MR and IHSR

(2nd February 1951)

Satyankar returned to India after the negotiations with UK and talks with USA.

While the India-US friendship agreement needed more time to come into fruiton, and after international manufacturing in Bengal, Kerala and Mumbai+, 50 million USD investment was pledged for Punjab, especially in plastics. Moreover, this time with proofs, Satyankar suggested a ban of CFCs due to the breaking down of Ozone Layer.

Truman invited India to the UN in the March session, since UK wouldn't have any reason to block India's permanent membership.

Anyway,

"No news from China?"

"No."

"Then move some troops to the borders, and start building roads strong enough for tanks and airforce plane landings, and other infrastructure."

After giving orders to the military guys, Satyankar got into planning with the railway minister Hafiz Ansari and the planning comissioners of SuperCities of Mumbai and Kolkata.

The long term goal is to have almost every track electrified, have metros in every SuperCity, and have all of them connected with High-Speed railways.

The 1950-55 goal was to lay standard high-speed standard gauge tracks between Mumbai, Panaji, Surat, Delhi, Varanasi, Ayodhya, Patna, Kolkata, Ranchi, Bilaspur, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Nagpur, Mumbai.

Moreover, planning for Mumbai Metro.

As the Planning commissioner of Mumbai put down a blueprint of the city as requested, Satyankar put a slime mold in it along with some food in all planned metro stations.

"In some days, this will tell us the most efficient way for the metro."

"Really?"

"Really. Let's compare your design with it when the slime has done its job."

After that the plan for High-speed railway between Kolkata and Delhi was started.

"Do we really need it? Shouldn't we focus more on aviation?"

Satyankar shook his head.

"Our middle class is rapidly growing, but to be able to afford aviation, it will take decades.

High speed railways will be used by more people, will be cheaper then planes, and will be better for the environment too."

MR(Metro Railways) and Indian High Speed Railways(IHSR) were established with the goal of first metro in Mumbai to be built by 1956, and the first High Speed train to be built between Delhi and Kolkata by 1958, both on standard gauge instead of the broad gauge that was forced upon India so that only Britain can sell the coaches to India.

Many jew engineers, which are now Indian citizens, were spearheading the project of building the best engines and coaches made for speed, safety, and economy.
