Chapter 16: Speak Now or Die

"You… are you human or ghost?!"

Cai Feng was terrified, trembling uncontrollably as his teeth chattered with fear.

"That's not important."

Su Lang's smile remained unchanged. "What's important is, you're about to die!"

As he spoke, Su Lang's wrist flicked, and the sharp blade of the knife cut a thin line on Cai Feng's neck.

"No! Don't kill me! I was forced to do this!"

Cai Feng felt the blade pressing into his neck, his soul almost leaving his body with fear. He began to beg for mercy incessantly.

"Forced?"

"How… how did you know?"

"Tell me. What happened?"

Su Lang's smile broadened. "Satisfy me with your answer, and I'll spare your miserable life."

"If I reveal anything, I'll be dead anyway!"

"Don't speak, and you'll die now!"

Su Lang flicked his knife, and a thin stream of blood started to flow from the cut on Cai Feng's neck.

"Wait! I'll talk!"

Cai Feng's fear intensified, and he began to speak with a trembling voice, "We discovered a Grade 5 medicinal herb at our base, but it's guarded by a pair of quasi-E-rank Wind Wolves. The base's main fighters have gone to deal with them."

After spilling the secret, Cai Feng's face turned ashen. He knew that if his betrayal was discovered, he would face endless torment.

"A Grade 5 herb?"

Su Lang's eyes lit up. "That's the main ingredient for refining Grade 5 elixirs!"

The value of elixirs increased exponentially with each grade. Even the most basic Grade 5 elixir could be worth seven to eight hundred gold coins!

And the main ingredient, the precious herb, would be worth at least half that amount, around four hundred gold coins!

"Where is the Grade 5 herb located?"

Su Lang asked gently, a smile playing on his lips.

"It's in the Gourd Valley, directly west of our base. It takes about half an hour to get there."

Su Lang's tone turned serious. "When did the main fighters leave the base?"

"They… they just left not long ago…"

"An ordinary person? That was half a day ago." Su Lang smiled faintly.
