Framing shadows

The final semester ended and fortunately, Si Jian competed her law studies with good marks. Afterall she was the prodigy of her university and the graduation ceremony ended,unravelling the new start of Si Jian's career as a lawyer. No doubt Si Jian now intended to become the law prodigy after being the prodigy student of her university.

The incident of the mafia prodigy's sister's death caught the eye of Si Jian. The incident was like an eye candy to her. She became determined to help Huan Jing unravel the path to the shadow killer of his sister. Her smirk growing more determined and stubborn as she watched the news on television and she decided to return back to her hometown China.

Huan Jing stood by the window, his gaze fixed on the bustling city below that his office of murder's and smuggling overlooked. The door creaked open, and a woman in a grey organza long frock like a princess entered. She exuded an air of confidence and royalty that immediately commanded attention.

"Mr. Huan," she said with a professional smile, "I'm Si Jian,recently completed my law studies and I guess you would've already reviewed my data's of studies and background that I sent.I've recently completed my studies and joined this firm and this will be my first case even though it is underground and won't even be considered legal."

Huan Jing turned to face her, his eyes studying her carefully. "Si Jian, huh? I don't like disappointment, so l hope you're up to the task."

Si Jian nodded, her eyes meeting his with unwavering determination. "| assure you, Mr.

Huan, I will do everything in my power to uncover the truth and bring the responsible party to justice."

"Why would you want to meet me to take over this case ? First of all, this whole incident and my work is illegal and underground. Who would want to work for a mafia ?"

"Sir, I know that my investigation and analysis and everything will be underground just like your own work and the incident and I know you yourself are the person of illegal activities but I am not working for you, instead I am working for your...late elder sister...….. I saw the news of her death on the television and I know about you and your activities since your always a hot topic over the news even dominating over the authorities with your illegal bloodline. The police won't dare arrest you no matter what you do, you walk around freely wherever you want while you also stay underground so what's the problem in getting involved with someone like you just for uncovering something I found interesting ?"

Huan Jing listened to Si Jian with pure attention, his suspicions ringing in his mind about a young lawyer who recently completed her studies being so diligent and stubborn to take over this work of finding the shadow murderer of a Mafia's sister when so many lawyers just shivered from the sight of this all and many even rejected because of Huan Jing being a mafia.

Over the next few weeks, Si Jian diligently worked on Li Wei's case. She pored over evidence, questioned Xiao and Huan about the incident and rivals of Huan's sister and also the people in the party,and presented her findings to Huan Jing.

"Here,Sir!" She handed over the analysis data and other documents and the findings she concluded.

"I believe it was one of the people in the party and madam Li Wei knew her."

"What do you conclude ?"

"After reviewing all your cctv's and other data's,the only conclusion I can get to is Ji Yeon!...…."

"Explain !"

"Yeah... So at the night of party, the time that you are telling me about the incident. The time when the killer had announced its first word….just before that moment,Ji Yeon had went out by the excuse of washroom and then she never returned! Turns out Miss Ji Yeon is the same person who's parents were your mother and father's enemies but later they turned to friends. Miss Ji Yeon has recently came back from London after completing her studies and guess what ?.... She studied in the same university as Miss Li Wei.

On addition to all of this, she has committed five murder's in London which was covered up by her parents and one more thing is that the murder's she committed were actually carried out by either knives or dagger's and she never showed her face or her identity as a killer and she committed all this just like a shadow killer and her identity was found out when her last victim survived......…Now she's nowhere to be found after your sister's incident and her family is probably going feral trying to find her."

"Yes I remember her parent's sharing about their daughter missing with my parents and as far as I remember even my parents have been helping them to find Ji Yeon. I did suspect each and every member of the party but why didn't I find out about Ji Yeon's crime's? What makes you so confident about Ji Yeon being the shadow killer."

"I'll show you the solid proof of Ji Yeon….."

Si jian said as she handed out a some files and placed a laptop infront of Huan Jing,"Tell me when you're ready to see this deleted footage of your cctv's."

"What do you mean?"

"Go through the document first!"

Huan Jing stared at the evidence laid out before him.

Photographs, documents, and pieces of information that seemed to point towards Ji Yeon, the daughter of the rival mafia family.

He clenched his jaw, struggling to process what he was seeing.

Sienna Li, who was actually Si Jian in disguise, watched him carefully. "Huan Jing, the evidence is compelling. It seems that Ji Yeon might be involved in your sister's case."

Huan Jing's fists tightened, his gaze never leaving the incriminating photos.

"This is the same gloves that Xiao and you saw the shadow killer wearing on the day your sister was killed by her and these are also the same gloves that Ji Yeon wore while attempting the brutal murder's in London...….I got it from the Crime authority of London itself." Si Jian laid the pouch containing the gloves. Xiao and Huan confirmed this was the same gloves they saw the killer wearing.

"The photographs are taken prior to the party started by a stalker that was stalking Ji Yeon, he's in prison for intense stalking and also he's the main suspect of Ji Yeon suddenly going missing...it's clearly seen in the photograph that Ji Yeon has something in her hands that seem like a small device, in the other photograph she's seen sticking something on the entrance of the pavilion and it's the same device.... Also in the next photograph she's somewhat having a sinister smirk plastered on her face while she's looking at something in her hand which is not visible to us."

Huan Jing's mind raced as he thought of how he could miss all this ? How did he become such a foolish that he couldn't get a hold of this ?

"What's with the laptop?" He asked as he looked towards Si Jian with his enraged eyes.

"You said the IT sector of your mansion was hacked and to the point that even Xiao's secret signal sending watch was hacked...…there's a deleted footage that I hardly managed to recover with the help of the Technology ministry of cybersecurity." She said as she tapped on the play button..."the footage showed Ji Yeon holding hands with Li Wei and dragging her towards the backside while Li Wei was saying something but Ji Yeon keeps dragging her although it seems friendly but this footage is right before the killer announced their first words...…. It is possible that she had a friendly behaviour manipulating Miss Li Wei to come with her!"

Huan Jing clenched his jaw,his fist tightening more and more until his veins looked as if they would burst out from his skin,"You can leave Miss si jian!" He said as he got up from his chair and unbuttoned another button of his shirt.

Si Jian looked towards Huan Jing and smiled like a princess," I only hope to bring you justice Mr.Huan." She said as she patted on Huan Jing's arm's that seemed to tense.

"Leave the pen drive here with me Miss Si Jian, I will contact you after I think over this!"

Si Jian smiled with a gentle bow and departed from the room.
