THE UNNECESSARY WORLD (14)

Marc gasped in surprise. "E-ehhh?! You're already here??" He barely had time to react before Juro smiled and stuffed a cooked chicken leg into his mouth⁽ᵐᵐ ᵗʰᶦˢ ᶦˢ ᵍᵒᵒᵈ⁾. Juro then announced, "Alright, we've arrived. It was a long but short and fun journey, wasn't it?" Bell looked ahead and saw the castle looming in the distance. It was the heart of the kingdom of Nielism, where the king resided and where the murderer of Bell's and Marc's family lurked.

Both Bell and Marc felt a surge of rage and hatred, and their aura became bloodthirsty and menacing. Hayla and Ayla sensed it and shivered, feeling goosebumps all over their bodies. They couldn't stand the oppressive pressure and fell to their knees. Juro quickly noticed the situation and tried to change the topic. He intervened by saying, "Oh! We should probably go and look for an inn to stay at." Bell and Marc sighed, calming themselves down before looking at the two princesses on their knees. Marc rushed to them and apologized profusely.

Marc: a-ahh! crap, I'm sorry I didn't mean to...

Hayla and Ayla were panting heavily, barely able to stand on their shaky legs. Hayla flashed a weak smile at Marc and said, "It's fine… see, we can still stand, haha…" Her voice trailed off as she collapsed backwards, dragging Ayla down with her. Ayla, who looked pale and drained, had no strength to resist the fall. They were about to hit the hard ground with their heads when Juro swooped in and caught them both. He lifted them gently over his shoulders, where they lay unconscious and limp.

Marc let out a sigh of relief, then felt a surge of panic. He realized that this whole thing had happened inside the kingdom, where anyone could see them. But to his surprise, no one seemed to notice or care about the scene. He looked around with a puzzled expression, until Bell explained that Juro had used a void barrier.

Void Barrier is an ability that required a moderate level of skill to master. Normally, one could simply walk out of the barrier, but it would look like they had just appeared out of thin air. The duration of the barrier depended on the user, but the average range was three to five seconds. However, most people who claimed that this was normal were actually lying to boost their self-esteem. The truth was, a true and normal Void Barrier would not let anyone escape so easily. It would be hard to break from both inside and outside, and it would only disappear if the user willed it or died. Bell reached out to touch the barrier that Juro had created, curious about its properties. He was amazed when he felt a strong force repel him back. Juro smirked and looked at Bell with admiration.

Juro: "You know your stuff, huh? Well, anyway, we should get going. Hehe."

The five of them had finally found an inn to stay for the night. Juro left the kids in the room to get some supplies, while Bell and Marc argued over who would sleep on the top bunk. The room only had three beds, and one of them was already occupied by the two princesses, who were sound asleep on the same bed. The other two beds were a bunk bed, and Bell and Marc couldn't agree on who would get the upper part. Their bickering was interrupted when Juro returned with a plastic bag full of food, seasonings, and sauces. He set up some plates on a small table and looked at Bell.

Juro: "Hey, Bell, wake up the girls. It's time for dinner."

Marc: "Wait, where did you get those plates?"

Juro: "Oh, I just bought some. Hehe. Now come on, Bell, wake up the girls."

Bell: "Huh? What? Why me?"

Juro: "You're closer."

Bell sighed and walked over to the bed where the princesses were sleeping. He glanced at their peaceful faces before gently shaking their pillows, hoping to rouse them. But they didn't stir at all. Bell was about to grab one of their hands and shake them harder, but Marc interrupted him.

Marc: "Let them sleep, Bell. They need to rest."

Bell looked at Marc with a bit of confusion.

Bell: "What about their dinner? They'll get hungry."

Marc: "We can just leave some food on their bed, so they can eat when they wake up."

Bell: "Hm..."

Bell looked at Juro, who nodded in agreement with Marc's idea. Bell let out a sigh and sat on the floor to eat.

A few minutes later, Marc yawned and stretched.

Marc: "Ahh... I'm full. Now I just want to sleep."

He glanced at Bell and sneaked towards the top bunk bed, hoping to claim it before Bell noticed. ( :3)

Bell finished eating and decided to go out for a bit to get some fresh air.

Bell: "I'll be going out for a bit. I won't be late."

Juro: "Hm? Oh, yeah, yeah."

Bell: "You seem distracted. Something on your mind?"

Juro: "Huh? What? No, I was just thinking about how I can make up for the money I lost after buying all this food."

Bell: "Of course..."

As Bell was leaving the room, he saw a girl with brown hair and eyes coming out of another room. What caught his attention was what she was holding in her hands.

Bell could not see clearly what the girl was holding, as it was wrapped in some sort of old blanket or cloth. The girl suddenly ran down the stairs and out of the inn. Bell was confused by her behavior, but he did not feel like interfering. He was not the type to meddle in other people's business, unless he had a good reason. He sighed and muttered to himself, "What is going on… I really need some fresh air."

Bell stepped out of the inn and stretched his arms. He did not have a destination in mind, but he was confident that he would not get lost. He just wanted to explore a bit of this kingdom and see what it had to offer. He walked past various stalls, houses, people, and other inns, taking in the sights and sounds of the night. As he walked, he found himself wandering into the darker side of the kingdom, where few people dared to venture at night. Bell looked at the houses he passed by and saw that they were either locked up, broken down, or torn apart. He heard a girl's cry coming from a dark alley and sighed.
