78 Chapter 78

At the edges of the city, near a mountain range, I was floating in the air, crossing my arms and looking forward.

Nejire flew next to me as she had just caught up.

"That camera almost caught us flying," she heaved a sigh. Unlike me, who flew directly in the sky, Nejire was trying to avoid every camera in the city.

"Why? Is it wrong to fly in public?" I asked, wondering why she even knew every camera's location.

"If we get caught while not having a hero license, we would have to pay around 50 thousand yen for it. Well, it's not that big a deal for you since you have a license," she said.

"Don't worry about it," I waved my hand. "You'll get your license soon and fly as you want."

"So, what are we going to do?" she asked, clinging to my arm and looking down.

"We're going to hunt down the founder of the villain league and the one who plays everything in the shadow," I grinned. If we were honest about the one playing everything in the shadow, that should apply to me. I mean, I'm sponsoring politicians in the National Diet, have strings in Hero Commission, and play with the world's economy because I have Rin – whose quirk is as unique as All for One's.

She nodded. "So, you're talking about the guy who set off the alarm in school and sent the villains inside."

"That's smart of you," I replied, surprised that she got it on her first try.

"I know. But let's address the elephant in the room, Kenshiro. There are no villains around," Nejire pointed out as she placed her hands on her hips, her head turning left and right. "It's just a plain mountain."

With a grimace taking over my face, I cast a spell of the first circle.

<<Heat Vision>>

Everything turned from normal colors to red and blue, with their shades.

Shapes of life inside the mountain could be detected. There were creatures in what I assumed to be lab tubes. Their heat was weak, but recognizable.

I noticed people only a few inches taller than Mineta gathering at one point.

'There are also children held up there for experimentation on their quirks.'

Pointing with my hand forward, I considered whether I should use a heavenly level technique. But I feared that I'd do more damage to the kids inside.

So, I ended up using an earth level one.

My finger shone with white light, which then turned into a beam that collided with the ground.

BOOM

A house-sized hole appeared with an unknown depth, raising a huge smoke screen mixed with a cloud of dust.

Nejire extended her hands, releasing a large shockwave that dissipated the cloud of dust.

What was revealed was a large, thick metallic gate, its surroundings turning into lava-like.

'Sunray beat has turned the thick metal turn into liquid.' I wondered what would happen if I used my strongest technique.

"Kenshiro. I understand you want to do this secretly, but couldn't you have done that with less noise?" Nejire said, eyebrows raised, hands on her hips.

I smiled, patting the back of my head. "I get you. But we're far from the city, and in a mountain range. It's not a habitable area."

She blinked twice and said, "Such a loud explosion could be heard from our house."

Wow, she used 'our.' She's surely quick to adapt.

"Anyway, be careful with your waves. There are children held there," I frowned, slowly descending to the ground.

"What! Children! How horrible of them," she exclaimed.

Looking at the hole, I could feel the approach of many creatures.

They were Nomus. However, they weren't very high-end.

"Nejire, don't hold back against them. They're undead people created from corpses," I said. "And some of them have super regeneration. So be careful."

"Umm…" she nodded, not showing hesitation.

Contrary to my first time facing Nomu, she didn't seem to have a problem with gory scenes.

I guess the mentality of real heroes was different from traders like me. I hated gore and usually preferred someone else dirty their hand. But if it meant saving Japan from a lawless era, I didn't mind dirtying my hand.

In front of the gate, many Nomus, with different colors, shapes, and heights, shuffled in our direction, seeming to look for the source of the trouble.

Looking at them, I pondered whether I should kill them. But Nejire was watching, and I didn't want her to see a gruesome scene on purpose or have the idea that I have a very abusive side.

On the other hand, I could simply use Kai's quirk to nullify them or put them in a coma, without seeming to have done anything.

My eyes shone red for a second, activating quirk-erasing quirk. All those within my eyesight lost any ability they had, except for their strength, which they had gained from their mutation.

I then dashed forward, turning into many afterimages, tapping the Nomus.

With Overhaul's quirk, any touch from me was a game over for anyone I touched.

Very soon, I appeared back in my original spot.

Nejire, who was about to charge a large shockwave, paused.

"What did you just do?" she asked, blinking twice.

I turned my head to her. The Nomus started falling one after one. I've turned them into vegetables that fell on the ground, except for one Nomu, who had been flying in the air.

I was about to deal with him, but Nejire extended her hand to him, releasing a shockwave capable of destroying a whole building, sending the Nomu flying with wounds appearing on its body. When that Nomu fell down, his body seemed to have lost life.

With an innocent look on her face, Nejire landed next to me, saying, "That almost caught me off guard."

Patting her on the shoulder, I said, "The noise must have alerted them, and we need to get the children out."

Usually, my priority would be All for One, but there were some guards around the kids, who could be turned into hostages.

You know what, I have the perfect Jutsu to multitask.

I crossed my fingers.

Another copy of me appeared.

"Wait! Isn't that the illusion skill you used against All Might?" Nejire asked, looking at the clone.

"Quietly," I replied. The clone nodded at me and went in a separate way.
