Chapter 7.6 - Blanc - Zero Remorse

It has been a day since Shiro's life was taken away by Yumiko's deadly bullet. Most of the batchmate were mourning the loss of Shiro. A report has already been filed to the arrest of Yumiko but I'm definitely sure she won't be caught considering her talent. What was for sure however was that Yumiko was now a wanted murderer. Although we already have an idea where Yumiko might be hiding, we find out that the mountain surrounding the fortress where Nova was staying in was magically blocked.

"According to my knowledge, it's a mirage wall. Definitely made by Nova himself. There's no way anyone else over there would be strong enough to create such an illusion." explained Mei. "It kinda reminded me of something..."

Then out of the blue, "Can't we just pummel it in?" It was Zero Yohna.

Having knowing that his classmates have been murdered he has a sense of urgency within himself toward capturing Yumiko. Aside from that, he also felt like this kind of scenario could potentially resonate something within the monster in me. Knowing full well that I am originally a monster turned into a lab experiment that turns into a human hybrid, he has to keep an eye on me just in case. He's not wrong, I might make things even worse if he's not making sure of that.

Mei then replied, "I don't think that will work, Zero. Lala have been trying that for days with her own Guardian Spirit, Dymenshne. It seems impossible unless someone have a dagger like White's".

"White?" He wondered.

Mei continued, "His dagger can cut through space if enough Infinitum are channeled toward it. I haven't seen it myself for sure but I have indeed heard of it from everyone in Team Stardust when White was able to cut through a mirage wall. It's also made by his parents..."

"Have we told his parents?" I asked.

Mei shakes her head, "We've tried contacting but it looks like none of his relatives knows of his own existence. It's probably has something to do with Nova putting a spell on his bloodline somehow."

"How does one even able to put a spell against a whole bloodline, anyway?" Zero was confused.

Mei then told us, "A divine creature like the Space-Time Dragon would definitely fit the bill."

Then I asked Mei about something that I've been wondering, "How do you know so much about this, Mei? These are all crucial information and I'm sure you still have a lot kept inside your head there."

Mei then sat down on a chair and told her story.

"You're not inherently wrong about one thing. All of those information are kept deep inside my head, yes. But most of it remain locked."

Mei sighed as her face started to look a bit gloomy, "Whoever was my real parents back then, they either left me behind or gave me away for reasons I could not fathom myself with. Eventually, Chaos Champion Escher took me in and find out that I'm much worse than Cyclone White."

"Much worse...?" I wondered, "Is it something like me? A monster?"

"Not quite." mumbled Mei. "I'm a defective wizard. I think my parents left me behind because they found out that I will never ever inherit or have any magical ability like anyone else. It made me feel like I'm some special people with special needs but that's unfair given the history of human before Infinitum came into existence."

Humans used to be magicless until just a couple of centuries ago, we don't really know what was the old civilization looked like but I'm sure they thrived in the past.

Mei continued, "With the data in hand, Escher conducted a devious experiment on me. Instead of asking me to eat an Infinitum Crystal. He cut opened my brain and fused the essence of the crystals. The crystal belonged to an Ancient Dragon that kept all the secrets of the world."

Zero replied, "The Dragon of Knowledge. I've heard of that."

"Precisely..." She slowly blinked and continued, "Fusing the crystal with my brain caused a change within me, turning me into one of the smartest human ever. But it wasn't a perfect experiment...an unfortunate accident caused during the surgery lead to most of my potential being locked away."

Mei then stood up from her chair and finishes her story, "While I may have knowledge about a lot of things. There are still millions of secrets that is still kept locked inside of me. Even to this day, I have no idea how to open them."

"So you're like a human encyclopedia?" Zero bluntly told her.

"Zero!" I reprimanded him.

Mei then lifts her arm and said, "It's alright. Everyone do call me that. I'm used to it already." She said that with a faint smile.

Despite what I've been going through, I think after hearing Mei's story made realize that even human can suffer so much than what a monster suffered. I feel like I wanted to console her just because I'm the type that usually consoled someone. But before I was even able to do that...

A little fairy drove by into the room, "Mei! Blanc!" It was Recordia.

"What is it?" Mei quickly asked.

"Two crazy people have attacked Lala." she told us.

"What?" I was shocked.

Zero then yelled, "What the hell are we waiting here? Come on!"

The three of us quickly got out of the room as we made our way toward Lala who was supposed to be at the mirage walls. Still trying to break through it. After being navigated by Recordia, we finally found Lala who was surrounded by a group of controlled monsters as well as two individuals."

Mei shouted out her surprises, "Impossible! Those two were supposed to be defeated already!"

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Those two."

Mei was talking about the two individual.

She explained, "Those are the Twin Chaos Champions."

Both of them wore identical dress. The only difference was that it was mirrored from each other. They were wearing a diamond plated armor from the looks of it. And the two of them covered their head with a mask. One in black and white and the other in white and black. So these two are Zing and Zang.

"Whatever." Zero sneered. "We can take them on."

Zero immediately attacked the enemy.

"Zero, wait!" I tried to stop him but it was too late already. I sighed and told Mei, "Come on, we don't wanna be late for the party."

Mei was still assessing the situation as she slowly nodded and followed me.

With no room left to breath, Zero's sword attack was immediately blocked by one of the twins.

"What do we have here, Zang? An insect?" One of the twin asked.

And then the other twin, Zing replied, "...destroy it..."

The excited one, Zang, proceeds to push away Zero using Zang's sheer strength. Zero was able to land safely after summoning a bunch of flowerbeds below him. We've finally reached them and the first thing I do was jump up and took out my large chainsaw blade and began swinging around to my enemy. Zang quickly summoned a shield to protect himself.

I tried to turn up my chainsaw's engine to break the shield but the shield then suddenly transformed into a different shield. It had a lion's head. The lion head suddenly came to life and tried to take a bite out of my chainsaw blade.

"Shit!" I cautiously got away.

But before I was even able to react, the shield once again transformed itself. This time it has several snakes on them, it came to life and began to snatch a bite off of me. All of the snakes got me. I screamed as I held in the pain. Zero then ran toward me and slit all of the snakes heads.

"Thanks..." I thanked him.

He looked at me and smiled at me, "It's no big deal. I don't want you to turn into an ugly creature just because of the pain you might feel."

"...Okay..." I don't really get it but I just let him talk.

Meanwhile, Zing told Zang, "...late...destroy...now..."

Zang then replied, "Alright, alright. I'll stop playing around."

Zing casts a flash of light, blinding us for just a second. His hand then has a piece of paper on it. It looked like a piece of Polaroid. He threw it to Zang.

"...now..." ordered Zing.

Then in an instance, Zang threw the Polaroid into the air and sends his snake shield to ravage the Polaroid. In a slow instance, I could see the Polaroid had Zero in it...

In just moments into the ravaging, Zero suddenly felt pain within his body. Zero started to react unnatural.

"What's going on, Zero?" I scarily asked.

But he couldn't talk. In an instance, his face was turning purple and his entire body was bruising all over the place. It almost like...a whole group of poisonous snake have sink its fang into Zero's skin. With the confusion, Zing and Zang got away as they successfully kidnapped Lala who has already tired herself up.

"No...no way..." I told to myself.

Zero was still standing, until he suddenly dropped onto his knees. He looked at me with the same smile he made just now. That was the last honest feeling I ever felt from him before he eventually fall down face first to the floor.

"No...No! Zero, No!" I tried to check on him but his pulse wasn't even moving.

Mei who was still caught up by her own confusion slowly walked to me and told me the news, "I'm sorry, Blanc...I can't even sense his Infinitum Energy anymore...it's too late..." She puts her hand on my shoulder.

Tears started to drop from my eye as I hugged his lifeless body. Zero! Why?! Why it had to be Zero?! Why can't it be me?! And you idiot! Idiot, Zero! Why do you keep insisting on protecting me! A monster! You pieces of shit! You can't leave me alone! I won't be able to control my monster instinct without you suppressing it all the time. God damn it, Zero!!!
