Chapter 002 - Buena Village

Wynstan arrived at the village, It looked like a normal countryside village with fields, a riverside and farmers.

[Quest Completed, Reward: Inventory Obtained.]

Wynstan quickly dismissed the notification as he has no use for it right now.

While casually walking in unknown directions, the farmers were looking at him because of his unfamiliar face.

Wynstan slightly avoided their stares, somehow his whole life in the hospital made his social skills undeveloped.

"Are you lost?" A middle aged man with a straw hat asked with a gentle smile.

Wynstan nodded and pretended to be shy, in times like this having a child body is advantageous because you can just play ignorant.

Wynstan's body may be alright but his clothes are all dirty, especially his shoes.

"What happened?" The middle aged man gets down and meets Wynstan at eye level.

"I was playing around and got lost in the forest," Wynstan said pitifully, he wanted to try crying at first but he's not really an actor and can't make himself cry on whim.

"Where's your parents? They shouldn't let you wander in the forest alone, It's dangerous you know!" The man said with a strict tone.

Wynstan doesn't know how to explain that he doesn't really have parents as his body was created by the system.

"I ca-can't remember," Wynstan said as he grabbed his head and pretended that it hurt.

The man quickly changes his expression to concern, "Oh dear, Looks like the situation is worse than I thought, Come here, I take you to our village knight. He might know what to do better than I."

The man said as he lifted Wynstan without asking, "Sorry for this but it is faster this way."

The man might have noticed Wynstan's uncomfortable gaze so he apologized.

Wynstan just nodded quietly. Technically his body is three years old and shouldn't not be used in walking and his stamina is nearing its end too, he might have battle aura but that only increases his speed, offensive, and defensive power.

After a few minutes of walking, The middle aged man and Wynstan reach a decent house with a shirtless man swinging his sword vigorously.

Wynstan instantly recognizes the shirtless man as the father of this world's main character, Paul Greyrat.

The man who was carrying Wynstan exchanged a few pleasantries before informing Paul about the situation.

"Well then I take my leave, Be a good kid," The man took off his straw hat and put it on Wynstan's head.

Wynstan looked at the middle aged man's gentle smile as his heart reminded him of his parents. They are always there to help him and this is the first kindness he received when he came to this world.

"Thank you," Wynstan said as he looked around to see more people looking at him.

Rudeus the main character is looking inside the house through the window.

Zenith the village healer, wife of Paul, and mother of Rudeus. She was behind an opened door.

Lilia a maid that barely shows emotion, She was once a maid for royalty but a crippling injury got her dismissed and now she works as a maid for Greyrat household. She is behind Zenith.

Seeing that he is around good people, Wynstan finally let the fatigue take over, He passed out.

It's already night when Wynstan gains consciousness, He felt a soft bed at his back while gazing at an unfamiliar ceiling.

"I see you finally awake, Anywhere hurts?" Zenith said as she checked Wynstan for any injuries again.

Wynstan positioned himself in a sitting position on the bed and then shook his head.

Zenith claps her hands happily then said, "That's good, I am sure you are hungry. I prepared dinner downstairs."

Wynstan was carried by Zenith downstairs and put him on one of the chairs beside Rudeus.

Rudeus kept glancing at Wynstan with slight fear in his eyes, Like he was uncomfortable around him.

"How cute! My Rudy is shy around his future friend," Zenith teases her son with a kukuku laugh.

Wynstan sweats at Zenith's assumption that he will be Rudeus' future friend but doesn't say anything and just keeps observing.

After a while the dishes were served.

In front of Wynstan Zenith and Paul.

Seeing the food on the table, Wynstan's stomach growls.

Paul laughs loudly and encourages Wynstan to eat while Zenith just looks gently in his direction.

Rudeus is already eating without saying anything but still glancing at Wynstan from time to time.

Wynstan then eats without reservation and eats like a spartan after the war. He finished 4 plates of meat.

Wynstan feels that his mana is recovering faster when he eats meat than vegetables, he doesn't know the reason but he welcomes it.

Also because of his use of mana while he is in the forest, his mana reserves doubled which greatly surprised him of how fast he grows.

After devouring the plates Wynstan noticed that the whole household was looking at him with a shocked face, then laughed.

"I didn't expect that you are that hungry," Zenith giggled then patted Wynstan's head.

After the whole family is done eating, Lilia the maid grabs and washes the dishes.

Zenith then grabs Wynstan and puts him on her lap.

"Do you remember your name?" Zenith tried to be as gentle as possible.

"Um, My name is Wynstan," Wynstan said as he still wanted to eat. In his previous life he can only eat wet foods because he is too weak to actually chew and digest hard foods.

Rudeus meanwhile is listening in on their conversation. He is curious about this mysterious boy.

"That's good, You're so smart to remember, good boy~" Zenith said as she continued patting Wynstan's head.

Wynstan inwardly sighs and prays that this event quickly passess.

Zenith asked him some primary questions to get him to open up like, What color does he like and what is his favorite food before asking if he remembers his parents or his home.

Wynstan answered no while acting that his head hurts. Yes he is playing the amnesia card and no one can doubt him because he is a kid.

Zenity looks at Wynstan with pity and conflicted expression, because there is no orphanage around this village and she can't deliver Wynstan to his original home.

"Umm, what to do, what to do," Zenith thought loudly.

Rudeus who is seeing her mom's struggle decided to brace himself. He took a deep breath then said, "Mom, Is he staying the night over?"

After some conversation manipulation of Rudeus combined with Wynstan cuteness, Zenith decided to take care of Wynstan and hope that he will recover his memories.

But in her opinion that is almost impossible and in the first place does Wynstan even know his hometown?

After some time, Wynstan was given his own room to sleep.

Time passes and Rudeus and Wynstan's relationship becomes friends. Zenith is so proud seeing her child finally have a friend of his age.

How does this happen?

One day Rudeus was practicing elementary water magic inside an empty room and filling the buckets with water. Because he discovered that his mana reserve can grow by repeatedly using it to the limits.

But he can't make the water fire off, suddenly Wynstan appeared behind him then said, "Maybe you should set a firing speed instead of just creating water?"

Rudeus' iris went wide as he quickly tried it. Wynstan's advice was right as he managed to fire off his water ball.

Rudeus then asks if Wynstan knows about magic which Wynstan said he does and shows him fire manifesting on his palm.

From there on they both discuss magic and such, At first, Rudeus doubts if Wynstan is a reincarnated person like him but Wynstan doesn't seem to react when he casually mentions Japan or other things from earth and just looks at him with confused expression.

Of course Wynstan won't fall for that trick, He doesn't want any single being to know that he is a reincarnated person.

Also Wynstan is 3 months older than rudeus based on his system calculation of his current body.

Wynstan also helps with the chores around the house. His daily routine is to have breakfast with his temporary family, Hangout with Rudeus not always but when have time, and help Zenith and Lilia with housework.

Why does he feel that he needs to help? Because Wynstan eats a lot, He really likes eating and even asks Zenith to teach him how to cook.

Wynstan also invented an efficient way to increase his own reserves. Mana breathing.

[Mana Breathing (Active/Passive, Advance) - Passively increase mana regeneration. When activated, the user will expel his mana through his mouth. The mana that is expelled will converge outside of the user body as a sphere of pure mana.]

It's efficient because when Wynstan runs out of mana he can just absorb the mana sphere that he expelled earlier then repeat the steps until he gets tired.

And just that 6 months have passed.
