The meeting with the advisors was concluded. She put her hand on her forehead as she was tired mentally from all these politics.

With the decision made, Tsunade knew she needed to inform Naruto and find a suitable candidate to accompany him on missions from now on. She couldn't entrust this task to just anyone, and she wanted someone who could be both a mentor and a guardian to Naruto.

Tsunade left her office, making her way through the bustling corridors of the Hokage's mansion. 

She first sought out Jiraiya, Naruto's mentor and a trusted figure in the village. She found him in his usual state, indulging in his love for sake at a local bar. A couple of sake cups were near him ready for use.

"Jiraiya," Tsunade called out, her voice stern but with a hint of concern.

The legendary Sannin turned to her, a mischievous grin on his face. "Tsunade, what brings you here? Missed the old little me?"

Tsunade didn't mince words.

"I see you are as stupid as usual" With that she shook her head, took off one cup, and drained it completely.

Then her expression turned serious.

"I just had a meeting with the advisers. They've given their approval for Naruto to continue taking missions, but they insisted on assigning him a teammate from Root to keep an eye on him."

Jiraiya's expression darkened. He had his reservations about Root, having witnessed its methods and secrecy firsthand. "That's not ideal, but I suppose we don't have much of a choice."

Tsunade nodded, then glanced around the bar. "Let's go to the training grounds, I have sent for both Yamato and Kakashi. We need someone trustworthy for this role, and Yamato can fill that role."

Jiraiya drained his sake cup wiped his mouth and smiled. "Let's go then."

When they reached there, they found Yamato there on time.

"Late as usual… that bastard Kakashi" Tsunade was already irritable.

Jiraiya hurriedly spoke up to ease her worries.

"So, Yamato here can keep watch over the root ninja chosen by the advisors, right?"

Tsunade sighed and nodded her head.

"However, that isn't the only reason."

Jiraiya used his brain to think over what she said and soon reached a conclusion.

"I see."

"It's true, that Yamato here can restrain Naruto in case of anything happening, his abilities do have that effect"

"However, Tsunade, you are underestimating Naruto greatly,"

Yamato looked at Jiraiya and could grasp the meaning behind his words.

"Does that mean Naruto won't go berserk if he uses the Nine-tails chakra?"

Jiraiya had a smile on his face and nodded happily.

'It isn't thanks to me, but somehow that kid managed to do it…'

He didn't say this out loud, but Tsunade wasn't yet convinced as she was worried for Naruto.

"What master Jiraiya said is true,"

It was at this moment that Kakashi joined them.

"KAKASHI! You are late!" Tsunade roared.

"Sorry, sorry, I got lost on the way…"

*Bam*

*Argh*

A painful cry sounded. And Kakashi had a bump on his head.

"Cough, so what I was saying was Naruto can indeed stay sane during the transformation."

"After all, during the last mission, he had used the nine-tails chakra easily, and we managed to beat the opposition thanks to him, he was even joking while using it"

At this time, they all looked at Kakashi seriously.

"How many tails did he use?" Jiraiya was curious.

"Three,"

At that, he was surprised a bit since he only had seen him use one.

"As expected of Naruto,"

Tsunade thought for a bit and finally decided to put her trust in the brat.

"Yamato, you should now go introduce yourself and prepare your team for the upcoming mission," 

Yamato nodded and withdrew.

Leaving just Kakashi and Jiraiya with her.

"Master Hokage, don't you think Naruto and Sakura don't seem to care for the Sasuke retrieval anymore?"

Both Tsunade and Jiraiya who had noticed this nodded.

But Tsunade added.

"I can tell what they are thinking, it isn't that they don't care for him anymore, but rather that they had matured and are now trying to respect his wishes, though deep-down, they still consider him their companion"

Both nodded at that.

But Tsunade added in her mind.

'It's just that they no longer have those obsessed feelings' Naruto no longer liked Sakura that way and Sakura got over her obsession with Sasuke.

In the hidden village of Konoha, a sudden confrontation unfolded between two shinobi, Naruto Uzumaki and Sai.

At this moment though, Naruto wasn't yet aware of who Sai was and was focused on the ink lions coming toward him.

'This guy is… pretty weak'

Naruto slapped the ink lions with his bare hands and they exploded making everyone look at him incredibly.

But he just ignored everything.

'There he is'

He located him easily and then he sent forth some wind balls by using a wind jutsu making Sai have to appear as he dodges.

Now everyone was able to see him.

Of course, Sakura with her observation haki spotted him even before Naruto, it was just that he was too weak for her to put her guard up. Since Naruto was only able to react when he sensed the malice directed at him.

Sai, known for his pale complexion and emotionless demeanor, was a member of the secretive organization Root and had been sent on a mission to observe and evaluate Naruto's abilities. 

At this time, he stood there and glanced at Naruto and wondered about his mission.

He was sent to keep track of Naruto and report anything about him.

And the earlier opinion he had about him was that he was a failure, but it seemed that he was hugely wrong.

"You, you're from Konoha, why are you attacking us?"

Naruto felt his eagerness for a fight subside as he noticed the Konoha headband on this newest arrival.

Meanwhile, Sakura just shook her head at this.

Sai started to introduce himself.

"My name is Sai. The newest team member of Team Seven,"

He explained how he was their newest teammate by order of the Hokage.

They were a bit perplexed since the Hokage had allowed them earlier to search for their own teammate themselves but they weren't too hung up about it.

After all, if this wasn't a mission by the Hokage they wouldn't even take it.

Actually, they would, but not for the goal of getting Sasuke back, but rather, to see where he had reached in his pursuit of strength.

"Is he stronger than me?' Naruto wondered.

Even Sakura had the same expectations as him.

But soon, the next words of Sai grabbed their attention.

"My mission this time, was to see your strength, Naruto"

And with that he attacked Naruto.

Sakura remained in place as she observed.

Though her eyes did wonder to a shady alleyway nearby where she could feel a certain someone.

The person then coughed and got out walking until he reached near her.

"As expected of the disciple of Master Tsunade,"

This was Yamato.

"Pleased to meet you, I'm the new Jonin leader of team seven, Yamato"

Sakura shook his hands and smiled a bit.

Both she and Naruto had heard they would have a temporary teacher, and they didn't mind.

She then focused back to Naruto who dodged Sai's ink creation easily.

'This is gonna be over soon' She thought.

"Is this all…?"

Naruto dodged two attacks and then shook his head disappointedly.

He then disappeared, and at that moment not even Yamato could follow his movements, and appeared back behind Sai and swiped his legs from under him throwing him to the ground with enough force that Sai started wheezing for air as his organs shook from the inside.

"To test someone, you have to be quite strong you know"
