4 Ring Charm

"Let the great protection of fire be on the place thou seekest. I call the bold heat of a torch here and now. Fireball!" Hoki chanted and pointed at a small patch of green grass in front of her. 

Crackles of flames shrouded her right hand and then a fireball the size of a basketball shot out of her hand and hit the ground where she aimed, flames spread all over her target area and burned briskly.

"That's Fire Ball," Hoki said with a smile, "Although I restrained my power a bit,"

Now the 'Magic' stat in Status simply meant the MP reserves that I was talking about earlier, My MP reserves were low, like seriously low and like hell I was going to use an item to fill it up when there was another way.

"Alright thanks Hoki," I said with a slight bow, she was still a little bit older than me, "I'll try mine now,"

Hoki smiled wider and then she leaned in.

"You know you can give me a gift," Hoki chimed.

"Huh? A gift?" I asked.

"Yes, something like one of your stuff," Hoki suggested and I nodded.

"Sure, Let me try it out though," I said and then aimed at the spot where she had targeted.

"Let the great protection of fire be on the place thou seekest. I call the bold heat of a torch here and now. Fireball!" I chanted and then a bright burning flame the size of a burning baseball shot out of my hand and collided with the ground.

Baseball – Basketball. The size of both balls were distinctly different, even if I had the talent, If I didn't have enough MP, I wouldn't be able to cast the spell properly.

"That was umm, great," Hoki said.

"Not encouraging me enough," I muttered under my breath.

"Don't worry, Eventually you'll get stronger, at least it's better than before when it didn't even form a ball," Hoki said.

Yes, When Drew was testing our magic potential sometime ago, I had been asked to do this same spell only for it to flicker out of existence the moment I said the chant.

"Okay, Okay," I told Hoki, "I'll give you something of mine later, I want to practice more,"

Four hours later, I returned to the room with scalding palms. I had apparently overused a lot of magic and there was no visible improvement now but I was sure my Magic would increase.

Hoki sat on my bed, expectantly waiting for a gift. I sighed at the girl's antics.

"You've been here since?" I asked as I sat down on the bed next to her.

"Yes, You said you were going to give me a gift," Hoki replied, "And I want my gift now,"

I knelt down next to my bed and reached under, my hands searching for something. After moving my hand for some time, I brought out a silver colored ring.

This Ring Charm had been an item I found on the streets of Buena village on one of my trips, I didn't need it right now and besides it wasn't something I wanted. A 10+ buff against magical attacks sounds good but still, I didn't want a ring item.

As I brought out the ring, Hoki's cheeks went red.

"Ohh- Are you proposing?" Hoki asked, "You know we're too young for that,"

My eyes widened in surprise, How the hell did a 7 year old girl know the meaning of a Proposal?

"Granny said Grandpa did it for her... She even showed us a portrait," Hoki said.

'Oh Yeah, She asked us to call her Granny,'

"I am not proposing, You said you wanted one of my stuff and I gave you the most useful one of them all," I said with a smile, "An old woman on one of my outings said it was a Ring charm, an item that decreases the power of Magical attacks used against the user by a little,"

Hoki nodded, her expression a bit deflated but she took the ring nevertheless.

"I'll cherish it and keep it with me forever," She said, her blue eyes shining. I suppressed my urge to let out a slight chuckle, seeing the way she looked intensely at the ring.

…

I was out for two hours, It was afternoon and many villagers were on the streets of Buena village. They were doing their daily things.

Some were heading home from work at the farm and some others were sitting under the shades of big trees. 

"Quest Log," I muttered under my breath and a translucent screen appeared in front of my eyes.
