Chapter nine
When Lillian pulls Tai a large claw passed by her head, more than likely the passing claw would have decapitated her and Lillian fires behind them blindly pulling Tai through the door while Len pulls the emergency lock.
" Tai...are you ok " Olivia said running over checking the marks on her suit and sighs in relief, they get startled when over a dozen bangs ram into the door making the four jump back.
" Get your asses to me NOW !! " Amani said over comms while slamming her hand on a wall nearby making a dent in it .
" check what cameras you can to make sure their path is clear to us, we will group together and go to the four that are hiding in the walk in fridge " Amina said staring at the screen where she watches Tai and the group moving quickly past the crews quarters.
Suddenly a flash of light grey skin tackles Tai into a nearby room and tackles her to the floor, it was a smaller one and was using it's claws from all four limbs digging at her suit trying to penetrate it as a few tentacles thrash around trying to find a way into her suit.
" Shit " Len said pulling out her fusion sword that has a bright red blade that slices the thing in half, she helps Tai up while the other two covers the Hall.
" move out " Lillian said glancing at Tais suit seeing all of the claw marks covering her torso and helmet, Len double checks her suit making sure Tai was fine and pulls her behind while her other hand grips her sword.
" wait....do you hear that " Olivia said taking her pulse rifle and pointing to the vent above them, it sounds like a dozen nails scratching against metal and quickly moving toward them.
" go quick " Tai said pushing the others ahead of her, she felt a sharp pain on her side and had her personal A.I. check her suit without the others knowing with their comms, she takes her rifle shooting up at the vent and then loud clicking sounds was heard. The others were running to where Amani told them when the vent made a loud noise and the vent started bending its shape to the large creature that is now coming towards her.
" shit, guys hurry " Tai said pausing where she was and noticed the creatures slow right above her before the vent crashed through, the others turned around to see over two dozen of those creatures pouring out from the vent in front of Tai.
" get to Amani and get those people I'll hold them off and meet you at the hanger....move now " Tai said as she switched to her pulse grenades like her ammo so it won't damage the ship, she lets off three in the row to where it blasts her back several feet as the smaller creatures explode leaving a black smudges around while the bigger ones get injured. Tai sires off her rifle shooting the bigger ones taking out some of their legs as a few large tentacles shoot towards her wrapping around her leg throwing her down to the floor.
" shit " Tai said as she gets pulled toward the creature who had ahold of her, she dropped her rifle when she hit the floor.
Tai quickly grabs her side piece and is getting ready to shoot when someone else shoots the tentacles that were wrapped around her, she fires off over a dozen rounds taking out the small to the medium creatures with precise head shots.
" Olivia go with the others, I can handle this " Tai said as another sharp pain starts spreading where her suit was penetrated earlier and she drops to one knee grunting in pain.
Amina was nervously watching Tai and noticed that she's hurt so she grabs her large rifle, she nods to two others who follow behind her while the other finish the task with the ship. Amani points to the left where the kitchen is and looks up seeing Len and Lillian using the scopes of their guns to cover Tai and Olivia so she does the same thing.
Olivia rushed over to Tai helping her up and grabbed her rifle when they passed, the other three were taking out the creatures left and right while the two made their way to them.
" yes boss the ships data has been all downloaded and the self destruct has been set to go off in ten minutes" he said as they both exited the brig making his way to the hanger.
" good...the others are retrieving the survivors, get the isolation pod ready for their arrival and also one for Tai...Taki send all of the data to Tais mother, I've already sent a message notifying her of what we're dealing with and tell her Tai might be inflicted with whatever these things are" Amani said over Comms as the two elite soldiers bring out the four survivors which are two girls around Tais age and two younger ones.
" move out " Amani said as the ship's computer started a countdown to three minutes, Amani walks over helping Olivia with Tai who can barely walk right now and they basically are carrying her with them to the hanger while dozens of the clicking noises are gaining on them.
" Taki seal the hanger door when we get through, by us a minute " Amani said as they rushed through the sliding door that slams shut behind them and a few seconds later something large slammed into the blast doors making it dent.
" Holy shit..how big is that thing " Len said walking over to check Tais suit, she checked her side on the inside of her arm where they found a large slit in the suit with the black looking blood now seeping through.
" we need to hurry and put her to sleep " Len said hauling Tai over her shoulders running to their ships hatch, and the others follow when the count down hits a minute and counting down.
" Taki get us out of here " Amani said as Taki takes off and quickly tries to put as much space between them and that ship, they explained to the four girls about the iso pod while Amani and Lillian quickly take Tais suit off and put her inside where the pod freezes her.
Amani was looking at Tais suit and slammed her palm down on the table in the hospital bay of their ship, the other four plus Amani were there watching Tai sleep.
" her suit is stronger than ours, how did that thing penetrate it " Lillian said biting her nail when Taki enters the room with a frown, she starts moving her hands in the air on her hologram screen and puts it in slow motion when they were in the cargo bay and shows them a tentacle shoot from the side when that claw connected with her.
" that's how it was the one they had in the container" Taki said frowning while going through different screens when she pulled up another screen to where a damaged escape pod was shown leaving the ship at the twenty second mark before the ship exploded.
" so it's intelligent, can we see what route the pod will be going " Amani said clenching her fist, Taki nods her head then pulls up the nearest planet which is one of the mining planets.
" it will arrive here in the next hour and we will soon after, I've already put the route in and Tais mom is on her way there as we speak....um she wants us to take Tai out of Cryo, she said that Tai will be fine." Taki said while staring at Tai who started to sweat and her vitals are dropping.
" the Cryo doesn't seem to be working, plus Her mother said to do as she said or Tai won't make it and that her DNA is special" Taki said, they all look at one another and Lillian rushes over to the pod and Amani throws her away from it making her slam into the wall.
" don't touch her " Amani hisses out making the others eyes go wide as she stalks over to Lillian grabbing her throat, they rush over when Amani pins Lillian to the wall where her feet was off the ground.
" What the Hell..Amani let her go " Taki said as the girls run over trying to get her to loosen her grip, when they failed to do so Taki pulls a small white ball from her pocket and places it on the back of Amanis neck making her pass out.
" Lillian are you ok " Len said checking her neck out while Lillian was gasping for air, they all look at the now sleeping Amani and then the alarm on Tais pod starts going off with her blood pressure hitting sixty.
" Do what her mother said... NOW!" Lillian shouts as Taki quickly deactivated the pod, when the pod opens her blood pressure and heart rate started rising going higher than normal.
" her mother would never do something that would hurt her, I noticed that she keeps Tais make up secret...how long until we arrive and her mother " Lillian said rubbing her neck where Amanis was gripping.
" well we will arrive in two hours and luckily her mom's close as well so she'll be there when we dock " Taki said looking over at Amani then kneels down retrieving the device that takes a ball form again.
" ok I'm going to get us there as fast as I can and she'll sleep for about an hour " Taki said leaving the med bay, olivia walks over taking her nails into the infected area and green lines spread out from where she pierced her skin.
Tais ragged breathing and vitals go back to normal, she leans down pecking Tais lips and walks out of the med bay leaving Lillian and Len to deal with carrying Amani to a nearby bed to sleep.
" she'll be ok I know she will, Tell Taki to get all of the time stamps and to try finding who those guys are. We also need to search to see what lifeform we're dealing with so when we face it again we won't let this happen to one of our again." Lillian said making Len smile at her as Taki blows a raspberry into the comms.
" ehh I heard you and I'm already in it so take care of Tai" Taki said as they look over at Tai, they both smile a knowing smile when they remember that Olivia used her poison to help Tai.
" well I'm guessing Olivia will be after Tai like us three, I'm starting to think that are group will only expand " Len said passionately kissing Lillian and then pecks Tais lips, they sit down on one of the beds to watch over Tai while they hold each others hands.
