chapter 3 : Cold-blooded killer

They talked with Cecil and Deborah insisted on watching over Nolan, Lucas tried to calm his mother and reassure her but Donald interrupted them by addressing Cecil.

"Sir, a mass attack has just been communicated to us Downtown . Enemies are numerous, heavily armed and have already caused many victims."

 Mark looked at his father and clenched his fist,

 « I'll go ! » he said with determination then looked at Lucas who simply replied "I'm staying to help mom, go and help the innocents people in danger!".

 Mark: As you wish.

 Deborah : MARK, WHERE ARE YOU GOING?!

 Lucas: People are dying mom, if Mark can do something then he should do it.

 Once Mark left, Cecil looked at Lucas, "kid you look a little sick. You don't have powers like your father and your older brother?" 

 Lucas: I have some, so what?!

 Cecil: So why didn't you go ?!

 "Mark wants to start a career as a superhero, he is the one who needs it the most and it is above all his duty. Let's just say I'm a night worker " he said calmly as he set up the little bed that Debbie had asked for because she wanted to sleep near Nolan and take care of him.

 When Cecil listened to Lucas' last sentence, he looked at him intently before realizing something.

 "So it was you eh, the vigilante , the executioner, Fear?" he asked as Deborah looked at her caring son with deep shock.

 Lucas sighed deeply before continuing, "Yeah, that's me!" he looked at Debra "I wanted to talk to you about it too but I knew you weren't going to approve but before you lecture me, know that I don't kill just anyone. I only take the lives of those who take the lives of others for pure pleasure or selfishness, prison is not an option for animals like this because the justice system itself is rotten."

 Deborah : Lucas...what you're doing...it's murder! You don't have this right, you can't kill while considering yourself the judge of these people! (Looks at Cecil) Cecil please don't arrest him. Nolan is injured and Lucas is just a kid.

 Cecil: It's okay Debra, we're not totally clean here either. In fact I even admire the character of this child, sometimes you need someone to get their hands dirty, someone who works in the shadows where the heroes seeming so upright and exemplary are in the light. This is our vision here at GDA but why didn't you even try to deny this identity?!

 "I never intended to hide, i do what feels right to me needs. when some psychopaths are arrested they find a way out or are released and once outside they start killing again. These additional crimes, these other innocent people killed are caused by those who let these executioners live instead of eliminating them." Lucas replied calmly.

 Deborah : Lucas what you are doing is not worthy of a hero, I understand you, I understand what you want to do but you'll not be seen as a hero like Nolan or your brother.

 Lucas: So that's good because I don't want to be a hero. I do what needs to be done, balance the scales. A murderer must pay for these crimes, there is no reason for him to live, eat and sleep while someone mourns a loved one killed by him. 

 Deborah :…

 Cecil stepped forward and extended his hand to Lucas, "We'd like to have people like you at GDA. Do you want to work for the Government ? Your father refused this offer so don't feel obligated to accept."

 Deborah : CECIL HE'S TOO YOUNG!

 Lucas : I refuse, I will not be under the government' orders . However, a partnership would be welcome for a fee. What do you think ?

 Cecil: Partnership?! Explain me a little.

 "It's simple, I will work with you and not for you! I would have a choice of mission which I would have complete freedom to accept or not. I will be paid for each mission and not be subject to any espionage. I also want access to information on crimes committed or attacks around the world in order to intervene." Lucas said with a mischievous smile.

 Cecil took the time to think before shaking Lucas' hand to accept his offer.

 Deborah : THAT'S ENOUGH ! 

 Deborah yelled at Lucas who just looked at her calmly.

Deborah : So you don't have any respect for me anymore ? You plan to ignore my advice when there is someone out there who put Nolan, the most powerful man in the world in this state and who could also hurt you ?

 She caressed her child's face and looked into his eyes "When you were born and the midwife told me that your heart wasn't beating you can't even imagine how scared I was. When you were a child and you were on death's door because of seizures, I prayed for hours that you would survive on your own because your father didn't care about you at all. I'm not going to make it if something bad happens to you Lucas, I'm begging you..."

 Lucas realized his mother was carrying too much tension and hugged her apologetically.

 Later, Mark came back with blood on him and watery eyes.

 Deborah immediately rushed to him and luckily he said it was not his blood but that of an injured civilian that he had brought back.

 Apparently, Mark was quite traumatized because the attack that was reported was an alien invasion and he saw a lot of civilians killed or being killed by them.

 Hundreds of civilians had been massacred and Mark could do nothing for them, he was so helpless that he had lost his means against the invaders and fortunately the heroes of Teen Team arrived to take over.

 Debbie stayed to console him while Lucas returned to discuss their possible collaboration with Cecil. Even though he wasn't a superhero, Lucas needed a uniform.

 He was a fan of military style so he asked Cecil to make him a practical and extremely sturdy outfit with some design information.

 Cecil told him that he would be delivered within the week as well as the first missions proposed by the GDA and the remuneration for these missions.

 Lucas was going to become a sort of mercenary and he knew how to convince his mother.

 The next day at school, he was walking quietly when Amber approached him again.

 She told him that it had been a long time since she had seen him and that she was looking for him because she wanted to talk to him.

 They started to talk and it was Amber who talked the most, Lucas for his part was rather disinterested, he answered her questions in a flat manner.

 Sensing that Lucas was not interested in her, she asked him if he had a girlfriend and when he said "no", she was even more distraught.

 They were walking when they saw Mark chatting with Eve, a beautiful redhead from high school, Lucas without even stopping just left.

 A little further on, he separated from Amber who was left wondering why she wanted so much to get close to someone who wasn't interested in her.

 During the night, Lucas went on patrol and he chose to go to Japan that night. It was a country that he found particularly interesting and he took the opportunity to try to visit the premises of a particular company, SAYAKA INDUSTRIES the largest pharmaceutical company in Asia.

 Lucas was a gifted child, because of his enhanced soul he was a particularly alert child who learned everything extremely quickly.

 Because of his illness, he didn't have the opportunity to go play with other children who rejected him, so he spent his time reading or learning things, especially computers. By the time he was 12, he was a pretty formidable computer hacker.

 Some time before he gained his powers, Lucas had hacked into this company's database out of pure curiosity and discovered that they were undertaking human genetic experiments. Before, he didn't really have the means to go there and dig deeper, but now he does.

 In the middle of the night, Lucas arrived at the company's Osaka branch outside the city. It was the headquarters of the biological project and this is precisely where there was the underground laboratory where the experiments were carried out.

 In the air, he took a deep breath before diving straight into the ground, spinning around like a tendril.

 He could enter directly from the premises but this could not be done without causing major damage and there were good people working there.

 From the ground, he managed to penetrate the underground labs. Lucas snuck around to observe and not act stupidly before, there were several guards wearing respirator masks and very few scientists.

 Lucas managed to knock out one of the guards and disguised himself as him, these people had families to feed perhaps and were just doing their job.

 Being able to move freely after disguising himself, Lucas was able to find one of the things he was looking for, a reason to attack SAYAKA .

 In an isolated room, Lucas saw people in cages and when they saw him, these people cowered in great fear because he was disguised as a guard.

 This group of people consisted only of women and children, all had completely shaved heads and on the left side of everyone's neck there was a number.

 "Guinea pigs, they really do experiments on human beings!!" he thought before leaving the room as if nothing had happened he also noticed two other places where in one the subjects who died during the experiments were cremated and in the other room there were the corpses of the subjects who died today 'only today and he saw many children among them.

 He didn't say anything, he couldn't say anything that was going to bring these children back alive but what he could do was make sure it stopped. He left the place and removed this disguise as anger grew within him.

 He walked without caring about anyone, mercilessly killing every guard he saw and soon, the alarm sounded.

 Lucas went to a room that looked like an incubation chamber where people were in boxes and some scientists were talking in Japanese about the alarm.

 When they saw him, they shouted and said things in Japanese that Lucas didn't fully understand, he knew some Japanese but only a little.

 Without even trying to chat with them, Lucas massacred them all before starting to dig into the computer where he found the subjects of their research and one of them interested him, it was a reinforcement project human named "Shikara".

 This project was one of the few successfully completed, it is a drug that allows its user to multiply all their physical or mental faculties by a maximum of 10.

 Unfortunately, the scientist who designed this product had been the subject of an assassination attempt and there were only 5 small capsules of this product.

 Lucas took them all, he got out of there with what he wanted so he stole all over the lab and killed every guard and scientist he found without remorse this time before pulling the plug on the test subjects in the different rooms and also the people who were in the cages.

 He found a way to return to the surface with them and let them go except one girl, a young girl about 12 years old with a physique younger than her age, this girl looked really sick much like him and it had touched him a lot.

 The girl kept saying "Saeko" when he questioned her and Lucas concluded that it was her first name and instead of leaving with the others, she stuck to him.

 Lucas managed to communicate with her and understood that she was an orphan so given her attachment to him, he brought her back with him to the United States where he went to the ADG with her.

 After talking with Cecil and telling him everything about his trip to Japan except his acquisition of the human enhancement capsules, Cecil helped him find a place for Saeko in a safe haven.

 Cecil: Kid, do you really think we're a daycare here?! Don't ever do that again, you understand ?

 "I will come to see her every day, treat her well!" he said without even responding directly to Cecil who had a migraine wondering if it was ultimately a good idea to work with Lucas.

 Two days later, Lucas left school very early, he first went to the shelter to find Saeko to spend time with her, they ate together and she also accompanied him to help Deborah who was watching over Nolan.

 Deborah at first was quite surprised when Lucas told her the story of Saeko and upon learning that she was as sick as Lucas, she took her in her arms.

 Saeko was taken aback by Debra's gesture and tears came out of her eyes.

 At the same time, Cecil also entered the room, "Attack on the city center. They're the same aliens as last time! Lucas, can we count on you ? ".

 Lucas nodded "I owe you a favor for Saeko!"I'll do this quickly but I need combat gear, I don't want to ruin my clothes!" 

 Donald brought him an all black military combat outfit, tight but not tights. He grabbed a cloth mask for his lower face and immediately left.

 In the city center, Invincible (Mark) and the Teen Team were fighting the flaxans who had already attempted an invasion three days earlier.

It had only been three days on earth but decades in their world, decades during which they had made technological advances and found countermeasures to neutralize Teen Team and Mark who had pushed them back last time.

 Robot , the team leader was paralyzed by electric mines, Dupli-kate was shot faster than she multiplied, Rex was covered under a hail of blasters, Atom-Eve was neutralized by a spherical drone which had stuck to his face like a mask and Mark was also immobilized under a solid and sticky substance.

 The leader of the alien army satisfied with his tactics went towards Mark to taunt him, he had a large scar on his face left by Mark during their first invasion.

Just as he wanted to speak, *SPLAT* a shadow quickly passed behind him and his body fell without his head.

 Lucas who had just arrived looked at the head in his hand before crushing it, he looked at Mark and shook his head before taking one of the alien weapons from the ground and pulling at the sticky material that was holding his brother several times.

 "Go help your friends, I'll take care of our guests!" he said calmly, Mark wanted to speak but Lucas had already left, he flew straight towards the aliens dodging their shots and started by attacking their machines and vehicles, then he used one of their tanks' cannons as a club to massacre them.

 The members of T. Team and Mark stood watching Lucas destroy the enemy ranks with shock on their faces, he was literally slaughtering them without any restraint and with ease while they had been neutralized easily.

 Rex: Who the fuck is this guy ?! It seems invincible but much more Invincible !!!

 Robot: I have to say that Rex is right, analyzing it I can see that his abilities are similar to those of Invincible.

 Eve: (looks at Mark) do you know him?!

 "Yes, he's my little brother and he has exactly the same powers as me!" Mark said while watching Lucas play with the aliens literally! They no longer had leaders and were no longer really organized, which made the task even easier.

 Eve: What?! Wait, by little brother you mean…the one from high school?! (Mark nodded)

 Rex: Man your little brother is doing way better than you.

 Eve: Rex shut up!

 Robot: No more chatter, we'll talk later, for now let's go help our new friend.

 Rex: HELP?! Did you watch Robot?! This guy doesn't need any help, he's almost as strong as Omni-man from here! (that's just the impression he gave)

 Dupli-kate: Rex we already told you to shut up!

 They rushed towards the flaxans as well to start fighting. Lucas while killing the flaxans noticed that several of them aged as soon as a bracelet on their left hands was destroyed.

 With his super-speed, he tore off the bracelets of at least 40 flaxans one by one in a matter of seconds and they began to wither from old age.

 He moved quickly towards robot with a bracelet, "from what I have observed they age very quickly under our time stream without these bracelets. Can you do something ? » he asked calmly.

 " I'll see what I can do ! " Robot said as he scanned the bracelet then released a sound wave which deactivated every bracelet in the surrounding area and the flaxans started to age very quickly.

 Red teleportation portals were opened by them and they began to return home.

 "Next time, they will come back better prepared like today apparently and that's a risk I can't take. Mark, take care of mom, I'll be back soon!" Lucas said before heading straight into one of the portals which immediately closed behind him.

 "LUCAAAAAS" Mark shouted when he couldn't catch him anymore, he wondered how he was going to explain this to his mother when he was the older brother who had to take risks and not the sick little brother.

 Rex: Holy shit!! Did he just leave with them?! Your brother is really...

 Dupli-kate:...Badass...or crazy maybe

 Eve: I'm sure he'll do quite well, from what we've seen he's really very strong!

 ROBOT: Invincible , your brother had a very pale and sickly complexion...as if he was...

 Mark: Sick. He has been sick and fragile since he was born and it was up to me to protect him, not the other way around (his eyes were getting wet behind his glasses)!

 Suddenly, Mark received a phone call and a few seconds later he immediately took off without saying anything to the others who remained perplexed.

 He rushed to the GDA in the room where Nolan was who was now awake and sitting on the bed with his mother. He noticed little Saeko and didn't ask too many questions.

 « DAD !! » he shouted when he saw his father and quickly gave him a hug!

 Nolan: Phew! Watch my ribs! (laugh)

 Deborah : Don't put him back into a coma Mark.

 Nolan looked at Saeko "Who is this girl ? Where is Lucas?! ".

 Deborah : Mark where is Lucas?! I thought he came to help you.

 Mark with his head bowed began to cry "Lucas...Lucas was taken away by the flaxans' dimensional portal to prevent them from coming back to invade us a third time. I'm sorry, it should have been me instead " 

 Nolan: Lucas…definitely, he is my son (he said with a proud look)

 Deborah frowned and was about to cry « NOLAN CAN YOU HEAR YOU Talking ?! Lucas is surely in mortal danger and maybe he will never come back!! I remind you that he is sick!!! »

 Nolan: Calm down my darling, that's exactly what I would have done in his place and I'm sure he'll come back very quickly! He is my son after all !

 « I thought I asked you not to call me that, I'm not your son Nolan! » a voice was heard at the door and when they looked in that direction, it was Lucas who was there. (You look more like him than you think)

 « My baby !! » Deborah rushed towards him to take him in her arms.

"How is that possible?! Your brother told me that a portal took you to their world." she asked tearfully.

 « Calm down mom, I'm fine. A few minutes here is worth several days There, I had to destroy almost their entire army and kill almost all of them to dissuade them from coming back here. I don't think we'll see them again for a long time. »

 He said calmly then looked at Nolan, "It's good to see you awake again, it saves me from seeing mom being stressed all the time because of you in this state!" he said dryly before taking Saeko and walking out.

 Mark: Your relationship is always so lovely ...by the way, mom, who was that little girl ?!
