CHAPTER 10

I woke up before Amelia did and I watched the sunrise over the seemingly endless ocean of waves.

I tried to push open the door of the café before I realised that it was locked. And then I remembered I locked it the night before.

Behind me, next to Amelia, her phone started buzzing. Quickly, I rushed to stop the buzzing, it was her alarm. She must have forgotten to turn it off. While on her phone I checked the date. It was the weekend so I was more than happy to let her sleep in. The café is always open late on a Sunday.

"Look... I believe in spirits and things so, don't be afraid to talk to me." shakily she continued. "I. Um... Hope we can be... Good.. Acquaintances.?" she stumbled over her words.

I tapped the screen and pulled up the clock app infront of her. "oh... Thank you I was.. Wondering the time!" she gasped.

"And, thank you for looking out for me, I'm guessing you tripped up the thief yesterday." she smiled.

Oh how I wished I couldve replied. But even if I did, she wouldn't have heard me. I sent my thoughts back to the news article.

Before I put the phone down an image of a man in a hospital bed flashed up. It was a picture of me...
