66 Chapter 66

Crossing my arms, I extended my legs and placed them on the table, looking with a stoic expression at the agent who was interrogating me.

"What do you have to say about your unauthorized use of force and public damage?" he asked, scowling as he stared at my legs.

"Self-defense. I was ambushed first," I replied. "Everyone is authorized to use lethal force as a last resort."

"Causing a nine-meter crack on the ground, public damage spreading. Not to mention, you somehow created a flame barrier around the villains," he mocked with a tone that suggested I had messed up. "Doesn't sound like self-defense to me."

"You're with the hero association. You are not supposed to deal with this before I get my hero license," I deadpanned. "I should be dealing with the cops, no?"

"It's our responsibility to deal with villains as well. They seemed to be there for you specifically. Are you somehow involved in shady activities?" he asked, not seeming to wait for an answer. "I think I'm going to charge you. If you don't change my mind, you'll be headed to Tartarus."

"You want to make a villain out of me?" I asked back.

At my current level, very few could stop me, such as the number one hero or number two.

If I decided to fly 20 km in the air, no one would be able to catch up to me.

I could change my look and even start a villain organization.

Wait. They didn't know about all of my abilities.

"This is a recorded investigation. Anything you say can and will be used against you," he snarled at me.

"Do you have a warrant?" I asked, standing up. "If not, I'm free to leave."

"If you didn't come with us, then we would have waited for a warrant, for now. Sit down, we're not done talking."

I was nonplussed. What's wrong with his attitude?

I'll play along and see where this goes.

I raised my hands and sat down.

"Sure, tell me what will be going on," I said, sitting down.

"You'll be charged for massive public damage, unauthorized use of quirk, a possible murder of the third degree."

"Self-defense, mate," I replied mockingly, raising my eyebrow.

"From the video that was recorded by one of your neighbors, it didn't seem like self-defense," he said.

"So. They have super regeneration. Killing them quickly is the only way to stop them," I replied. It didn't seem like they forgot about the super regeneration the Nomus had.

"Wait here for a second," he said, standing up and going out of the metallic door.

I bet that all of this play had nothing to do with me dealing with villains.

More, it had something to do with the superman shot I was creating.

Soon, a middle-aged blond blue-eyed woman entered from the door, many men in black behind her. She was the president of the Hero Public Safety Commission, quite a celebrity here in Japan to anyone interested in heroes and their lore.

"Ho. Madam president here to investigate me," I mused, stretching my arms open.

"You're the owner of the Snake Bio Tech, a man whose invention can flip the balance of power. I'd be sure to deal with you personally."

"Political power, you mean?"

"Every side of life could be affected," she said, sitting down. I looked at the table, seeing her finger pressing a paper in my direction.

"Get straight to the point."

"Withdraw your product from the market, and work exclusively with us. In exchange, we can give you immunity and drop all of the charges," she spoke. "Your invention is too dangerous to be let loose."

"Or what?" I deadpanned.

It seemed that they had been watching me for quite a long time to find a slip on me and use it to their advantage. Did they really think that I was just a young kid to be pushed to achieve their goal?

"You can try your luck. Two years in Tartarus before the trial. And we can use this current incident to investigate your company and close it," she said, applying pressure.

I would usually be angry and jump to a fight. But this was a political situation. Politics was a simple game that you play with a smile while hiding a knife behind you. In that case, I had already honed my knife a long time ago.

"I'll make a call first with my…" I said, grabbing my phone.

You know, I didn't use most of my money to grow the company. Instead, I had used it to make contacts with those who made it to the National Diet – people whom I could tell their future but lacked financial support.

"Who are you calling?" she asked.

"You'll find out soon," I said, contacting Rin.

She picked up immediately.

"Daddy. Are you there?" she asked, seeming to know this already.

"You know I'd be here," I chuckled.

"I've seen someone else's fate. You'd be calling me and so…" she said, trying to tell me it's not my future that she had seen.

"I see. So, you know what to do?" I asked.

"Don't worry. They should be there by now," Rin said. "I have called them in advance."

"I see." A huff escaped my nose as I shut the call. I then grinned at Madam President.

"You know, if you wanted to have exclusive rights for my superman shot, or even to take it down, you could have offered me a huge amount of money in exchange for that," I said. "I could negotiate the price."

"We tried. But you asked for a nation's budget," she said, half closing her eyes. "You have to understand that I had no choice but to put pressure on you."

"See. Wouldn't it be better if you stated your intent from the beginning?" I replied.

"You don't sound like a dense kid. So take my offer while I'm being nice. Unless you want your company shut," she said.

"I like your confidence, I truly do," I pointed at her, shaking my finger. "But you know, in ten seconds, I'll walk out of that door, and you guys will only apologize."

"Haha. No one made me laugh like this a long time ago," she laughed.

The door suddenly opened.

Five men entered, and many bodyguards were around them.

Madam president turned to them, stood up, and addressed them respectfully.

"National Diet members. If you're in a hurry to meet me, you could wait for me in my office," she said.

Instead, they ignored her and turned to me.

They bowed respectfully.

"Sir Kenshiro. I hope you haven't been mistreated," asked man number one.

"Why are you here? Are you fine?" asked number two, patting me on the shoulders.

"I was arrested because I self-defended myself. That's the story. Now, I'm being blackmailed to give up my project," I spoke. "They want to take my company down."

For these men, I was their source of fund. I had the cash. They had the power and contacts that came with it.

"Unbelievable! Kenshiro San. Please, let us deal with this," said number three, before glaring at the president. "You can go home."

What the president didn't know was that I'm sponsoring people even in their Hero Public Safety Commission.

"I knew I could trust you guys."

Standing up, I walked past madam president, bent to her face level, and said, "See ya later grandma. Your association will be banned from making any future deals with Snake Bio tech." I then kissed her on the cheek, before walking past her.

She was nonplussed, her eyes wide open.

I patted one of the five guys. They happened to be men whom I had many dinners with before their election. With them being in the National Diet now, they had formed many contacts outside of me, which I could reach now thanks to them. You know, when you live in a society based on corruption, funding and bribing were the ways for a man with no background to strive. I had done it before it could get late.

They then surrounded her, talking, threatening, and shaming.

Just to show power, I opened the system briefly and spent 10 coins to buy a cigar from another parallel earth. I wasn't a smoker. But screw it. I lit it up with my finger and placed it in my mouth, walking out.

My eyes turned left and right, looking for the guy who interrogated me earlier. He had a bad attitude, and I needed to fix it.

Oh, here he was, standing in the hall, looking at me.

Taking a deep breath, I dropped my cigar, and coughed a small fire out. The tip of the fire got his cloth, igniting his shirt.

"My bad," I raised my hand. "You can take the clothes fees from the compassion you'll be offering." I waved my hand, walking to the elevator.

As everyone from the current floor stared at me, I waved my hand.

'These assholes are on my trail now. But they have lost a chance to make a deal with me. Wonder what their reaction will be when I start Quirk cloning.'
