Kol's laughter reverberated throughout the Mikaelson home as he exited the parlour. Elijah and Klaus looked at one another, a hint of doubt hanging in the air.

Elijah broke the silence, saying, "Kol always did have a way of turning serious matters into a joke."

Klaus nodded. "True, but his unpredictability makes me uneasy. He's a wildcard, and we can't predict what move he'll make next."

Meanwhile, Rebekah and Katherine strolled through the mansion, leaving the brothers to their discussions. Rebekah, curious yet cautious, finally broke the silence.

"So, care to explain what happened in Chicago? You watching Stefan and me?"

Katherine, maintaining her confident demeanor, smirked, "I was merely keeping an eye on my favorite Salvatore. I didn't want him to turn into a bloodthirsty monster. As for you, darling Rebekah, I have no interest in your romantic escapades."

Rebekah raised an eyebrow, skepticism evident. "You expect me to believe that?"

"Believe what you want, Bekah. I had my reasons, and I've paid the price for every move I've made," Katherine retorted.

Back in the parlour, Klaus and Elijah continued their conversation about Kol's decision. Elijah, ever the diplomat, suggested, "Niklaus, perhaps this is Kol's way of encouraging us to embrace a semblance of a normal life. After all, we've spent centuries in turmoil and chaos."

Klaus, however, remained skeptical. "Normal life, Elijah? We're not built for normal. Kol might be reveling in this newfound freedom, but I can't help but feel there's more to his plan."

Elijah, with a hint of concern, added, "He did mention gifting Katherine to Rebekah. I hope that doesn't bring more trouble."

Meanwhile, in another part of the mansion, Kol found Rebekah and Katherine engaged in conversation. He approached with a mischievous grin.

"Ah, the ladies are conspiring without the interference of our overbearing brothers. What secrets are we sharing today?" Kol teased.

Rebekah shot him a glare and said, "Kol, this doesn't concern you."

"But, sister, everything that happens in this family concerns me. I am the merrymaker, after all," Kol replied, twirling a dagger in his hand.

Rebekah rolled her eyes, knowing that reasoning with Kol could be an uphill battle. Katherine, unfazed, quipped, "Well, Kol, since you're so interested, we were just discussing your grand plan for my 'punishment.'"

Kol's eyes sparkled with mischief. "Ah, my brilliant plan! It's about time we added some spice to this Mikaelson drama. Just imagine Kitkat here being your protector. Who would have thought?"

Rebekah, unamused, muttered, "Your idea of spice is questionable."

As the Mikaelson siblings navigated the aftermath of Kol's trial and contemplated the uncertain future ahead, one thing was certain—the dynamics within the family had shifted, and a new chapter had begun.

The day for the ball was arriving.
