Chapter 7.17 - Zenith - The Beasts of Chaos

A large ferocious serpent looking monster rises from the ground as The Chaos Illusionist, Lord Escher summoned it from Nova's fortress. This serpent was known as The Ravenous Hydra. I believe I've heard of this creature through White. If I'm not mistaken, White and the others in his high school encountered the creature. But there was something different about the current hydra. It was only one. From what White have told me, there were several of them...

"I'll take care of this." Luther prepares his invisible sword.

He runs toward the hydra, ignoring and dodging the other monsters and Yokai that was near him. Once he finally reached the hydra, Luther swung his sword as well as blasting out some sharp wind blade to increase his range. Just like that, the hydra's neck was cut. Luther has successfully slain the beast.

"That's one of the thing that Team Stardust fought?" He laughed, "That was easy."

It would be easy if it wasn't for what was about to happen. As it happens, the hydra was still moving despite its neck had already been cut off. The flesh on the sliced portion of the hydra began to squirm around disgustingly as it started to grow something. Before we can even assess the situation, Luther decided to slice the hydra once again. Making sure that it was completely gone. But they kept on growing...and there were more parts this time...Which means...

"...shit." Luther made a terrible mistake.

So White was right about the hydra. It was several of them. It just happens to be like that whenever we cut off its head. It was able to regenerate its head. Through that regeneration, it multiplied itself. There were now about eight of them.

"What now...we can't just slice its head off." Blanc was confused. "How do you guys managed back then?"

Rika shrugs, "I don't know. I didn't get to see how Team Stardust did it back then."

"Well that's just convenient isn't it?" She thinks for a moment and asked, "You think Mei knows it?"

But then I said, "But she's not here yet."

Blanc sighed, "We can't get just leave them be to our friends, right?"

"Not to worry, Blanc!" Then, coming as reinforcement. Another group arrives.

"You guys!" I was relief to find out that someone I can trust arrived.

It was the girls from my class. We became friends during The Music Festival. All of them was there together in their group. The psychotic Nis Greystone, the resourceful Emerald, the quiet but determined Helena Howard, the bird lover Raven Rhodes, the demonic and angelic twin, Lilith and Lailah Silver as well as the majestic queen of the sands, Diane Luxor. They are the Seven Iron Maidens.

"We'll take care of the hydra." Diane told us. "Hey, you're Luther right? Someone wants to switch place with you."

Luther asked, "And who would that be?"

"Me." Izzy Nova Crystalist was standing behind Diane. "Sonozaki said that you should be handling the field with that kind of power."

"Very well." Luther then looked at me and said, "It was nice knowing you, Lady Zenith and Lady Blanc. Good luck with saving Sir White."

I nodded as Blanc, Izzy and Rika followed me as we navigate through the battlefield. As we kept on moving through the field however, another rumbling noise started to tremble before us. It came from one of the hills that had a bunch of trees on them. A large spherical beast started rolling out of the forest hill. On the left side of the rolling beast, Fitz Triangulum can be seen holding onto it.

We can hear her voice shouting, "Incoming!".

We jumped out of the way as the rolling spherical beast crushed the Yokai and monsters that was behind us. The large spherical beast stopped rolling as we can finally see what it looks like. It was actually something that I know of. In fact, even Fitz know of this thing. We fought it when we were in Eveiht.

It was The Golden Boar. It was as big as a double storey house. The tusk was also in gold as well as the rest of its body was. When we fought it previously, it had a very thick skin meaning that we will need to pull of some insane damage against its tough skin before we can even injure it for real. And then, it was as if right on queue, I looked at the fortress once again through my scope and saw The Chaos Werewolf, Silverbite. He howled at the moon and the moon suddenly turned its colour into red blood. The Blood Moon rises once again.

As to what I can remember, The Blood Moon makes all animals and monsters under the light of the moon to become outrageously sadistic. This also means that even more enemies have come into the battlefield. As the chaos ensues while we tried to fend off the our enemy, I suddenly felt something strong within me. Then I noticed that the back of my left palm suddenly had a symbol on it. It was a symbol of a chest piece. It was a pawn. Everyone else in the friendly side also has chess pieces symbol on their hand. I figured it was a bad thing but it only made us stronger.

Rika then assured us, "Don't worry guys! This is the commander's ability."

"Faith Rayna..." Fitz looked at the hill where Faith can be seen standing on top of a makeshift watch tower alongside Sonozaki beside her.

Rika explained, "Long story short, she can give us a role in a chess board. And each type of chess piece has different affinity to it. But all in all, it's advantageous for us. Even a pawn can be powerful, Zen!"

"Let me try out something then." I decided to test my power.

I closed my eyes as I charged both of my fire and ice magic. Once I feel satisfied, I released the charged up magic onto an oncoming wave of raging Yokai. They were demolished as fast as Rika's lightning.

"Wow. That's as powerful as my Infinite Tune..."

As everyone admired over our temporary 'power up'. A screeching noise came from the clouds. And just as I suspected, it was of course, The Crystal Roc that we fought at Gemhold. I tried to look for The Chaos Dragonlord, Vatherion. But he was not visible at all. I guess he doesn't really need to show himself up just to summon his beast.

The Crystal Roc was aiming at me as it tries to lunge toward me but immediately, the bird stopped as the three old housemates of White was protecting me.

"Kallen Lohn... Aspye Razor and... Ziggs Jeolly. I thought you guys would be coming even later."

Ziggs told me, "It's too much fun over here that Yumiko invited us to join in quicker."

"Yumiko?" I wondered.

Just as I spoke her name, the familiar sound of her gunshot was heard as it blasted off a portion of the Crystal Roc.

"I wanna have some fun too, Zen Zen!" The Night Queen makes her appearance from a portal she made using her teleportation bullet.

I quickly got annoyed for one reason, "Now even you starting to call me that! Stop it!"

"No can do, Zen Zen. It's much cuter and I love looking at your annoyed face." She gleefully smiled as she started summoning a swarm of demons. "Don't worry, Zen Zen. They follow my orders. Unless I tell them so, they won't be murdering our friends here."

"Yeah? Likely story..." Someone else appears from Yumiko's portal. "You better not do anything stupid."

It was Grace Green, Cardinal of Entertainment Magic. Alongside her was Danielle Excelle who immediately took out a portion of the raging animal using his Meltdown laser beams.

"We'll take care of the small ones." Grace Green told us. She then turned around and brought out a walky-talky and began shouting order, "Magic Entertainment! All in from sector F!"

All available students from the Magic Entertainment class has joined in the fray as well.

Grace continued, "Since that one class doesn't have a leader...I'll take care of Magic Advancement. You hear that, MA?! Drop in on sector B!"

Sam Maximus then can be seen coming from Yumiko's portal as she announced herself, "Bow down to your Queen!"

Sam proceeds to demolish a platoon of Yokai with just a single blow of a combination of the four main elements. Way behind in the horizon the members of Administration Magic has joined the battle as well.

Well this was a surprise, aside from Yumiko inviting her old housemates, she also called in her rivals as well. That's honestly a surprise for sure, but it's a welcoming surprise. It looks like a lot of things was falling into place as familiar faces has started to make their appearances to help us out.

Aspye then told me, "We'll handle The Crystal Roc, you girls go and save White."

Yumiko nods, "So he says. Let's go ladies."

With the guys handling the beast, Including me, we now have Rika, Blanc, Fitz, Izzy, Sam and Yumiko joining in this all girls group. We continued to make our way toward the fortress as we fight through the ensemble of minions that we're too easy for us.

Then all of a sudden, Yumiko stopped and told us, "Hold up everyone. I'm feeling something weird..."

"What do you mean, Yumiko? I don't sense anything much more powerful nearby at all..." Sam wondered.

Yumiko sighed, "Maybe it's just me..."

Just after she said that however, a loud slashing noise can heard. It was the same noise that I've heard previously. It was Kitsuneki's blade. He used it again. This time, he used it to finally summon the last remaining Chaos Beast. It came just below us as the ground began to shake once more.

A gigantic skeleton arm appears from the ground. It began climbing up to the surface. One by one, it started to reveal itself. It was a gigantic skeleton. It was The Gashadokuro that Yumiko and White had encountered in Nihon Island.

"So we meet again..." Yumiko sounded happy for some reason. "I would fight you but I'm also saving for whatever is waiting inside that fortress..."

And just as Yumiko has mentioned that, help would arrive in a very surprising manner. A different kind of monster has decided to punch the heck out of The Gashadokuro. I've looked around and saw Rin Zeelint and Sonozaki Wakana has joined the battlefield. Just as after that, The Gashadokuro tried to fight back but it was immediately stunned by a single card that was stuck on it. Lin August, the ninja of Magic Studies have come into the fray.

"I thought you were with Faith up there." I told Sonozaki.

Sonozaki then laughed and replied, "Well, as soon as that skeleton just appeared. Rin and Lin wanted to fight as well. So I brought these card ladies here with my light speed abilities." He then remembered, "Oh and one more thing, someone else wants to join you as soon as she saw the hydra."

"Hello?" Mei was hiding behind Sonozaki. "Hi guys. How are things right now?"

"Every things been good so far." I told her the situation. "We're getting near to the fortress entrance."

"Then what are you ladies waiting for? Go! Rin and I will handle this titan." Sonozaki lets us go.

"Oh yeah, one more thing. This is for you, Zenith." Mei handed me a communication device. "Since both Lala and White is inside the fortress. It's your turn to lead the charge for your classmates."

"I hear ya." I stood proudly as I shout into the device, "Alright listen up, Magic Studies! I'm going to save White and our Cardinal, Lala. Show them that we're not just a bunch of nerds but a bunch of legendary brilliant minds! Engage the enemy on all sides!"

And with that, the final line of defense before the fortress have finally cleared out. We've come so far and look how much we have progressed. If I have to be honest, a lot of these people wouldn't exactly be here if it wasn't because they have connection between each other. There's also the case of White who has been interacting with a lot of interesting people throughout his journey. It's always amazing to see how amazing we are. I almost feel like this would just be the beginning of a great generations of wizards. The future is looking bright with all of these amazing wizards.

With that being said, Rika, Mei, Yumiko, Blanc, Sam, Izzy, Fitz and I made our way toward the front of Nova's fortress where a single individual was waiting for us all...who will it be this time? Well, it's expected but what happens feels a bit unexpected...
