1 Chapter One- Unfinished Business

Jodie sighed and buried her face into the pile of papers scattered across her desk. The smell of ink and coffee was beginning to make her nauseous. "Jesus, how long is it going to take for 5:00pm to get here?"

"Another three hours." A smug voice said before strolling past the cubicle.

"Ahhh hush" Jodie groaned. "I need a break for this hell hole."

"It's your business. You can leave whenever you please." The smug voice spoke again. It was Sandra, Jodie's secretary.

"You know I can't do that now, it's tax season and all of the employees in the building wants there money." Jodie mumbled through the sea of spreadsheets.

"So what's the accounting department for? Decoration?" Sandra folded her arms.

"You know the entire department is out with the flu. So I decided to collect all of the time sheets and send them to my emergency accountant." Jodie flopped the papers down on the desk. "I just didn't know we had so much to send to the IRS beforehand. I'm down to the last one, but it's just one that's not adding up."

"And that is?"

"The new client, I've never seen him. He invested into the company 6 months ago." Jodie frowned, staring at the oil stained spreadsheet.

"Your skin is so oily girl." Sandra chuckled before skimming over the document. "Hm.. he's the virtual client in Washington State."

"Oh! That's right. Well I need to see him in person, because I do not want to get sued for money I didn't know about." Jodie pursed her lips and rubbed her throbbing temples. "I need a drink."

"Well I will see to him meeting you, let me check your schedules and compare them to his. I will get back to you tomorrow." Sandra said with a sly grin.

"What are you grinning for?" Jodie glared at her.

"You're just so cute." Sandra laughed before walking off.

Jodie laughed and returned to her paperwork. "I needed that motivation."

As the work day came to an end, Jodie decided to check into the virtual clients file. "Michael Donavan?!" Jodie let out a panicked shout.

"Oh no.."
