Power of Abomination
While Russell's words were serious, it was evident that Blonsky wasn't paying attention at all.
As Russell approached him, Blonsky didn't opt to reload his pistol. Instead, he discarded the gun, took a step back, and drew the modified M9 multifunctional bayonet from his waist.
As he gripped the M9 bayonet in his right hand, Blonsky fiercely thrust it towards Russell.
At that moment, he was using the military hand-to-hand combat techniques commonly employed by US special forces.
Although opportunities for close combat were diminishing on modern battlefields, training in knife combat and assassination hadn't been entirely abandoned and still remained part of the US military training curriculum.
The M9 bayonet in Blonsky's hand came at Russell with great force, akin to a bolt of lightning aimed at his heart.
However, just as the bayonet was about to strike him, Russell struck back.
Bang!
A clean right hook.
Blonsky was sent flying by the punch.
Although Russell had struck second, his right fist hit Blonsky's head first.
The reason was simple: his punching speed was far superior to Blonsky's.
Blonsky, who had been injected with the enhancement serum, was already considered a super soldier in terms of physicality.
However, super soldiers came in different tiers.
The present poster boy of SHIELD, Captain America, was a perfect super soldier, with his physical capabilities—strength, senses, reactions—reaching the human potential's limits.
Though Blonsky was now a super soldier too, he was slightly inferior compared to Captain America.
However, he excelled in one aspect over Captain America: his regenerative ability was stronger.
Even with completely shattered bones, he could fully recover within a matter of days.
After punching Blonsky away, Russell calmly walked towards the now-standing Blonsky.
He hadn't put his full strength into that punch.
Otherwise, upon impact, Blonsky's head would have exploded like a watermelon dropped from a great height.
Upon reaching Blonsky, Russell wasted no time and attacked again.
Bang! Bang! Bang...
Despite Blonsky's extensive combat experience and his enhanced physique, he was no different from a punching bag when facing Russell.
Russell easily countered Blonsky's military combat techniques.
Every time he countered one of Blonsky's attacks, he would land a powerful punch that sent Blonsky, who seemed to be acting without rhyme or reason, flying.
Upon seeing Russell suddenly start fighting with Blonsky, General Ross's initial reaction was to stop them from further injuring their teammate.
However, at this point, neither Russell nor Blonsky would heed his commands.
As Russell unilaterally pummeled Blonsky, the dazed Hulk, who had been struck by Serum Smash, climbed out of the massive impact crater.
He swayed his head dizzily and slapped his own head with his right hand, trying to dispel the dizziness.
After he stopped slapping his green head, he spat something out of his mouth.
They were his teeth!
Broken teeth!
After spitting out his broken teeth, he panted heavily as he looked at Russell, who was beating up Blonsky.
Although he didn't know why Russell suddenly started fighting Blonsky, there was one thing he was certain of.
Hulk was angry!
Hulk wanted to vent his anger!
Seeing Russell's figure, the fire of anger in Hulk's heart grew stronger.
In the end, he beat his chest like a gorilla and let out a roar reminiscent of an ancient beast.
The tremendous roar immediately drew General Ross's attention and that of his team.
Upon witnessing Hulk stand up again, Betty shook off the soldier by her side and ran towards Hulk.
However, just as she took a few steps, she was tackled by the soldiers following her.
Hulk had originally intended to release his anger aggressively.
However, upon seeing Betty being tackled to the ground by another man, his anger shifted focus.
Without hesitation, Hulk charged towards General Ross like a mad rhino.
"Open fire! Everyone, open fire!"
General Ross decisively gave the order.
At this point, he had no interest in why Blonsky had attacked Russell.
Rat-a-tat-tat...
Intense gunshots resounded continuously as the American soldiers aimed their rifles and the machine guns on the Humvees at the charging Hulk.
After issuing the order, General Ross didn't hesitate. He immediately instructed the soldiers to take Betty away.
The moment the gunfire started, Russell temporarily stopped attacking Blonsky and looked towards General Ross.
Although he didn't have a personal relationship with General Ross, it was undeniable that General Ross was his employer at the moment.
Until he received the promised reward, he wouldn't let his employer die in front of him.
Just as he was about to intercept Hulk, who was charging towards General Ross, a system message appeared in his field of vision.
"Standard Reward: Power of Abomination; Status: Inactive; Activation Condition: Subdue the embodiment turned into Abomination, Blonsky; Activation Effect: After activation, gain the ability to transform into Abomination!"
The instant he read the reward message, Russell made a decision.
A mere reward to transform into Abomination was not enough to spare Blonsky's life. No kidding!
Without any hesitation, he grabbed Blonsky's head and lifted him off the ground.
Then, he exerted force with his right hand.
Bang!
Blonsky's head was completely crushed by his grip, exploding like a melon hit by a heavy blow.
Brain matter splattered, blood sprayed!
After finishing off Blonsky, Russell didn't waste any more time. He charged towards Hulk.
It was time to end this, now that he had tested things to this extent.
Continuing the fight was risky; who knew if Hulk's strength would grow even further.
As he sprinted towards Hulk, four sharp tentacles resembling tails emerged from his lower back.
