72 Chapter 72: A Sleepless Night

Well I have a schedule, but I don't have a time one.

After Senju inspected the location the two had chosen, he laid a layer of nether bricks on one side as a base, placing the old container house on top.

Senju's decision was influenced by the uneven ground and the fear of a sudden collapse.

Once the cabin was set up and their belongings were packed away in the car, the three of them entered. Upon switching on the lights, the interior illuminated, creating a brighter space.

Senju positioned himself at the cooking area, readying to boil water. Above, a water tank, which inside held a water source.

Beneath, a convenient faucet allowed them to access water whenever needed. At the bottom, an iron box with an internal iron pipe served for drainage.

Having set up the electric stove, Senju placed a small pot of water on it, bringing it to a boil. He then proceeded to wash the teacups and teapot positioned nearby.

"Senju, what are we having for dinner tonight?" Yuuri reclined lazily on one side of the bed, while Chito sat on a chair on the other side, preparing to write in a diary.

"You're too lazy; come over and help."

"Why does it matter? Senju will handle it anyway."

"Fine, I'll whip up something delicious for Yuuri," Senju replied with a playful tone to the lounging Yuuri.

"Really?! What is it?" Yuuri, in her excitement, missed the playful tone in Senju's response.

Her reaction briefly disappointed Senju. Then, exchanging glances with Chito, they were speechless.

"Seriously, Senju, what are you having for dinner? I feel a little hungry now." Chito also asked about dinner.

"Well, there's a lot of food. What should we eat?" Senju looked at the food shelf on the side in a daze.

Then Yuuri stood up from the bed and said, "Hey, hey, I want to eat beef stewed with taro."

"What the hell is that?" Chito complained, and then he saw Senju who was thinking thoughtfully, "Do you really want to do this?"

"Well, let's give it a try. Maybe it'll be delicious," Senju said, accepting the taro Yuuri handed over.

After cleaning it, he expertly sliced it into small pieces using his sword.

(T/L: (●__●), my guy really using a sword to cut some taro.)

Next, he retrieved a few pieces of cooked beef, cutting them into bite-sized portions.

He ignited a fire on the netherrack, intending to cook there. Placing an iron pot on top, he added water and tossed in the chopped beef and taro, covering the pot.

"Is it really delicious?" Chito was still worried, while Yuuri stared at the pot, "It's okay, Chii-chan, since it is being cooked by Senju, it must be delicious."

After a while, Senju's boiling hot water was ready. He turned off the electric stove and poured a cup for everyone. The three of them waited with anticipation for dinner.

As the flames flickered, and the temperature in the hut gradually rose, they removed their coats, hanging them on the side wall.

Yet, as the water vapor in the pot reached a boil, the room quickly filled with steam, creating a white mist that enveloped everything.

"What should we do about this?" Senju was a little dazed, but Yuuri on the side pulled the switch next to him, "It's okay, I've thought of this a long time ago."

The mist within the room swiftly exited through what seems to be an exhaust fan.

"How did you do this?" Senju was a little surprised, while Yuuri stood there proudly, and then Senju could only look at Chito on the side.

"It's originally designed for dealing with water vapor in the shower. There's an exhaust fan leading outside, and the power is connected through the electric light." Chito explained. Senju realized that there were more features in their setup that he has yet to discover.

After a while, Senju tasted the stew with a spoon, and once he deemed it ready, he removed the pot, leaving only the fire still burning.

"Everyone, dinner is ready. Let's eat."

Serving beef stew with taro into each cup, the three of them sat in a row at the table and began their meal.

"Hot! Hot! Hot!" Yuuri exclaimed anxiously, burning her mouth. She blew on a small piece to cool it down before taking another bite. "Yeah, it's delicious."

"It's really good," Chito agreed, though they all ate slowly at first due to the temperature.

Senju felt relieved after tasting it. While he still believed potatoes would be better, taro proved to be a satisfying alternative.

After the three of them finished their dinner happily, they washed the tableware and put it on the shelf aside.

Then they started doing their own things nearby. Senju was also preparing to make some tea for everyone to drink.

As Senju boiled water, he observed Yuuri tending to her rifle. Perhaps motivated by finding some bullets, she seemed inclined to go out and practice marksmanship, but after lounging on the bed for a while, she apparently forgot about it.

Chito, on the other hand, diligently continued writing in her diary, capturing the details of the past few days.

"Chii-chan, what are you writing?" Senju, intrigued, looked over as she sketched and jotted down notes.

"Well, I haven't recorded what happened these days because I have been a little busy recently, so when I have free time now, I will write down the things about Ishii, airplanes and the food factories."

"Oh, Chii-chan is so diligent. How about trying some of the tea I just made?" Senju offered a cup of the freshly brewed tea.

"What is this?" Chito examined the white cup, holding a ball of turquoise liquid emitting a peculiar aroma. "This is quite unusual. Is it really drinkable?"

"Of course," Senju reassured as he took a sip. A subtle bitterness, accompanied by the fragrance of tea, lingered in his mouth. "Well, the taste isn't bad."

"Really?" Chito also tasted it, "Hmm~It tastes strange, but it tasted good."

"Hey, what are you drinking?" Yuuri hopped down from the bed, and Senju brought her a cup.

Examining the 'colored water,' Yuuri sniffed it before taking a sip.

"Well, it has a strange taste. It's a bit bitter, but it's good. It also has a unique taste."

"Really? That's good. Yuuri seems to like tea."

"Well, my mouth had the smell of beef a moment ago, but now I sense a refreshing fragrance. This stuff is really good, much better than water."

"Umu" Senju also slowly drank the tea. Slowly, the three of them drank up the cup of tea, and then they thought of taking a rest.

They all reclined on the bed, with Chito and Yuuri on one side, and Senju on the other.

However, none of them managed to fall asleep after lying there for a while.

"Yuu, are you asleep?" Chito opened her eyes and questioned Yuuri beside her. Yuuri, too, had her eyes wide open. "You're not asleep. It's more accurate to say you're not tired at all."

Then she looked over to see if Senju is also awake.

'...cute'

*Snoring*

Senju pretended to be soundly asleep on the side. The two next to him lay there until drowsiness eventually took over. Finally, the three slowly drifted into a deep sleep.
