Chapter – 55: Using the Parasite again
[Rei POV]
Inside the Origin Space, Konoha.
[Beep! Soul injury healed 99.99999%. Removing 'Injured' from the status window!]
[Beep! Upgraded Parasite model analysis complete. Ready for construction and deployment.]
'Finally!' I think 'A.I chip show me the details,'

[Mode of deployment: Has to be injected physically with Host's chakra as the medium.]

[Abilities:
1. Copy: Copy all of the subject's memories and transfer them wirelessly back to the main A.I chip.
2. Shadow: Ability to hide by attaching to subject's soul and appearing to be a part of it. No known method in host's memories is able to detect it.
3. Self-destruct: Activate remote self-destruct protocol to destroy the Parasite. Self-destruction can be activated in two modes. a. silent b. with damage.
4. Final Act: Take full control of the subject's body for a limited amount of time. The subject will be unconscious for the amount of time this ability is active. The Parasite will self-destruct in silent mode after using this ability.]
[Warning: Building of the Parasite will remove a small part of host's soul and transfer a subroutine along with it into the subject's body. After each use, not recommended to create another one until host's soul recovers.]

1. Amount of time host can take control with Final Act and the damage with Self destruct depends on subject's strength.
2. Growth in chakra reduces the time required to completely heal the Soul injury.]
'Worthy of being called an upgraded version,' I smile.
This time around when upgrading the parasite, I placed the most importance on the reduction of time needed to heal afterward. The A.I chip, after numerous simulations, was able to reduce it by a great extent and the best part is it can be reduced even further by increasing my chakra!
I needed this parasite to stay with the subject for a long time without him ever being able to notice it, like a shadow, and wirelessly transmit everything that the subject goes through to the A.I chip which will filter out the personal memories and save them for my review and further processing.
There are also two additional features, the first is to do damage while self-destructing; though I am not entirely sure how serious the damage caused will be because the A.I chip only said it will depend on the subject's strength. It will probably be a while before I plan to test this, so I have no way of knowing it currently. The other new feature is the ability to take control of the subject remotely for a short period of time. Although the parasite will self-destruct after using it, I thought of it as a nifty helping tool just in case I want to release troublesome jutsu like Edo Tensei after controlling a certain someone. Also, if I have to fight the subject in the future, I can just control them instead for a short time and finish them off quickly.
What makes this Parasite even more fearsome is its ability to hide within the subject's soul and transfer all their memories to the A.I chip wirelessly. If I was still in my previous world, I could stream this online and create my own Truman Show!
'Time to test it out, this time it will be a permanent one and I have the perfect target for it too…'

The next day, Ninja Academy.
"Hi, Rin!" I shout right after the classes are done for the day.
"Hello Rei, do you need anything?" she asks.
"Yeah, have you seen Obito? It's been a week and I haven't seen him even once! He's not even coming to the academy…"
She just shakes her head, I could easily tell she's hiding something so I press for answers, "Hey, Rin tell me the truth, do you really not know?"
Although it would be easier to just send some clones and look, I thought why waste energy when there is someone right in front of me who obviously knows the answer.
She just lowers her head, "Okay, okay, I will not tell anyone, where is he? Is he planning some kind of weird prank again?"
"No!" she practically shouts, "He is… he should be practicing in the training grounds…"
"What?"
"I don't know why, but ever since Kakashi graduated, he's been like this. Every day he trains so hard till he is almost unconscious… full of bruises and cuts…" she practically has tears in her eyes at this point.
"Did you talk to him?"
She nods, "I tried to stop him, but he didn't even listen. He says he wants to be the strongest Hokage and make everyone acknowledge him…"
"Don't worry, You go home, I will try talking to him," I say.
"I will come too…"
"No, it's better that you go home. I want to talk to him alone…"

Konoha Training Ground #4.
When I arrive at the training ground, I see Obito training shuriken jutsu there with full concentration. So much so that he didn't even notice my presence. I just waited quietly without interrupting him.
After who knows how long, Obito drags his bruised and exhausted body to a nearby tree and sits down next to it.
"So you are finally done, ha?" he hears a sigh from his side that badly startles him.
"Who's there?" he shouts and stutters after seeing me, "Oh, Rei! What is… what are you doing here?"
"Nothing just came to see my friend; a friend whom I have not seen for a week…" I narrow my eyes and say.
"Oh that, Sorry…" he scratches the back of this head awkwardly.
"Here drink this, it will help…" I throw him an energy drink.
"Thanks…" he immediately gulps down without thinking about it too much. Soon after he finishes drinking, he starts feeling so drowsy that it becomes difficult to even keep his eyes open, "What… what did.. you…"
"Nothing, just helping you relax… don't worry and sleep, I will take you home…"
Instead of carrying him to his house, I carry the unconscious Obito to mine where I have set up some rudimentary seals to block spying and start the Parasite injection process. Everything goes smoothly until the soul tearing pain comes. I had initially thought that with my current power the pain would be less, but I was wrong; wrong by a large margin.
After the Parasite injection process is done, I leave behind my blood clone and I retire into the Origin space again to get some much-needed rest after enduring such pain.
When I was making this plan, I was concerned about two things mainly. As I don't want Obito to think of me as an enemy, I can't directly use force to knock him out. Making an enemy out of Obito is always a bad idea. I could however transform into someone else or wear a mask to hide my identity and try, but therein comes the second problem. At this point, Black Zetsu and Madara should be keeping tabs on Obito. If suddenly, something like this were to happen to him, it will definitely alert them. So, the best way is to act as a concerned friend and find an opportunity which I easily did thanks to Obito's obsession to compete with Kakashi.
