5 Chapter Five

I flicker my eyes awake as I try to capture light. I was in a bright room with a white celling. Beeping sounds were everywhere and it smelled of antiseptics and chemicals.My heart monitor was recording normal readings. I was in a comfortable bed and Raul was sitted on the desk in my room. He didn't even turn to face me.

"Why did you do that?" he asks, in a tone that I couldn't tell for sure.

"Umm...I'm human?" I lie.

"Liar."

"You are my husband to be. Before anything can happen to you, it will have to happen to me first."

"Thank you for protecting my life as if it were your own "

"It soon will be right?"

And for the first time in all of history, he smiled. A sincere smile. I was shocked. Honestly I thought he had no heart.

He then came up to me , sat beside me and held my hand. His touch made me shiver, but in a good way. Like butterflies in my stomach. He then started caressing my palm gently, and soon after, he was lost in his own world. I could tell it was a childhood memory and it hurt him a lot. So I just let him have his time. a few minutes later, Mother Superior and Father Agustus walk in and Raul immediately breaks the connection we felt. He stood up and left.

"My Goodness! I am so sorry we let you go with these lunatics. We are here to take you home."

I know I was supposed to be happy, but I had mixed feelings instead. I wanted to go back to how things were, but then I wanted Raul.

"Thank you, but I'm okay." I reply.

" Is he making you say that?"

"No mother. I like him my heart is here, I need to make him aware that he is human."

"He is an animal Iris. You have been with him for just a day and they are hunting you down already. Listen to me, you are coming back with us. You will thank me later."

Before I could say anything, Father Agustus put a damp cloth on my nose and I immediately stopped breathing. A little trigger gets me really bad. I start hyperventilating and I pass out after they force the handkerchief into my mouth.

I wake up, tied at the back of the church van. Father Agustus is driving like crazy and Mother Superior is freaking out.

"Hurry up Agustus, if Accardi catches up to us we are dead." mother Superior says again and again. I try to gain control over my body and pull the emergency brakes, which causes us to run into a wall. By chance, a small knife rolls out of mother superiors pocket and I quickly use it to cut my ropes.

I crawl out of the car and start running back to the hospital. We were on a road in the middle of nowhere. Just then, I hear a gunshot and stand frozen. Sweet heavens! I turn around slowly and I am met with mother superior holding a gun, aimed at me.

"What is going on..." I ask

Mother Superior starts speaking to me in Spanish and I cannot understand a word she says all I keep saying is, "What is going on.."

Just then, I hear a gunshot from behind me.

I turn around to see Wallace and Raul, together with about fifteen men all with guns in their hands.

"Let the pretty girl go you bitches." Wallace says, in a sincere, scary tone.

"How come Raul will not speak " Mother Superior asks.

"Mary, let my wife go and I will not torture you till death. If there is even a scratch on her skin, then it will be long and painful, you'll wish for death." Raul almost whispers.

His cold aura fills the air again and I shiver. Mother Superior and Father Agustus drop their weapons immediately and I slowly walked towards Raul as Wallace and some of their men surround mother superior and father Agustus. I fall right into Raul's hands since I was weak.

"Are you okay Iris?" Raul asks, with concern laced in his voice.

"I feel tired and I think I'm going to die." I reply, sincerely.

"I can never let anything separate us, even death." He whispers to my ear. His voice is so comforting, I fall asleep in his arms.

I wake up to find myself on my bed and Elizabeth had put a wet cloth on my forehead. I try to sit up but I fail and sink back to my bed. Elizabeth rushed to me.

"Calm down mistress. If you stress yourself, then Raul will kill me."

I lay down on my bed and take a huge breath in.

"Elizabeth, what happened to Mother Superior and Father Agustus?"

"Well, Raul and Wallace took them captive. Honestly, it is better if they kill you than keep you hostage. Those two brothers are death personified."

"Have they ever done that for anyone else?"

"Well, master Raul and Wallace had wives, but then one day people raided their house and killed all the women, their mother included. After that, things became different. All of them are looking for more that just a lover. They are looking for a mother figure. For Wallace, he found a way of escape by whoring around, but for Raul, things were different. He let out his anger with death. Raul was not good at showcasing emotions even when his mom was alive. When she died, it seemed like Raul died with Katarina. Well, untill you showed up."

That piece of new information made me think a lot. That was why Raul almost never let his guard down. And he was right. He can never fall in love again. If it were me , I wouldn't. Because I would be scared to loose them all. In one fateful day. Even I know what it feels like. I sighed once again and Raul walked in as Elizabeth walks out.

"Are you okay?" he asked as he touched my cheek.

"I'm okay thank you. Where are they?"

"Don't worry. I'll make them pay."

"No need Raul. It's clear fate doesn't want us together..."

Before I could complete, he said in a cold, assertive and deadly tone.

"I don't give a shit about fate. It will never take you away from me. Nothing will."

"But I thought you said that you don't fall in love."

"I don't. But you are mine. Only mine."

With that, he put his finger on my lips and I feel shockwaves run through my body. My hair stood on end as I imagined the feel of his touch on my entire body. Oh God forgive me.

He notices and smiles again.

"Do you want to sleep alone?"

"No."

"Then make space for me."

I smile and move for him. He then decides that I should sin, because he removes his slacks. I couldn't help but stare at his strong legs and only I know where my mind went. Then he removes his shirt, exposing his muscles and abs and most of all, his beautiful tattoos. His silver earring glowed through the chandelier light. Once he got on the bed, I gathered enough courage and asked,

"Umm.....Raul ...."

"Iris ..."

"Can we cuddle tonight?"

He smiles and opens his arms. I slip in and purr at the comfort. I slowly drifted down to sleep. I never Want to leave this place. Ever.
