Ch 19 – Peaceful Life of Wealth and Luxury

Soft rays of flickering sunlight descended onto a quaint white room where a young man wearing a white robe slept. His hair had a unique color of black and white, and his snow-white skin gave him a celestial-ish appearance. Perhaps with the right posture unlike his crude sleeping position, and some better clothes, he would fit the role of an eastern fantasy immortal.

But this celestial-looking man was unfortunately far from what a typical celestial would be like. As the soft rays of sunlight barged and knocked on his closed eyes, they fluttered and moved, and he yawned loudly.

He moved and turned on his bed, trying to ignore the warm expanse of the sun, but as time passed, more and more light diffused into the room, illuminating it entirely so that no closed eyelids can block the bright light.

Finally, the man relented and opened his heterochromatic eyes. They were colored just like his unique hair, both black and white.

Raising his hand to his messy hair, he used his other hand to push away his blanket and sat up with serenity and subtle joy in his eyes. He surveyed the room with a mellow stare and moved his gaze outside the window onto the bustling street, and a small grin appeared on his nigh-perfect face lacking any blemishes or impurities.

'It really wasn't a dream, huh? After weeks of living alone inside a random forest, nearing the brink of insanity as murder and bloodshed became the norm to my warped and fucked-up mental health, I am finally back with my fellow humans.' Kaleido's eyes glistened with slight tears. Wiping them with his blanket, he stretched his refreshed body and stood up.

'Oh wait.' He paused and returned to his bed as if he had forgotten something. Sitting with a straight back and his legs crossed, he inspected his aperture and manually manipulated his primeval essence to nourish his aperture walls.

After approximately ten minutes, he paused and a void black bubble appeared floating right beside him. Stretching out his hand, he pulled out an assortment of petals and plants, tossing them onto the floor. Next, he waved his hand, and Gu Worms flew out from his body and landed on the ground.

As they sauntered onto the pile of food, he watched them eat to their fill in silence and smiled lightly. To him, the Gu Worms felt like his own pack of mystical bug pets that he has to take care of. It was quite a novelty for Kaleido because of the fact that his family never once owned a pet.

Now, he has to take care of five of them while also using them as weapons of mass destruction from time to time.

Finishing their daily meal, Kaleido cooed them back into his aperture and sauntered out of his room, and entered one of the rooms beside him. Opening it, he was greeted by a relatively big bathroom and entered it with a happy smile.

'A bathroom! To think the bathrooms in this world are so… acceptable! Even the toilet has something like a bidet and the waste disposal system even incorporates the use of Gu! I was right, Gu really is the science and technology of this world!' Kaleido felt that this world was more pleasing the more he stayed and discovered its wonders.

Removing his white robe, he quickly cleansed his body using the mystical equipment and gadgets born from the use of Gu and human ingenuity. Water poured over his body through the use of qi path water-related Gu, soap-like substance was also created with other Gu, and so much more made him realize that humanity was more advance than he first thought.

'Though maybe it's because Lo Clan is a super force of this world which is a stark contrast to Jie Clan.' Kaleido assessed and walked out of the bathroom after cleaning himself thoroughly. He then grabs a new pair of white robe and walked towards another door in his room and opened it by twisting the door knob with a distinct click, and the door opens.

As he descends down the hotel-like inn, he goes to the first floor, and just like the short tour he received yesterday, he found another room that almost made him burst out laughing. It was a wide room filled with black metallic objects put on racks or on the ground, weird machines and equipment were strewn everywhere in an orderly fashion, while big macho men and thick-thighed women carried those black objects and did weird motions with them.

'It really is a gym, though more magical and perhaps even better compared to the gyms back in modern Earth. The usage of Gu means even a small dumbbell can be as heavy as 100 kg! Gu can also be used to give a temporary stamina boost, heal muscular damage for quicker gains, and so much more! Hahaha! Perhaps in this world, I'll be able to build a physique that would be aesthetic as hell!' Kaleido's grin widened as he went into the room with excitement.

While he was back on Earth, Kaleido himself never entered a gym as he found it too much of a hassle. Even the nearest gym from his house would take minutes by riding a car, and if he walked towards it, it would take him more than 20 minutes. In contrast, if he just did calisthenics and bodyweight training at home, then it would be more than sufficient for him.

***

'Fuck, that was tough.' Kaleido lay on the ground, his body oozing with sweat and illusory steam. Wiping the sweat from his forehead, he laughed for a bit and thought, 'Maybe I should have showered after working out.'

Shaking his head at the slight mishap of judgement, he silently bid farewell to his own corner of the gym where no one else can disturb him. Kaleido himself was a huge introvert from time to time, but he wasn't afraid to go talk to someone else if he had to, and after being socially starved for nearly an entire month, his extroverted side has bloomed slightly.

But even if that was the case, he still finds interacting and talking with other people he doesn't know that much too annoying. He would rather be alone and silent than have to force himself to talk with someone else.

Dismissing his random thoughts, he walked up the stairs and arrives at his room once again. There, he tosses his second pair of white robes and showered swiftly, all the while lamenting the wasted and dirtied robe that he'll have to wash later. 'Sigh, I should have just worn something cruder and boorish before working out. Oh well, you live, you learn.'

Keeping this lesson in mind, he wore his third set of white robes and summoned his space bubble once more. Pulling a light brown pouch out of it that clang and produce the crisp sound of metal hitting metal, his eyes glistened, and tied the pouch to his waist.

Finding that everything else was all set and prepared, he nodded his head and headed out of his room again, and appeared back in the long hallway of the floor he was in. Rapidly descending down the stairs, he nods his head at the receptionist of the hotel and walks out of the hotel-like inn onto the outside world.

Without pausing, he walked with brisk but gentle steps towards the bustling streets in a certain direction. As his stomach rumbled with hunger, his mouth started to salivate and he thought to himself, 'While exploring yesterday, I encountered a certain restaurant that was continuously recommended by people here and there. I heard that their food is one of the best on this side of the city!'

After arriving and renting his own room in the hotel-like inn, he has directly slept for more than ten hours. Due to that, his stomach has been more than hungry after he woke up, especially when he destroyed his muscle fibers and stressed out his nervous system with the strenuous workout session he had.

But it had to be done. If he wants to survive in this world, he'll need more than just a sharp mind but also a fit body. Fortunately for Kaleido, he has a few cheats up his sleeve, and one of them is his faster healing rate that, in theory, would allow him to build more muscle with less time.

Building muscle requires the broken-down muscle fibers to heal and grow, so if he can heal them faster, then he can destroy them faster and allow them to grow faster.

As he was thinking about the deeper science of his 'aesthetic body workout program' that had his faster healing as a fundamental variable, he paused as a certain magnificent scent whiffed into his nose and he moved his gaze to the building beside him.

Seeing the restaurant's sign hanging over its door, along with the fancy interior and exterior, he was certain that this was the restaurant he was looking for. Without an ounce of hesitation in his body and mind, he entered the restaurant and was soon greeted by more pleasant scents and smells as if it was a sea of delicious invisible food he can almost taste just by the aroma.

Feeling his stomach grumble with hunger, he hastily went and sat down on a seat and grabbed the menu placed on the neat white-clothed round table.

On the menu, an assortment of food and images were placed in an orderly fashion. Each of the food looked wonderful and splendid, and the price was decent as well. With his status as a Gu Master, he has a lot of money compared to normal people, so he can easily order as many meals as he wanted to.

Seeing the waiter near him, he silently read out his list of orders inside his mind as a sort of rehearsal until the waiter arrived.

The man had slick back black hair and a mustache, wearing a button-up long-sleeved white shirt under a black vest, he also wore black trousers and black leather shoes.

"Can I get your order, sir?"

"Yes, I would like…" Kaleido slowly listed out his order.

At first, it was normal, but as he continued without pause, the waiter couldn't help but ask with cold sweat on his forehead: "Sir, are you sure you want them all? Are you perhaps eating them with someone?"

Hearing the concerned waiter, Kaleido chuckled and said, "Don't worry, while I may not look like it, I can eat a lot," and under his breath, he continued: 'I can eat an entire wolf and deer if I wanted to, and I'm not even lying about that part.'

Living inside the forest made Kaleido face danger at a frequent rate, meaning his body longed for nourishment and growth. Along with his accelerated metabolism, he can quickly wolf down an entire deer in a day, and perhaps even in a single session if he was particularly hungry and had many wounds he needed to heal.

After a short while, the waiter walked away with the absurd order of Kaleido and couldn't help but mutter in a quivering voice, "Not mentioning the absurd amount of food, just the price alone is something I would only be able to earn in a very long time. He must be a rich young master."

Finally, as his stomach grumbled and roared on and on, his array of food finally arrived after so long. Seeing those delicious-looking meals, Kaleido held back his urge to lunge forward and just devour them on the spot and waited for them to be placed on his table like a civilized person in human society.

Seeing the display of food placed neatly in front of him, Kaleido grabbed his utensils and closed his eyes: "Oh dear divine self, fuck all of those useless gods, thank you to me and only me. Thank you for persevering and working hard with absolute disciple for nearly an entire month inside that forest, allowing me to finally live a life of wealth and luxury!"

Opening his eyes, his eyes glinted and he grinned, saying in a soft whisper: "Thank you for the food!"
