ultrasound, shall we?" the doctor asks and I nod.
He applies a gel around my tummy, then passes a certain machine around my tummy and I could see the foetus. Iris had her eyes stuck on the screen and a smile formed on her face. Maybe it was that smile. I have to admit, her smile was beautiful. Better than her evil smirk. I also looked at the screen and I felt my heart melt in joy. I had a life inside me, and it was beautiful.
"Has the foetus started developing major organs yet?" Iris asked the doctor.
"Not yet check in again next month and she will have developed a heart. Then you can listen to her heartbeat. As of now, not yet." He said and Iris nods.
"How do we ensure no complications during parturition?" she asks.
"Eat well, avoid stress both mentally and physically. Also you need regular check ups and exercise. Mrs, what I'm trying to say is take care of your wife." the doctor said and Iris nods with a smile.
"Why didn't you correct her?" I asked Iris.
"Let her believe that. It's less riskied than proclaiming to the world that you carry the baby of am man who has made more enemies than friends." She says giving away nothing with her tone. But her aura slightly changed. I knew that she was trying to rub away that feeling of guilt from her heart.
I follow her outside, and just before I get in the car, I noticed Iris lost in something. Or someone, she seemed worried. But when I looked I saw nothing. She walked in and I followed her. Just then Raul calls her and asks if we are safe. Before she could answer, an attack is launched on us and it's a gunfight.
"Take the wheel" she says, as she activates the weapons system, and takes a machine gun and starts launching an attack. I feel my heart race as the fact that we were facing death finally closed in on me. I started to realize that being Raul's wife came with such danger. Then I started to relive my decisions and realized IM NOT READY TO DIE.
Just then, Irris got shot, and slides inside the car.
"We're outnumbered." She say, blood flowing from her shoulder and her side.
Just then I notice a forest on the side of the road, and decided to drive down it, so that I can escape those people. I do it without informing Iris and we end up crashing into the Forest.
