1 Chapter 1

I died. A classic start to an isekai.

You see, I was on my way to school.

I was supposed to be moving up from my senior year into college in just a few hours before an incident that I've always imagined happening when I was a wee-little boy finally happened.

While getting my hair cut in my usual barbershop, the ceiling fan detached from, well, the ceiling, and right into me. It was like the final destination all over again.

Luckily, my barber was getting something a few feet away so I'm probably the only casualty. That old man did great work so he'll probably continue doing god's work.

Moving on, as any isekai, I reincarnated.

Where? I have no idea. Fortunately, it was modern and not medieval cause that would be shit. Literally.

It's not a normal world by any means, though. Humans in this new world of mine had superpowers. Or more locally known as Quirks. Well, I've read that it used to be Meta-Ability and honestly, I liked that one better.

Metability. Heh.

Continuing, people had Quirks, which is separated into three categories. Technically four but that last one is more of a sub-type and are rare.

The first is called Emitter or more cooly, at least for me, known as Operative. This type can generate or maybe control certain things. (Like someone can generate wine out of their hands...) They might also be able to alter things around them in certain ways.

The second one is known as Transformation or, if you're a Quirk Geek like me, Composite/Hybrid. As the easier name suggests, this type transforms the person's body in some way. If you could make your nails longer or shorter whenever you want, then Its Transformation. Maybe you can pop out tires from your ankles and use them like a skater, then Its Transformation.

Lastly, Mutant. Or as I, and a few others, like to call it, Heteromorphic. This causes, honest to god dictionary meaning, permanent "abnormality" directly related to a person's power. A good chunk of humanity had, quote from the dictionary, abnormalities. This type alters the body PERMANENTLY. Can be quite small like long ears, more jointed limbs, to absurd degrees like being a full-on furry. That's not even the worse part. The worse part is that there's a lot of racism centered on Heteromorphs. Probably due to being different.

Well, that's not surprising, is it?

A bit sad for me but not too much compared to others. You see, I also have a Quirk. And I suspect it's a Heteromorphic one.

I'm a cat boy.

.

.

.

Technically a Lion boy but same thing. Lions are just bigger cats. I have a pair of lion ears atop my head, a lion tail, lion-like eyes, and "retractable claws". I say claws but I can just make my nails longer or shorter but making it longer also makes it sharp.

Based on that though, I thought my quirk might be a Transformation type and the lion features might have been inherited from one of my parents because that was possible but the doctor ruled that one out quickly and just said it's part of my MUTANT Quirk.

Who am I to question a doctor?

Extrapolating on that inherited bit, if, let's say a man with a Mutant Quirk that caused him to become a lion furry and a woman that had the common Transformation Quirk of extendable nails had a son, then that would be me. Their union caused their Quirks to combine, giving me Mutant and Transformation type qualities.

Luckily, I only inherited the useful bits from my father and more on my mother. By the way, those are just speculations as I haven't met my parents due to being dropped on the porch of an orphanage at 1.

I, however, hope that I'm a special case.

Because I might have inherited certain... quirks.. from my biological parents, they might not be my actual Quirk. Here's me hoping that I'm one of those kids that inherit heteromorphic qualities from their parents while having an entirely different Quirk because I've inherited quite a lot from my father or mother.

Due to having lion ears, I have excellent hearing. Like supernatural hearing. Not quite Gang Orca's level though but impressive enough. Oh, Gang Orca is a Pro Hero in Japan with a Mutant Quirk that turned him into an Orca furry.

With my cool but also a bit creepy cat-like eyes, I'm able to see amazingly at night or in general just the dark.

Due to having a tail, I have what I like to call Cat's Grace. Whenever I fall, I always land on my feet. I have extremely great balance. Not only that, I'm flexible and nimble as freak.

I'm extremely strong to boot. I'm comparable to adults with strength-focused Quirks.

Yeah.

Crazy.

I'm as strong as people, adults, that could carry a ton or two. More than that even. So, as a reincarnated person, I'm already quite OP but I'm hoping for more. You see, here in the States where I recently reincarnated in, there's someone that's super strong. She's also the number one hero in the USA.

Star and Stripe.

And her quirk? No one knows but from what I've read and seen from her battles with villians?

Reality Warping.

To a degree, at least.

And my current state can't compete with that...

.

.

.

Something inside me burns with that thought.

I don't know what, i don't know why, well maybe I know, but it BURNS.

I knew what was happening. I've watched enough anime to know where this was going.

Looking at the veins in my hands glow, I continued thinking of her.

The burning feeling came back.

The mere thought of not being able to... compete? fight? reach? No, being BELOW someone in strength made something inside of me burn. I might accept not being the tallest, the handsomest, the smartest, but not being the strongest? It irked me to unbelievable levels.

So what am I gonna do about it? I'll train. Train as hard as I can. Push my limits, nay, surpass my limits and surpass surpassing that. I'll continue to... RISE... like a certain something that always burns bright, even in the night.

The burning sensation reached a turning point.

Climbing onto the counter, I looked into my three year old self on the bathroom mirror.

My lion characteristics, the burning feeling in my chest, and the, unbeknownst to me at the time, huge Lion tattoo burning brightly on my back, made me think of one thing.

Staring at my lion-like eyes that shined brightly, I muttered in a sound only I could hear.

"The Lion's Sin..."

"PRIDE"
