13 CHAPTER 13

Anna blinked at the man, "Umm...No, it's Anna" she corrected him politely. The man opened his mouth to say something but closed it without uttering a single word.

"Sorry, I think I just misunderstood you for someone" he gave an apologetic look with a gentle smile. Although Anna returned the smile, she felt something weird, about the way he said that name after observing her face, as though he was actually calling her that.

The lady who by now had stopped sobbing but still sniffling, looked up at the man who was holding her shoulders, "What are you talking about Ric?" he looked at her and shook his head slightly, "It's nothing honey" he gave her a  smile and she rested her head on his shoulder.

Anna stood there awkwardly smiling at the couple, trying hard not to let her nervousness show. Both of them were radiating 'Rich and High Class' vibes, with their expensive and plush outfits while she was wearing a plain blue blouse with black pleated skirt. She felt so small in their presence that she could only look around, avoiding their eyes.

The couple finally turned around when the doctor approached them and Anna let out a breath of relief as she slowly slipped away from the corner and left the room. She needed some fresh air, after everything that happened , her mind was nothing but a mess. She made her way through the hallway clutching her sweaty hands together before she left the hospital going straight into the car.

"Dr, what happened to my son? Is he alright?" Charlotte was on the verge of crying again, biting down on her lips when Richard's hold on her shoulder tightened, trying to keep her calm.

"Mr and Mrs Lorraine, I would want you to come into my cabin. There are somethings I need to talk about." The Doctor said with a small smile before walking away from the room.

Charlotte looked at Ric with a hint of fear in her eyes, afraid of what the doctor was going to say, she prayed it won't be something bad. They looked over at their son who was still into an unconscious state as the lady approached him and held his hand, "Raven..." her voice cracked while she held back her sobs and retreated her hand from him before hurriedly walking out of the room. She knew she would break down if she stayed in there any longer. Ric caught up to her before holding her hand and leading them to the doctors cabin.

When they entered the cabin of the doctor, he was looking into some papers, when he saw them coming, he gestured them with his hand to take a seat and they did.

"What is it Dr.?" Richard asked patiently as Charlotte said silent prayers in her mind, gripping her hands together.

The doctor placed the papers at the side and looked at the couple, "Mr. Lorraine, I have checked on Raven and I doubt there was a hit to his head because of the accident." he said.

Charlotte gasped, as tears threatened to spill out of her blue eyes, "W-what? " her voice was soft and shaky. Richard placed his hand on hers, "And?" he asked to the doctor.

"Well, I have to got through his reports first which are yet to come but don't worry, I can assure you it won't be very serious just that- " the doctor was interrupted by a knock on the door, "Come in" he said as a nurse walked in with a blue file and handed it over to him before turning around and leaving.

"The reports are already here, give me a second please" he said as he adjusted his spectacles with his fingers and scanned the reports with his eyes. Charlotte gripped her husband's hand tight, and he gave her a reassuring nod before he remembered about the girl, "Charlotte.." he whispered softly, not wanting to disturb the doctor, she looked at him, her eyes were red and filled with concern.

"Did you see the girl, Anna, who helped Raven?" He asked and she nodded slightly, confused over why he suddenly brought up the girl. "She.... She looked so similar to Areum" he said looking somewhere beyond his sight. The lady looked up at him, before a frown took over her face, "Areum? Really? I did not quite see her face that clearly, I was just..." her voice trailed off as she recalled the scenario of Raven on the bed, looking all vulnerable and weak.

"She did" he continued as his eyes locked with hers again. "Do you think Raven will-" he was cut off by the doctor who drew their attention towards him, "Mr and Mrs Lorraine, as I had mentioned before, he did have a hit, it is not a severe one but I need to talk to Raven to know if it affected his mind, only then can we proceed further"

Both of them nodded as the doctor told them different symptoms and effects the hit could have on Raven and all them just made Charlotte and Richard more tense and nervous.

Anna sank further into the car seat and she looked out of the window, her mind wandering somewhere inside the hospital where the man she saved last night was getting treated, her face was emotionless as she stared far ahead outside at nothing. Cool wind was blowing through the window, across her face, making her grit her teeth together and lips quiver. She shifted in her seat, removing her shoes, she folded her legs on the seat and wrapped her hands around herself, her mind still not ready to let go of the thoughts of that man inside the hospital.

Ethan, entered the room where Raven was admitted after filling in on Anna's grandmother about everything that was happening , he realized Anna was not in the room as his eyes scanned around the whole room and when he did not find her, he rushed out of the clinic, looking everywhere inside the hospital ,he did not find her. Finally coming out of the hospital, he glanced at the car parked across the road and saw Anna sitting inside, her face turned to the other side as he let out a sigh of relief.

He made his way towards the car, carefully crossing the road with vehicles running almost every third second, which was earlier almost empty. He knocked softly on the door when he made it to the car. Anna did not move or flinch which had Ethan furrowing his brows, he walked around the car to the other side where she was facing and a small smile crept up the side of his lips when he saw she was sleeping peacefully.

He opened the door before sliding inside the drivers seat, and shut the door. Anna woke up at the thud sound, scrunching her face and squinting her eyes while Ethan stared at her being all adorable.

"What...What happened?" she asked with soft hoarse voice, looking up at him, he sighed, "I don't know exactly but those nurses are creepy." He said shaking his head as he fastened his seat belt around him. "What do you mean?" her voice laced with confusion.

"Yeah...they were swooning over the unconscious man, like, who does that?" he rolled his eyes in disbelief. Anna's lips pressed together into a line as she wondered about what happened after she left when suddenly she thought

'I should not have left, those nurses must be...

Wait, why am I so concerned about what they are doing to him? I am not suppose to think about that'

she closed her eyes tightly , to erase those thoughts when she heard her inner mind scoffing,

'Go save your guy from those bitches'

'No, why will I even.... Wait, my guy?'

'Uh huh'

'You....'

Anna's battle with her inner mind was interrupted when Ethan shook her shoulders, "Huh? What?" she asked blinking at him.

"Where were you lost? Did you even listen to what I was saying?"

he raised his brows at her as if he caught her doing something fishy. She cleared her throat,

"Umm...I was...I was just..." she trailed off as she heard him chuckle, she looked up at him confused, "What? Why are you laughing?"

"Nothing" he said still laughing lowly as he turned his face other way to not show her. She held his shoulder and forced his face with her palm to face her,

"Tell me" she said irritated with a pout.

He leaned close to her ears, as she stayed still not showing her nervousness before he whispered something ,

"I guess that guy is affecting you somehow"
