The Training Arc Begins

Waking up in a bed in the infirmary, Kaizen could not help remembering the last day.

Even though he was able to stay conscious after the hit he took from the regular who called himself Ghost, Kaizen was unable to get up from the ground and had to wait for the staff to bring him to the infirmary.

Once he was there, the doctor who had examined his body told him that he had some internal injuries in some of his organs, and thus, he would have to remain on the bed for the next two days.

Surprisingly enough, the first one to visit him was Lero Ro who had come in the morning just after the night the doctor had examined him.

"Good morning, how are you doing Kaizen?" Said Lero Ro with a gentle smile on his face.

"Well, most of the pain has receded after being treated, but the doctor said that I will have to stay on the bed for two days." Replied Kaizen, a wry smile on his face.

"I feel relieved so see that you seem to be fine. I came here today to notify you that you are already have the qualifications to move to the next floor. But the teleportation array used for it only opens one time every fifteen days, so, unless you move out after three days, you will have to wait for a longer time to proceed." Said Lero Ro with his arms crossed.

"But, if you so wish to stay, you will have to attend the position classes for a month. And, you will have to earn points by attending them so that you can buy food for yourself. Also, these points will be recorded by your pocket." Said Lero Ro causally.

Hearing till here, Kaizen asked, "Can I choose the position for the class I want to attend? Also, did my teammates choose to stay here for the month?"

Lero Ro looked up for a few moments before answering, "For the position, you will have to attend one assigned by us, although you will not need to participate in the exams for them. While regarding your teammates, both chose to stay here for the month."

"Thank you for answering my questions." Said Kaizen.

"Do not mind, it is part of my work, ah, do not forget that the classes will start in three days." Said Lero Ro as he turned around to leave the infirmary.

Getting bored of sitting all day long, it didn't take long for Kaizen to instead focus on training his ability to manipulate shinsu.

To do so, he just kept on repeatedly creating a baang, using it to enhance his body, then dispersing it. All the while using his pocket to record the amount of time he took doing so. After seven hours had passed, he saw some good amount of improvement being able to make a baang in two minutes instead of the five it took him the first time he tried it.

At evening, Kaizen suddenly had another visitor to his room.

Hearing a knocking sound coming from the door, Kaizen who was both tired and bored didn't hesitate as he said, "Come in."

Seeing a voluptuous woman with fox ears entering his room, Kaizen smiled as he said, "How are you doing?"

Seeing him on the bed, Areum felt a bit guilty since she who had agreed to hold off Ghost had failed at doing so. But, seeing that he didn't seem to blame her for it, she was able to return to normal pretty quickly as she said, "I am fine, how are your injuries?"

"Thankfully, after being healed last night, things have become much better, right now I am not feeling any pain. Although, the doctor ordered me to rest for two days." Said Kaizen calmly.

"That's good then. So, are you going to leave early or stay for now? I, myself, would advice you to stay for the next month, the lessons here could make it much easier to build a better foundation for yourself." Said Areum lightly smiling.

Kaizen nodded as he said, "The test administrator already came in and explained things to me, and I have chosen to stay for the lessons too. Thanks for explaining it anyways."

"Then, it seems we still might see each other for a while then. If you want, I wouldn't mind exchanging our contact information via the pockets." Said Areum, her face reddening slightly at the last bit.

While being surprised that she asked for it, Kaizen quickly replied, "I do not mind exchanging them."

Then, after materializing their pockets and exchanging it. Areum bid Kaizen farewell as she left the room.

Feeling both surprised and happy for getting a girl's number for the first time, Kaizen felt a bit more motivated to train and become stronger. Thus, he kept on training his shinsu for more two hours before falling asleep.

Waking up even more refreshed than any if his previous days, Kaizen ate the breakfast provided by the infirmary while grumbling, "I still don't understand how they could make food taste so bland."

Then, after he finished eating, he heard another knocking on the door.

"Who is it?" asked Kaizen.

"It is me Kyong, can I enter the room?" Asked Kyong.

"You can enter." Replied Kaizen.

"I heard you have become better." Said Kyong who was also feeling a little bit guilty.

"Indeed, I am fine, for now I will be resting for today before returning to the dorms tomorrow morning." Said Kaizen.

Seeing that he was fine, Kyong, gave a small sigh as she nodded and said, "I am sorry for acting rudely during the tests. Still, I would not mind teaming up with you in the later floors."

Surprised of hearing Kyong apologizing, Kaizen took a moment before he said, "I do not mind it. If you want to do so, wouldn't it be better if we could communicate each other via our pockets?"

Nodding again, Kyong said, "I would not mind."

Then, after exchanging contacts, Kyong said, "See you later." And then, she left the room.

Feeling energetic again, Kaizen spent the whole day training, and managed to decrease the time he needed to make one baang to one minute. Other than that, he occasionally replied to Areum's messages using his pocket.

Finally, being released from the infirmary, the first thing that Kaizen did was to go eat breakfast in the cafeteria. Although he had yet to start classes, like every other regular, he was given enough points to buy food for a week after he had passed his exams.

"Now, this is the stuff." Said Kaizen while eating the plate full of meat in the cafeteria.

While he was eating, Areum entered and sat in front of him after getting her plate.

"Good morning, how are you doing?" Said Kaizen with a smile on his face.

"Good morning, I am fine, how about you?" Replied Areum also smiling.

"I am fine. Thank you for visiting me in the infirmary." Said Kaizen.

Areum just nodded as she continued to eat.

After both had finished eating, they bid farewell to each other as Kaizen headed to the gym.

Knowing how weak he was without his shinsu enhancement, Kaizen started to train in the gym for two hours every morning after he was released.

After he finished, he retuned to his assigned room as he took a shower and sat on his bed.

His room was white, be it the ceiling, the walls, the floor, the tables, or the bed. The bed was next to a window, and there were two tables, the first being near the entrance to his room wile the other was near the bathroom's door.

He then remembered that he had yet to thank Kyung for visiting him. So, he took off to her room, and after thanking her, he returned to his own room.

Not having much to else to do, Kaizen most of the day training his shinsu. By the time night had arrived, he was already able to form a baang in less than thirty seconds.

After waking up, Kaizen said, "Today is the day we start. Hopefully I will get a good position."

Then, before getting up, he like he had done in every morning since reaching this World said, "Identity."

Due to his stay on this floor along with his adapting body skill and the time he spent training, his shinsu has been steadily growing. And although his amount of shinsu could not compare to people like Laure, Endorsi or Areum, he had already surpassed most of the average regulars.

Other than that, his only recorded improvement seemed to be in his shinsu enhancement skill that went up a grade.

Then, getting up from his bed, Kaizen went to the gym before returning to take a shower before going to the waiting room where the positions of each regular was going to be announced.

The room was still the same as the last time they were here, with the blue walls and brown couch that extended throughout the periphery of the room.

Having arrived early, Kaizen took a seat in the middle where he could easily see and hear Lero Ro .

Not taking much longer, both Areum and Kyung arrived and after saying good morning, each sat next to him with Areum taking his right side and Kyung the left one.

After everyone had arrived, Lero Ro started speaking, "Long time no see, regulars! Did you have enough rest? I know it was not long, but I hope you spent it well. You all look very driven! Thanks to the break, I guess."

Then, Lero Ro took a breath as he said, "Very well, I hope you all do your best on the test that begins today! Well, I will explain to you the test that will begin now. The test you are making this time is the positioning test!"

Afterwards, he raised his right index finger as continued saying, "Yeah. I think a lot of you have noticed this already. As you well know, the fighting in the tower is usually done on a team. The position is the role that you will play during these battles. There are lot of positions, but basically, there are five of them."

"The fisherman, who disarms the enemy by using the reel inventory. Thus, they are always at the heart of battle. They can also carry out individual activities."

"The spear bearer, who uses spears to target enemies from behind or finish off what the fisherman started."

"The light bearer, who lights up the dark tower, collects the battle data, and sends it to the scout."

"The scout, who observes the enemies' movements at the very forefront using the observer and helps the fisherman when he charges."

"Lastly, the wave controller controls shinsu to assist in battle or overpowers an opponent. They are known to dominate the battle field."

Then, a small light house appeared on his hands as it then suddenly expanded to become larger than a person as Lero Ro continued talking, "Of course, there are much more positions beyond these five, such as the guide, but it doesn't have much to do with you."

"Beginning now, you will be assigned to one of these five positions. And, you will be trained in that position for a month and only the regulars with the highest results get the right to take the next test. For your reference, you have been assigned to your positions based on the tests this far. Keep in mind that the number of those who pass will differ by position. Now, look. This table shows your position according tp the results of the previous tests." Said Lero Ro pointing to the front of the light house where a table with all the regulars and their assigned positions appeared in it.

"Also, take note that Kaizen, Areum and Kyung have already passed the test and thus will not be counted towards the quota for each position." Said Lero Ro looking at the group of three sitting in the middle.

Afterwards, Lero Ro proceeded to answer the questions of the regulars including the one about the best seeds which were those deemed as the best for each position who would earn extra points when the exam ends.

Among them, Anaak, Khun Aguero Agnis, Michelle Light and Shibisu earned the best seed title, the first for the position of fisherman, the second and third as light bearers while the last one as a scout.

Looking for his name, he found it among the fisherman, while Kyung got the scout position and Areum got the wave controller one.

Then, after Lero Ro announced that the wave controller instructor will be arriving after three days, Kaizen bid the others farewell as he headed towards the fisherman class.
