Into the Unknown: Chapter 2

I cried and cried. I didn't remember anything but crying after that.

"LAUREN! HELP ME! LAUREN!" It was the dream again, I looked around. Where was she? I felt lost.

"ALICE. WHERE ARE YOU?!" I yelled like before. I stumbled as laughter surrounded the world around me. Everything was a blur. I heard Alice and my mom cry for help. At the same time, the laughter grew louder and louder.

"ALICE!" I yelled as I ran. I stumbled over a branch. I need to find them. I don't want to live alone. I curled up in a ball by the stump of a tree and cried.

I jolted awake. I looked around, it was bright out. I forced myself out of bed. Mom's gone..... Alice is gone... and dad's leaving...I turned to Alice's side of the room. It hurt to know I might never find them again. I felt so empty, so..... dead inside. It was as if all my energy, my life was drained out of me. I looked to the picture on the dresser. I miss our happy family, I wish I could turn back time. I wish I could turn back time to when dad still bothered to care when Mom and Alice were still around. We look so happy but all good things must come to an end. I took another look around my room before exiting. As I was almost near the door something caught my eye. Behind the family picture was a necklace. I crept closer there was a note attached to the necklace. It read, "Help us!" I can't believe it! They're in trouble! I need to help them but, where are they? I put the necklace on. I was stumped. I walked over to dad's room, he was packing his things. I trudged down the stairs to the living room and threw myself on the couch. I fiddled with the necklace, I was lost in thought. Where could they have gone? I looked at the necklace closely. I wonder why this was left with the note. Surely enough dad started down the stairs he gave me a glare and went upstairs to get his other things. It was nine in the morning but I felt so drained. Dad finally got the last of his things.

"Dad. I'm really sorry. I was just scared, I couldn't find Mom or Alice and they both disappeared after a scream came from upstairs." I said. I didn't want to lose my dad, even if he didn't love me or anyone else in our household.

"Scram you brat. I don't want to see you ever again. You're a waste of my time." Then he left his keys on the shelf and left.

"FINE. WE DON'T NEED YOU ANYWAYS!" I yelled as he left. I can't believe it, I lost everyone. I locked the door and trudged upstairs.

"Mom. Alice. Please tell me where you are." I muttered. I felt as if I could sleep forever. I was exhausted. I sat up on my bed thinking about all the good times our family had. I looked around the room. It felt as if I was in a graveyard. Suddenly, it was as if the room started to spin. Then, a blue light appeared where the closet door should have been. After a while, the blue light started to spin. I crept closer and closer and the closer I got to the blue swirling light the clearer I heard screaming from it.

"MOM! WE NEED LAUREN! SHE CAN HELP! SHE PROMISED!" a faint voice shouted. ALICE! She still believes in me!

"Alice! I'm coming!" I said as I prepared to jump into swirling blue portal which was slowly turning purple.

"Hello Lauren. How have you been?" I turned around trying to see who said that. There was no one in sight.

"Show yourself! Who are you?!" I yelled. The voice never returned, I was in the middle of hell knows where. I cannot waste any more time. I need to find Alice and mom. I wandered trying to find my way around. I wandered and wandered, not a town was in sight. A pair of cold hands covered my mouth.

" Who are you? What are you doing wandering around?" I tilted my head hoping to see their face but all that met my eyes were, eyes as cold as stone hidden behind a black ski mask.
